  1. Good lord that defense. The returnees at DT, safety, CB, and LB are extraordinary. The additions are also extraordinary. I pity the fools trying to score against Haines' boys next season.
  2. Played college football at the University of Sioux Falls, for their then-Coach Kalen DeBoer!
  3. I think I've read that Owings almost left last year; therefore, Cig was prepared for this possibility. And when Cig is prepared? The chances that it will be an outstanding decision are about as high as possible. So welcome Coach Brown; it's a critically imporatnt role and I'm excited that Cig has his guy identified for it.
  4. If ya don't want people to get your name wrong or misapply facts or attributes? Remain invisible.
  5. It that guy a Griffindore or an Eiwalk or a Wooky or a Klingon or sumthin? Sure as hell doesn't look like a point guard.
  6. Is Star Wars and Star Trek the same thing? Asking for a friend.
  7. I was busy listening to a Velvet Underground album and working 90+ hours per week back then. I'm more better now. Still gotta see: Star Wars Dumb and Dumber Any Marvel movie ever made Any Spiderman, Avatra, or Avengers movie (are those the same as Marvel movies?) Any Harry Potter movie and many, many more!
  8. Oh. Not a movie guy, so there. I'll see myself out to commiserate with @Demo in the Music thread.
  9. Pretty snazzy baby blue top hat and tails on Katic, eh?
  10. Marsh, Becker, Morris, Preston, and maybe Chandler or Bond take on key roles. That's a stacked WR room. Omar would be extraordinary, but I'll be much, much more jazzed if Carter Smith and Tyrique Tucker return. And FWIW, Mel Kiper (I know, I know, but gotta have a baseline) Does not have Omar among his top 13 named WRs, Has Carter Smith as his 12th best OT, Has Tyrique as his 12th best DT
  11. ^^Too absolutist and broad for me.^^ Far more likely that there are some IU football players that are jackasses, and some current IU basketball players that have truly outstanding attitudes by any measure. Moreover, the talent pool and availabilty of talent, both physically and mentally, that fits key roles is world's different on a 103 player football roster vs a (currently healthy) 11 man basketball roster. The 11 guys we've got include significant gaps in skillsets needed for consistent winning. That, and the entirety of the situation is on the staff. But it's FAR too soon to declaratively state that the staff cannot make corrections and succeed greatly. There are so many examples of new staffs making post-first year corrections and succeeding greatly (Todd Golden, Jay Wright, among many others) and of course, many, many examples of first year underperforming coaches that never figure it out. For me? This is where I'm at: I personally think that this thread is fine for message board fodder, but it is drastically premature and kind of silly for anyone to draw a conclusion at this point.
  12. Maybe, but because of the NFL-level skills and the added oompf to his story, he is trending to be MUCH more. Also, (though Tebow has proven to be a great guy) there was less relatability to Tebow. Nando will have a beer and let the F word occasionally slip. And unlike Tebow he's portrayed as a rise from nothing underdog who led the Rocky-like champion, and with a great family backstory. Exhibit A? The world's single largest circulation tabloid, the Daily Mail has this: And this: on its cover page today.
  13. Here's a hot take: Public perception is aimed at turning our guy Fernando into the Taylor Swift of football. As in, the talented person that is universally loved and relatable, and never really steps in a pile of ****. If Nando is a plus impact NFL quarterback he's got potential to be one of the highest profile sports celebrities on the planet.
  14. The most Purdue Football Tweet ever. They signed a kicker recruit yesterday. Here is the reaction from their official fansite page:
  15. I’m thinking my next dog will be named Bones. Kinda fits.
  16. Didn’t know that Wheeler had a year left. C’mon Tyrique… STAY MY MAN!!!!!
  17. No IU portal entries yet? That's surprising and wonderful. There will be some - there's gotta be, but the longer this runs the less chance there will be too many.
  18. One of the team's true unheralded superstars, Tyrique Tucker, motions to the fans during the trophy presentation:
  19. The look on Cig's face as Fernando delivers his usual post-game cliches: Followed one second later bya Cig head snap and look as Fernando breaks from the script and screams LET'S FU**ING GO!"
  20. "Let's ******* GO! (on the Jimmy Fallon Show)"
  21. As he should! Here's to DeAngelo Ponds, the best pound for pound football player in the history of IU, and maybe the best pound for pound football player in the history of college football.
  22. I'll attempt to answer each of your questions: What am I not sure about? I'm not sure if Harris would be any help at all to our front line. Actually; I was trying to be kind. I doubt that Harris would be much help at all. Yes; Harris was healthy in Puerto Rico. Full practices and plenty of minutes, though largely in garbage time. If everybody's stats have translated he'd be about as good in garbage time as he was then, and that's not especially helpful. Hope I'm wrong btw.
  23. The next couple of days are gonna to be critical for players leaving IU. Buckle up guys; there will be departures as soon as staff/player exit meetings happen.
  24. Not sure about that. Harris is smaller than Alexis, never has played against high-major players, and when he was healthy in Puerto Rico got almost zero run.
