  1. I think this may be the one leak from Dolson’s side to prepare the fan base for a McCollum/Brownell hire. ”Hey we took a look at Beard but we just can’t pull the trigger given his past”
  2. That I agree although it expires in June. Still think he’s a much safer risk than Chris Beard.
  3. Wade was never an FBI subject of interest. Neither was Sean Miller, Bill Self, etc….the guys on the other end of the phone however were. It’s not against Federal Law to commit NCAA violations. Dolson had zero problem with Woodson hiring Yasir Rosemond.
  4. Probably. Still doesn’t run a fun and conducive offense.
  5. Anyone surprised @Hornsby hasn’t started reciting Book of Revelation passages yet?
  6. From a tactical standpoint, I don’t think his X’s and O’s are any better than someone like Cronin or Brownell who are potential candidates this board are completely out on. But his teams are tough, hard-nosed, and play good defense. With Beard, assuming he can keep his nose clean, he’d make the tournament most years but think you’d see a wide variance in conference finishes on a year to year basis. He’s barely over .500 in-conference at the P5 level.
  7. I’m not sure McCollum is such a gamble if you’re fully committed to supporting him for 4 full years. Unfortunately, that’s rarely the case here.
  8. I would too but any ACC school not named Duke or UNC is going to give McCollum ample time to settle in and do things his way.
  9. Smartest thing you’ve ever said. Well done.
  10. They wouldn’t go after McCasland?
  11. He could win here and win big. Problem is…can he win and win big here in years 1 and 2? If he doesn’t, he’s toast. I just don’t believe at this stage he has the experience and inner-workings to navigate the portal and do an overnight turn around. It’s a huge gamble.
  12. Or just hire Will Wade who is 10 years younger, a better recruiter, plays a more exciting brand of basketball, and more importantly…hasn’t attacked his wife.
  13. Just share, can’t be any worse or more wrong than what we’ve been fed the last two months.
  14. At some point you just have to accept this is where IU is at as a program. Four second weekend appearances in 30 years and six coaches in 25 years. That’s not appealing to a proven coach at the P5 level with success and good job security. Been trying to warn people for a couple months that getting a proven, high-level basketball coach was pretty much a pipe dream…Kentucky and Louisville taught us that this time last year. Beard (who I hate) and Will Wade (my favorite from the start) are available but it’d take a bunch of pride swallowing to make it happen, that’s why they’re available. But there’s a reason why this job is only appealing to up and comers.
  15. Just hire Will Wade before NC State does so we aren’t doing this again 4-5 years from now. If not it’s going to be Brownell or McCollum which is par for the course.
  16. IU has already had to fire one coach for abusive behavior who...checks notes...was a mentor to Chris Beard. They've fired a football coach in the last decade for abuse and mistreatment towards injured players. It's currently in the middle of a lawsuit where former athletes are accusing a team doctor of inappropriate conduct.
  17. When he bit, strangled, bruised, and battered her. I don't care if it was "self-defense" or not. If you're immediate reaction is to lay hands on a person for breaking something a simple as your reading glasses, let alone your freaking fiance, you forfeit the right to coach basketball at Indiana. You make $5mil a year, go buy a new pair in the morning. Anybody defending Beard's actions is a LOSER!
  18. Would you attack your wife if she broke your glasses? You kidding me Clark? Please don't reproduce.
  19. This is the candidate thread...of which Brad Stevens is not.
  20. Will let you know after I read it.
  21. How? The stipulations in the contract he signed have drastically changed. He could argue that he would have resigned on the spot had he known UCLA was moving to the B10 and he'd be away from home for a week at a time every other week.
  22. Better chance of Cronin getting a reduced buyout from UCLA than Brad Stevens coaching at IU. But tell me something I don't know?
  23. He absolutely has leverage. The contract stipulations he signed 3 years ago have either a) drastically changed or b) no longer exist.
  24. Because they would owe him $16mil if they fired him and whatever school hired him wouldn't have to pay a dime. Cronin is pretty much unfirable as he is unhirable right now.
  25. Probably not but that's IU's problem not mine.
