Next year, Austin Ethrington- A tall Matt Roth? Questions on Fischer?

Recommended Posts

Yes Fischer is pretty good.  I'm also on the ESPN message boards and the (true) IU fans that follow recruiting say he is.

I could see Etherington playing some good minutes next year, as long as he stays healthy.  By the way, he has hops for a white boy!

What is Fischer ranked? 66 in the top 100? I watched his highlights and all I can see is that he needs to gain muscle! Bad!!

Hate to break it to you but Zeller could use muscle as much as he could.  The thing is, they can both play really well with what they have.  Fischer's high school team just finished 22-0 in the regular season and he played a big role.

Austin is NOT Matt Roth..Hell, Jordy isn't even Matt Roth

This is true and Etherington can throw it down. If Austin could ever be half the shooter Roth was it will be great! I hope he returns from injury better than ever.

I don't worry too much about player rankings. I seem to remember that Vic and Will barely cracked the top 150 in the country. Bet a lot of other coaches would like to have them on their team now. Rankings pan out for some and are worthless for others. I have watched dozens of highlight videos of Fischer. The kid can play and will be a major contributor at IU before it is all said and done. Most kids his size need to gain bulk out of HS, look at Cody from last year to this. Luke has high basketball IU for a big, great hands, and comes from a winning environment.

Austin can play. He hasn't gotten the minutes, or his spot figured out on the team, but he can provide some solid minutes for Indiana. He will never be a starter, or a 20+ minute guy, but I think he can provide a spark and use his three point shooting ability. All of that is obviously just my opinion and could be very wrong.

I'm really excited for Luke Fischer. He is a poor man's Cody Zeller at this point, but I think he can fill Cody's role once he leaves. The thing I'm hoping and praying for, is Cody staying one more year to mentor Fischer. Not likely, but if Luke could go man to man vs Cody every day for an entire season in practice, he'd be leaps and bounds ahead of where he currently is. I'm excited for Luke. He'll prove a lot of people wrong.
