  1. Apologetic that you thought Stevens was coming to IU. Been trying to have a serious discussion for 3 weeks. Welcome aboard.
  2. You’re investing a lot in Cronin. Buyout, salary bump, etc….IU doesn’t do that=risky McCollum is your safe bet, run of the mill salary $3-4mil/yr guy Knowing IU, they will take the latter every time.
  3. Color me shocked that Brad Stevens doesn’t want to coach college basketball. Shocked I tell you. Who saw it coming? Cannot believe people on this board fell for this BS for weeks/months. Shame on those who pushed this narrative. Options: -Overpay for Dusty May -safe hire Ben McCollum -get risky and advantageous and buyout Mick Cronin (would be very happy) -be smart and hire Will Wade (home run)
  4. Naples. My folks are down there full time, said last week it was as bad as they’ve seen.
  5. Red tide down here is awful right now.
  6. I’m still here my guy. Travel day for me.
  7. I mean, he’s not wrong lol
  8. How about we worry about making the tournament every year before we start worrying about banner 6. To think IU is too good for Bo Ryan or Matt Painter level results given the last 30 years is utterly ridiculous.
  9. Could buy out Cronin, pay him $7mil/yr for 6 years, and still spend less than the reported offer out to Stevens. Wild.
  10. The bugger question is why? Of those 20 coaches, more than half aren't realistic candidates or candidates that would take the IU job and he's got a better resume than pretty much everybody else on the list.
  11. Cronin followed legend Bob Huggins at Cincinnati and has coached well at UCLA for the last 5 seasons. He's used to being at jobs with expectations. The one deterrent with Cronin is his buyout.
  12. Of course. Pearl's camp did it to IU last year, Beard's camp is doing it right now, just as Dusty's camp will likely be doing the same.
  13. Of the guys who I could see realistically take the IU job, he's my #1. Otzelberger and Will Wade are my 1 and 2 but I don't see Otz leaving ISU and I have finally resigned myself to accepting the IU brass won't approach Wade. I would take Oats, Beard, and Scott Drew over Cronin in a heartbeat but they aren't realistic candidates and the Stevens talk is pure nonsense that I won't even entertain. May, Williams, McCollum, etc would feel a lot like settling at this point. Cronin cleaned up Alford's mess quickly, wins on a consistent basis which is the thing I like the most about him, has a hardass-mentality which is needed here, and has ties to the Midwest which will help with recruiting given IU's NIL resources.
  14. Nothing other than he yells too much and is "mean to his players" for the soft portion of this fanbase.
  15. UCLA's entire team minus Kobe Johnson has eligibility left. The emphasis on recruiting a bunch of 5* in each class and making them the cornerstone of your team no longer exists. I have zero concerns with Cronin's ability to recruit, especially in the Midwest with IU's NIL resources. By the way, need some board consistency. You say that his recruiting sucks while @Certified Sunshine Pumpersays he underachieves with a ton of top talent. Which is it?
  16. They also beat a healthy Tennessee team by 30 earlier this year and just won at Auburn.
  17. I don't care man. I wouldn't expect someone who has never played an organized sport in their life to understand either. Knight is one of the best motivators of all-time and there is a hundred different people who will all relay that sentiment.
  18. Motivational tactic, RMK did the same thing plenty. They're 8-1 since he called his team soft and on a 7 game winning streak. Stuff like that works you know.
  19. He's publicly called out the NIL situation at UCLA. He did fundraising himself which is absolutely wild at a school like UCLA. His floor at IU is a 6 or 7 seed every season. I'm not sure how a single IU fan can turn that down?
