  1. WInner either way...decisions for Archie. But jimminy christmas...if that's the way to go then we should flat-out hire Chris Hawkins as the third assistant or the director of player development so that we can have that EG 10 all-stars/Romeo Langford connection!
  2. It seems to me... that if Drew Adams becomes our third assistant coach, that Robert Phinisee will be that much more likely to be a Hoosier. Just sayin'.
  3. Four stars with a Nova offer...That was both Smith and Moore! BTW: Moore's teammates don't get him the ball because they "don't know how good he is." Smith's teammates? On what he wants to show in his final high school season and his individual and team goals: “As a player, I just want to get better at creating my own shot and being able to be counted on by my team to go get a basket or go make a big play. As a team, our goal is to win a state championship. That’s what I’m looking forward to.”
  4. Sure...maybe. Clifton's size, length, and shooting ability are intriguing. But...even now that he's done with his senior year, he's still not able to assert himself in low-end AAU tournaments. From last weekend: The nightcap at the Donofrio Classic on Tuesday seesawed into the final moments before Evan-Eric Longino helped his Del Val VC team close out a 88-84 first-round victory over Hunting Park II. Longino, a senior guard from Germantown Academy and a West Chester commit, finished with a game-high 22 points and sank two victory-clinching free throws with 5.2 seconds remaining. Lower Merion’s Terrell Jones (14 points) and Wissahickon’s Shane Ford (13 points) helped complement Longino on the offensive end, while Hatboro-Horsham forward Clifton Moore anchored Del Val VC’s 2-3 zone. Moore had five points in his squad’s win over Hunting Park II. We are in a position to be choosey this year. We should choose the 6'7" ultra-athletic, 22 ppg, 10 rpg, Illinois 1st team all-state player first.
  5. Missouri and Cuonzo Martin happened.
  6. "RoJo, as expected, will be playing next season for coach Billy Donovan and the Oklahoma City Thunder."
  7. No way! Justin Smith is far and away the best prospect for me. MUCH better athlete. Much better high school program and competition level. Much better defensive potential.
  8. To me the order of the visits is no coincidence. Smith gets the first shot at any open slot, Durham gets second shot, and Moore gets the last shot.
  9. Seems to me that by Monday mid-day, we will have a pretty good idea of what next year's roster will look like.
  10. He's Jared Sullinger. Meh
  11. Connections to the Miller family, abudanza! Sean Miller, Calipari, and I'm sure soon Archie will be on this young man.
  12. Yes...Kevin Wilson style! Completely agree.
  13. It's quite simply a choice in how you want to conduct yourself; personally, and as a basketball program: Cutting corners and gravitating toward the edge of the page is ultimately unsatisfying. For those that have done so, few are ultimately glad they did. For those who conduct themselves in a way that they can look back with pride, few regret their integrity. Holier than though? Nope; not expecting the program to be flawless; not expecting the program to ignore measures and activities that are allowed. However, I am very much hoping and expecting for a program that is confident that, if people knew what was going on behind the scenes, they would come away more impressed, not less. And don't for a minute think it can't be done or doesn't get done: Florida under Donovan, Butler under Stevens, IU under Knight (minus the coach's anger issues, perhaps), Nova under Wright. Michigan under Belien, are just a few examples that immediately come to mind.
  14. Since this thread is a bit of a referendum on next season, below is a "way too early" USA Today pre-season poll for next year. NOTE: The Archie effect has put our Hoosiers as a pre-season #15 ranking nationally, which in this poll makes them the highest ranked B1G team! https://www.usatoday.com/story/sports/ncaab/2017/04/04/college-basketball-early-preseason-2017-18-top-25-march-madness/99893982/
  15. Terrible awareness + terrible knees = terrible defense = not drafted.
  16. And you better keep your distance, young fella!
  17. Welllll... You get a coaching staff with superior judgment which can accurately assess whether they have a legitimate shot at actually closing the deal with Garland, so that we don't waste time, energy, and attention that could be spent on a fantastic player like Phinisee. We haven't necessarily had that dynamic in a while, and I can't wait to see it in action.
  18. Ooof. 54 years old, has never coached college ball at any level, and has never been a head coach anywhere, at any level... ever. Apparently 5* Mitchell Robinson now leaves Western Kentucky to play for Ewing and his godfather (who will be on Ewing's staff) but still: Ooof.
  19. If we have Bruiser AND Ostrom will be very, very well positioned with recruiting.
  20. This. One if the game's great personalities. With us for recruiting. Archie is the floor coach and deal closer. A functional, sensible methodology!
