  1. Huh? I've taken a back seat to every new hire since Knight. Goal for DeVries this year is to get a culture and system in place. Anything after that is gravy. I've been pretty consistent on that since January regardless of who IU was going to hire. There's nothing attractive about IU right now outside of money. And with revenue sharing being enacted this next athletic calendar year, a whole bunch of other teams just fell into some money.
  2. Kenny Payne's best year doesn't even compare to Woodson's worst year. Zero percent chance Louisville would have fired Woodson after his first two years in Bloomington. No program in the country would have.
  3. No one should be impressed/unimpressed until actual games start. I mean, IU has been what, the offseason national champs the last 9-10 years running? God forbid we don't win it this year.
  4. Johni Broome averages 30 mpg as a NPOY candidate and averaged 25 mpg the year before as an All-American. Flory needs a new agent or handler if he seriously thinks he's going to play that much regardless of what Pearl tells him. It ain't happening.
  5. If Flory really is down to Auburn, IU, and Michigan (still?) then there's no way he can expect to realistically play heavy minutes next year. I would assume he understands that though.
  6. There's an ignore feature. Your bravery to skip over passionate basketball dialogue is duly noted.
  7. Why don't they compliment each other? You get 20 minutes of an elite shot blocker and potential high end rebounder who could be a massive threat in lob action and then you get 20 minutes of a brute who draws fouls and is very efficient around the rim. What else do you want/need from your 5?
  8. I mean Payne left Minnesota as a spot starter to go be a spot starter at Texas A&M. He's never averaged more than 23 mpg anywhere . I think he knows and understands his limitations at this stage. I really struggle to see Auburn guaranteeing Flory 30+ mpg next year. Would be a massive jump that ultimately leaves him disappointed. He's just not ready for those kinds of minutes yet.
  9. @Certified Sunshine Pumperwhat's confusing about this? Flory isn't good enough offensively to play 30+ mpg on top of foul issues and Payne has never physically been able to play 30 mpg or really even come close to it. A 22/18 minute split with Payne + Flory at the 5 with Flory playing a 4-5 minutes at the 4 when a bigger lineup is needed would be a good sell for DeVries. With multiple years of eligibility left, a good development year would potentially allow Flory to push 30+ mpg as an upperclassmen.
  10. Neither Flory or Payne are 30+ mpg guys so taking both would solve the 5 spot in a hurry
  11. Should be good to go for the start of the season assuming no set backs.
  12. I've always been under the impression that the dead period exists at this time to encourage all the coaches to get down to the Final Four and attend the conferences. Could be wrong on that but that is what I've always been lead to believe.
  13. He's a good player and his mom is a lunatic. Both can be true. That kind of energy is probably the last thing Coach DeVries needs in his inaugural season here.
  14. I'm genuinely asking a question? Braylon Mullins had the chance to be a Hoosier. He chose UConn. He's never won anything at any level to the point where I've said to myself, "We have to have that kid". Would have been fine with Mullins committing here, but I didn't lose any sleep when he chose UConn, just like I didn't lose any sleep when McRoberts chose Duke. Forgot about him the next day.
  15. McRoberts never won s*** anywhere. Never got out of sectionals despite being the consensus #1 or 2 player in the country. Neither has Mullins. McRoberts Sophomore year Duke they went 22-11, 8-8 in the ACC and was upset in the first round by VCU. Who cares?
  16. What's the infatuation with Mullins still other than him being from Greenfield? He looked severely overmatched last night and that was against peer-aged competition. I think he's in for a huge awakening next year. He's the Josh McRoberts of this generation in my opinion. Never won anything in high school despite boasting several individual accolades. Never will wish ill on a kid, but he had the chance to play at IU or Purdue and chose UConn. Not sure why so many are still pining for him?
  17. DGL is a nice player but his helicopter mom makes him almost untouchable in my opinion. Underwood deserves a medal for putting up with that for two years.
  18. Lol. There's 1400 players in the portal and that number will reach close to 2000 by the time it closes on 4/22.
  19. Who is the D2 player at Auburn?
  20. And brought his entire staff
  21. Kevin Overton from Drake/Texas Tech could be a real possibility
  22. He's a total cancer. Gotten one coach fired (Weber) and had another (Laranaga) quit in the middle of the year. Is 70-68 in games he's played in spanning 4.5 seasons, buoyed heavily by a 29-8 season. Again, hard pass. He's not taking a home town discount to come be a role player at IU. He's the OG bag chaser. NIL earnings have doubled and tripled since he accepted an $800k bag at Miami 3 years ago.
  23. About the response I expected given you can't refute any of it.
  24. Nijel Pack isn't taking a million dollar+ discount to come be the 4th-6th best player lol
  25. He got Bruce Weber fired and Jim Laranaga said "F*** it, I'm out" in the middle of season...both with Pack as the lead player. Weber won the B12 the year before Pack got to K-State and went to the E8 the year prior to that. They fired Weber, Pack left for Miami, and K-State went to the E8 the very next season. Pack was great for Miami as their 4th best player the year they went to the F4, but after Wong and Jordan Miller left they went 9-31 in a bad ACC over the next two seasons. He's an absolute cancer. Pass.
