I just think with the amount of money they make today plus the pressure there isn't much reason for them to keep coaching that long. Plus the portal and NIL has already drove out a lot of the older coaches so I don't see coaching college as a fun time

I think the time of thinking the coaching hire being for 20+ years are over. I just don't see coaches today wanting to keep coaching at a place for 40+ years. That is why guys like McDermott or Pearl who are in their 60's still should be considered. If a coach can get us a great 8-10 years that is great.

I doubt the order of the teams in the article has any thing to do with where he is going.

I don't think any of those PG are in the portal yet. I doubt Banks will be back since he isn't even getting mop up minutes in blowouts. I would think Gunn is probably 50/50 if he stays. I also believe if we get Queen he probably will start

I would be a little leery of hiring Paris this quickly. Also read in another thread they are working on an extension with him.

I would think the best of the power conference coach I can see leaving for another power team is the Iowa St. coach

No it's not, is isn't just an IU thing but just a college basketball thing. Where are all of these great coaches leaving for another school. I'm the last few years all of these jobs came open Syracuse Villanova UNC Duke UCLA Mick Cronin was the biggest hire and he came from UC so not a power conference team.

That is what happens when you recruit transfers because you don't have enough time to actually get to know these guys

Also you can't just say you can never hire another mid major coach because one failed. Just show me all of these great coaches who leave a power conference job for another power conference program. Don't need to believe me but like I said Decourcy said it only has happened 15% of the time in the last 10 years

How did he get worse from years 2 to 3. 17-15 to 13-10. Two games over .500 is worse than 3 games over .500. Also played 9 less games in year 3 so you can't look at win totals.

You really want to go with Duke and UNC. Duke Scheyer no head coaching experience UNC Davis no HC experience. I have posted many times that most of the all time great coaches started at a mid major or lower. You just don't see great coaches leaving their jobs to go to other power conference teams Oats Buffalo to Alabama Musselman Nevada to Arkansas. I post these two because these guys came up just like May did.

I hate to tell you this but most power conference hires don't come from other power conferences. It will come from the mid major programs or assistants from high major programs. Mike Decourcy last night said in the last 10 years only 15% of power conference hires came from other power conference.
