  1. Suggested nicknames for Trendon Watford: "Wat-T" "Pooky" "Middle School Trendon (MST)" "Flounder" (after all, he's a legacy!) "Trend-o-rooski" "Kei-Ford" (In conjunction with his future frontcourt mate Keion Brooks) "Competitor Who's Awesome Too" (aka; CWAT... oh, wait...) "Called Watford, And T.wat? Never, Okay?" (CWAT-NO)
  2. While I understand the connection to "CWat", that is probably NOT the nickname we would want to give to his brother. Just sayin'.
  3. IMO, you will not be wrong; either way you are accurately sharing what you've heard. Your source might be wrong, not you, and the board should remember that, so that solid posters who share good info know that they are valued!
  4. Well heck, if that were the case that would imply that CWat was really not a fan of Crean.
  5. Avery Johnson/Calipari/Roy, etc could easily overcome the pull of IU if Crean were still there. Archie just may be able to reinforce Trendon's superb memories of IU, and couple them with the future potential of IU. Halleluiah, and Amen.
  6. An option???? "Off the court, Eric Ayala is expected to graduate with top honors in his class next week. He has already qualified for college, including passing the SAT and ACT, and is turning his attention to what he might focus on in college. He taken numerous unofficial visits, according to his coach, but has yet to take one of his five official visits. “Eric comes from a strong family, and he is a great student,” Espinosa says. “Whatever he decides to do, he’ll do the right thing.” If Ayala decides to classify into the Class of 2017, a scholarship would need to open for him to join Indiana’s team. However, if Ayala reclassifies into the Class of 2018, the Hoosiers would have five open scholarships. According to his coach, Ayala holds 22 scholarship offers from all around the country, including Syracuse, Arizona, Connecticut and Maryland. Indiana offered the 6-5, 190-pound combo guard on April 24. Realistically, Ayala could just get up and go if the opportunity presented itself."
  7. There is NO question that Tom Crean would have offered and vigorously pursued Trendon Watford.I DO have real questions about whether Crean would have been able to seal the deal with him.
  8. One of those three is far, far less valuable while being much more of a future investment than the others.
  9. What a crappy-@$$ mystery this is! James Blackmon Jr. ✔ @JBlackmon2 @RoJoJr Stay tuned 5m
  10. Not trying to schedule out minutes - and Archie don't give a crap what I think anyway ;) Like you Str8, I also think that our best players should go over 30 minutes per game whenever possible, and that's why my guesses that I posted above are as such only when averaged out over the long run. For instance; there will be games where DeRon gets two quick fouls and plays only 15 minutes. The next four games he can go into the low 30's and end up at 25-30 per game. Against Purdue if Archie wants to especially pick up the pace? More Josh that day. Against Iowa and he wants to pound it into DeRon down low? More Collin. I am making the assumption that Archie will let eight or nine players see the court regularly, and those are the most likely candidates, I believe.
  11. 200 minutes to divide up: Four guards in regular rotation for about 100 minutes per game: RoJo (28), Josh (25), DeVonte (25), CuJo (20) + a little bit of Al. Five bigs in regular rotation for 100 minutes per game: DeRon (26), Juwan (26), Collin (24), Freddie (10), Justin (14) + a little bit of Clifton. Need someone to be able to carve out space and get to the rim; that's what Al Durham does best, and if that's our biggest weakness he might get a little more run than expected. If Clifton can replace a rotation guy, that means he is more ready than we thought, and the team is better than we thought. Sounds like a solid tourney team to me.
  12. That's why you go to college. To be young and smart with edge of the page (or at times, outside the edge of the page) opinions, and by the time you leave, you learn a lot. That's Nigel Hayes.
  13. I like Thomas Bryant. However, he came to IU as a pretty immature kid. He played at IU during a time period when the head coach had a manic, quirky personality. I can see how that was someone Thomas could relate to during his recruitment, but it did him no favors. With Yogi, Max, and Z leading the team his freshman year, he seemed to mature substantially during the season, and his improved play reflected that. During his second season, without Yogi, Max, and Zeis, he was asked by the manic, quirky head coach to be one of the team's leaders. It. Did. Not. Go. Well.
  14. But Cody was a top five pick and an absolute freak at the combine. Thomas is exceeding expectations IMO.
  15. I hope that Hamidou Diallo is a lottery pick in the NBA draft: http://kentuckysportsradio.com/basketball-2/calipari-on-diallo-if-hes-a-lottery-pick-im-retiring-im-done/
  16. I dunno; I think that's quite good for a 6'10" big with a 7'6" wingspan. Especially surprised by the agility drill results!
  17. From what I've gleaned about Romeo, the most likely schools (in order of probability): Duke Indiana UNC Vandy Louisville Kentucky Kansas Ball State/DePauw/Rensselaer Polytechnic/Purdue (tied)
  18. Nope. That euphemism would be one's "Van Arsdale."
  19. Don't make me pull out the "Pink Fuzzy Unicorns Dancing on Rainbows" you two ;)
  20. Nigel Hayes. Went from an "athletic student" to a "student athlete" in four years. An absolute poster child for the beauty of rooting for a team of players that go to college to actually learn something... while also playing basketball. Nigel Hayes's words upon graduation from WIsconsin: https://www.theplayerstribune.com/nigel-hayes-wisconsin-basketball-graduation/
  21. I can speculate that Brandon Johns has made it clear that he'd like to be near home, but not in his parents house for college Per a recent interview of Brandon Johns: Everybody's going, "Oh yeah, he'll definitely go to Michigan or Michigan State" or something, but that's not necessarily the case. It's just where I think I fit in, whether that's in state or out of state. I'm just really grateful to all of the college programs that are recruiting me. Who are some guys that impressed you on the EYBL circuit? On my team, Keion Brooks- he's really impressed me. He's a sophomore and he's working his tail off just to be the best out here and he's doing great. He's had a great start and he's still doing great. Is he a good teammate? He's a really good teammate. He really cares about other people's success. He's not a selfish player or teammate. http://247sports.com/Article/Versatility-Quick-QA-With-Top-50-Skilled-Junior-Brandon-Johns-52671449
  22. We have enough athleticism to win (Newkirk, Smith, McSwain, Morgan). We have enough shooters to win (RoJo, CuJo, Collin) We have enough toughness to win (RoJo, DeVonte, Juwan, Collin) We have enough post presence to win, I hope... (stay on da court, DeRon) Coach 'em up, Arch.
  23. I went to Indiana University to get a college degree, and then to move on to the working world with college degree in-hand. James Blackmon Jr. has accomplished exactly that (pending a quick and expected stroll through a summer school session). Congrats to a student-athlete, and a good one!
  24. Y'all understand that this will be by far the most talented collection of players that Archie will have ever worked with, yes?
