What numbers? Ranked teams? Objective at best. If IU was hovering 20 before they got hot in late season they would easily be top by the voters. Oklahoma was great in January but have lost 3 of 5. They are going to be a high seed upset. Texas and Kansas is the only two teams that are playing good from that conference.

I still am not sold on the Big 12 outside of Kansas. They are rarely strong in the Tournament. Gonna make a bold prediction and say no Big 12 team makes it to Elite 8. We will have 3 B1G teams like every year. 2 ACC. 2 Big East. Then Zona.

I think honestly if we got by Wichita St we would have been picked by some to win conference this year. Not many but we would have been there. Last years underachieving makes this year look like overachieving imo.

Yeah if a team wins outright it would be hard to not give it to that coach. If there is a 3 way tie with Maryland, Iowa, and IU then it goes to either Fran or Gard. Fran is in the midst of his typical February however. I don't see him getting it. I think it will either be Crean or Gard.

The man did his best coaching job when one of his top players went down. That doesn't happen often. How many teams improve when the 2nd leading scorer goes down? He deserves credit.

Agreed.  The one place we don't have much of a rope is in the recruiting threads.  This is due to the time and effort Pap, CCG, Hova and others put in.  They give us more information than pay sites for free.  They deserve accommodations of space and respect in their threads.  We have plenty of other threads others can throw their hatred at.  If they do it here they don't usually last long.

That is why I added the explanation of KenPom and how they track. Like he said they don't track all of those things so the saying is true with that method you are only as good as your last opponent. He went all ape shit when I agreed with him. Not really surprised either.

Its because over the course of a season injuries happen. There is enough data to show how good teams are. It's the same as us before Blackmon. The way we played brought our value down. The truth is we are trending towards where we actually are. If we just take the last half of the season we are a top ten team. The first half we wouldn't have cracked top 40. Our current ranking is indicative of our team as it stands. There just isn't much jump from game to game now. I mean are we really 10 spots lower without RoJo? We could win and drop a couple of spots due to inefficiencies which I think is what will happen. That is typically what you see with KenPom. It is usually the game after once the data is there.
