IndyHoops got a reaction from Ngw7183 in Fire Coach Woodson Thread
Pushing back by the players and staff is never a good look. All it does is divide the fan base further. You also run the risk of alienating fans that were not part of the problem. There is literally nothing to gain for the staff or players to call out fans.
What exactly did the players and staff gain by calling out fans? Just giving more ammunition to the haters if the staff fails in the portal or they don’t win next year. This isn’t the NBA, and Woodson hasn’t figured that out.

The IU fan base is massive. Got to take the good with the bad. Are some things inappropriate that the fans do? Yeah. But those same fans make it possible that the players get paid the way they do. Can’t handle the bad part of the IU fan base? Go to DePaul, Ball State, etc…..

And what if IU doesn’t win? For example, misses the NCAA. The staff needs to step down for the good of the program. Correct?

Do you think that gets better next year? Or worse?

You seem mad, start being awesome instead!!
Let’s see what Mediocre Mike does in the portal before judgement is passed.

Last time… wait until next year. You think this is “melting down”, just wait. I honestly hope the staff and players are prepared. Lord help them if they lose a couple early in the season. And especially if Woodson strikes out in the portal.

What is your connection to the IU staff?

You are missing the point completely.
if Woodson:
* had any kind of high school talent coming in that fans could get excited about watching develop over the next few years
* was out recruiting Indiana kids hard. Doesn’t matter if you get all them. But was putting in the work
* admit some changes need to be made on offense instead of doubling down on basketball is played “inside-out”
* wasn’t trying to build the entire roster from the portal. Making Indiana “Portal U”
Serious question, what is there to be positive about for an IU basketball fan? DePaul and some other programs would love to have the following IU does. The fan base is one of the biggest selling points for IU right now. NIL is what it is because of the fans.
Let’s play another game… OSU fired Holtmann half way through this year after ONE bad year. He made the NCAA five years in a row. Are the OSU fans the problem?
Howard is barely hanging on at Michigan this year after ONE bad year. The previous 2 years Howard WON THE BIG TEN, went to the Elite Eight AND made a Sweet 16, are the Michigan fans the problem??
The fact is Woodson is going to get fired next year. He simply isn’t a good enough college coach to pull off what needs to be done next year. So why wait? So we can be like Michigan next year? So we can fire a former player half way through the season like OSU? Or is IU not at the same level as OSU and Michigan in basketball?

You’re wrong. Got thru the data. I have. In a single year, Success is the exception not the rule.

Sorry man, the point was Kansas State didn’t bring in 9 transfers in one year. They brought in 4 one year and 5 the next.

Kansas State brought in FIVE 2 years ago, NOT 9.
The other 4 were high school kids.
And if I give you Kansas State, that’s ONE.

That would mean at least 7 players on every roster in the Sweet 16 were transfers. Thats not even close to true.
And even if it was, none of them are bringing in 7 or even 6 transfers in one year.

Florida is the only team to bring in 6 or more transfers in one year and be successful.
Illinois brought in 3 and Colorado State brought in 2 this year.
Kansas State is 18-13 (8-10) this year.
