  1. Fwiw, per the emerging account that called Devries relatively early, Mullins won’t happen. Regardless of this account’s opinion, it was always a longshot to flip a UConn commit.
  2. Exactly. The trend was bad, but still. I actually deleted the post because I know a “well actually” post was coming about how he deserved to be fired and I realized I didn’t want to argue about it.
  3. Ha, IU moves very slow on these sort of things. I've helped out as an alum on some projects with depts I used to be a student in and IU's IT, tech, approval for anything... yikes.
  4. Thanks. I wondered how we found him to begin with. One other piece of info here posted in another thread is below:
  5. It would be a dream to, with some consistency, beat more talented teams because we were better coached and had a better gameplan. We have rarely had this since RMK -- Kelvin could do it but wasn't here long, maybe Crean did a little bit but certainly not often, and with our last two coaches it was very rare.
  6. Ha, yea, good memory I forgot about that. btw it was Joey.
  7. It would be pretty interesting if the story ever comes out on DeVries vs McCollum and how it ended up being CDD. As for Brad, I like him and knew their family a bit growing up. If he declined Sunday that is a pretty late in the game “no.” Surprising his feedback wasn’t quicker or Scott didn’t set an earlier deadline — like how much time do you need Brad? I’m not disputing facts or anything, this is just a reaction I had when I heard it. Things worked out fine with CDD so that’s good. Anyways, IUBB is never short on drama. Add it all to the already extensive IUBB lore.
  8. He’ll always be part of the IU family.
  9. He got folks to pay $15M for Allen’s buyout, which as much as I like Scott, was a buyout Scott was responsible for. That must have been a tough sell lol. Honestly I don’t know how much of Devries is covered by donations vs other revenue sources like media rights increases that are coming. It’s a good question, the athletic dept is always a bit opaque to outsiders like me.
  10. Yea, he could recommit here, but would be fairly surprising if he did. Who knows what NIL Woody offered him (probably a ton) and if CDD would offer that much (probably not), if CDD even wants to recruit him (probably not). Without some structure in place it’s hard to evaluate a Bosnian player on short notice. We shall see.
  11. I kinda like Wade, but he’s not so good it’s especially lamentable. And didn’t he lie to LSU? I get he was playing the game paying players, okay fine, but lying to an employer too is a reasonable concern. Whatever, we didn’t hire him.
  12. Also works well with Bloomington’s whole history with rocks — limestone quarries, Cutters, The Rock (stadium), Hep’s Rock…
  13. Wow, $2M. Thinking out loud about player comp, with the rev share starting this year, I guess player values will increase something like 1.5-2x from where they were last year? I’m not sure, just ballparking a rule of thumb.
  14. I could do without the summer social media videos of double battle ropes, sandpit exercises, weight lifting, and team putt-putt. I'm sort of kidding. But it's CDD's call!
  15. Please let IU have shooters. It kills me the whole state grows up learning how to shoot and our flagship bball program has been brick city for nearly a decade.
  16. That's how I feel, and Goode would work well if he gets another year. I don't have an issue with Rice, I didn't hear anything bad about him this year (though I'm not super connected), and of course he overcame cancer which will always be impressive. He just got stuck on a Woody team and that is tough. Everyone else? If coach wants them and they have an epiphany they need to change, fine, but anyone else who goes I won't miss.
  17. Yea. Even with as much media as he does, doing prepped remarks when accepting a huge job is something different for him. And I agree, his element is talking bball.
  18. Going to be very interesting who he keeps from our current roster...
  19. I like his level demeanor and the Q&A was very good. Time to get to work Coach!
  20. Yes, he wants to schedule big games -- that's fun and like the whole point of having a bball program is winning games that matter. Love it.
  21. Not sure if that’s his wife, but if so she has the colors right.
  22. Yea. I’m not going to get too high or two low on what happens over the next month. I would like to see him show some recruiting chops — could be landing some top portal guys or flipping a Mullins/Haralson — I’ve got nothing specific in mind but you know what I mean. He’s got a $10-12M WAR CHEST so I would like to win some battles and I think he will. Edit: Also I want shooters after the last eight years I demand shooters.
  23. Great analysis. We are doomed. /s
  24. Dittos. It's college sports -- as we know it's a nasty zero sum game with effectively no rules when it comes to coaches and players. I'm also not going to feel bad if we take a bunch of their staff/players/recruits. This is the game.
  25. As a heads up, the 11:30AM intro presser will be on BTN (surprisingly not Foxsports) and Indiana Basketball’s Facebook page. Per Assembly Call.
