  1. Never in the last 50 years has a global pandemic prolonged collegiate eligibility. Luke Goode went through senior night 3 weeks ago (as a junior) with the expectation that he’s going to return. Theres a lot of things that happen in college sports today that wouldn’t make sense 50 years ago. We have college freshman who feel the need to announce they’re returning for their sophomore years.
  2. Well he refused to resign so you tell me.
  3. Correct. I will assure you nobody from Georgetown is discounting Patrick Ewing's legacy.
  4. I'd love to see what message boards you discourse on that doesn't include Woodson as a top 15 or so Hoosier?
  5. I was born the same year George McGinnis played at IU, don't remember him playing...obviously. But I sure as hell had heard about him before a few years ago. Mike Woodson finished 2nd all-time in career scoring at the time he graduated and was recently bumped outside the top 5 this prior season by TJD. He was one of the best defenders in program history. Outside Cheaney and McGinnis, you could make a legitimate case he's the best player at IU to never win a title. And he was also one of the better Knight NBA players that Coach RMK produced.
  6. Yeah you're not going to find many players with a more decorated individual career than Mike Woodson. Someone claiming to have been born in 1977 and not knowing Mike Woodson's name until a few years ago is more than suspect. I was 9 years old when he graduated and still remember him well.
  7. Didn't say it entitled him to do that either. But calling him mediocre because he didn't win a national title during his playing days is just flat lazy, especially coming from a poster who wasn't even speck during Woodson's playing days.
  8. And they got in Woodson's senior year, lost to Purdue. And I'm assuming you weren't alive back then or else you'd know Woodson missed half the year with a back injury and was never right despite winning B10 POY. There was nothing mediocre about Woodson during his playing days.
  9. Because as you said, there wasn't near the parity as there is today and it was much harder to make the tournament in general. You could be a top 25 team and not make the tournament if you didn't finish top 2 in your conference. It's a huge reason why the NIT was a bigger draw than the NCAAT for so long. A team like FAU making the F4 was unheard of back in the day. It's pretty much common place now.
  10. Of course it was. Only two teams per conference through the 1980 season. Sweet 16 teams like Clemson, Alabama, Creighton or Marquette, San Diego State, and NC State wouldn't have even been in the field. Last years national champion UConn wouldn't have been in the field either.
  11. Stop. Mike Woodson was an extremely good basketball player and them not winning a National Title (which was much harder to do back then) had nothing to do with Woodson's play.
  12. Or they wanted someone more qualified to lead a P5 rebuild than Dusty May (and for that I would have to agree although I hate the delivery). Musselman must have turned them down because I don't see his name mentioned much anymore. Wade seems like a no-brainer if you ask me.
  13. Didn't realize it was this bad....but yeah the consensus among Louisville fans was that they were not sad to see him pick Michigan.
  14. He's taken two bottom of the barrel P5 jobs and lead one of those schools to the tournament in year 2. Dude has been around every level of basketball and coached under guys like Painter and Stevens. Has deep recruiting connections to the state of Indiana. X's and O's are the least of my concern with a guy like Shrews. Shrews leading a team playing almost all true freshman and sophomores to a KenPom defensive rating of 30 is a pretty remarkable feat. Put this guy in a situation where he isn't trying to compete against a top tier football program and you might have something.
  15. I think what's happening at Louisville is exactly what Dolson didn't want to happen this year if they parted ways with Woodson. -Swung for the fences (and missed) with Drew -Thought they had plan B locked up and that fell through (May) They seem to be in scramble mode now with a new list of names that have surfaced in the last 24 hours including Schertz. For as much s*** as Dolson has gotten, what on Earth has the Louisville AD been doing these last 2 months?
  16. Have to think Shrewsberry is in that next batch of flavor of the month, especially if he's able to land Sisley and/or Mullins this Fall. His raw W-L record is nothing to fawn over but I think there's a ton to like about his background, pedigree, and connections. If Notre Dame pushes for a tourney bid this year I could be sold.
  17. Pretty sure Race Thompson went through senior day twice.
  18. Ousmane would be the perfect complimentary big off the bench that provides interior defense and rim protection.
  19. He was impressive in their tournament loss to Washington St, small for a 2 guard though. Have to think West Virginia is the early favorite.
  20. My (uninformed) pulse on the situation is that I don’t feel Dolson believed he had the support or resources to make a splash hire this offseason. You fire a player legend in Woodson who has made the tournament in 2/3 seasons and replace him with a flavor of the month hire (say Dusty May in this instance) who completely bombs, your legacy is tarnished forever. Not saying any of this is true or correct, just what I personally believe.
  21. So reading the interwebs the last hour, seems the consensus from U of L fans is that they dodged a bullet and the few talking heads I follow from Michigan feel pretty underwhelmed with the hire. That’s a pretty stark contrast from the consensus on here and other IU related sites.
  22. If they truly had $6million to begin with I would guess a lot.
  23. I think 5 of their top 7 players have a Covid year. Goldin, Martin, and Davis could all play at this level I would think.
  24. Yes. Owned several hundred Wendy’s and Chili’s as part of his food conglomerate. His company was also the bottler for Coca-Cola. Worth more than half a billion.
