So, I don't know if I should be saying this given how negative I've been about student athletes at Indiana University in this forum, which may come back to bite me in the butt, but... I'm going to be reporting on IU Indianapolis athletics for the Horizone Roundtable starting this off season. One, because someone needs to, and two, it's a thankless task that I feel is worth the challenge given that it's hilarious that a school in such a large city has no press coverage.

Why must you be a disgrace to the name "Indiana University", IUPUI?

Honestly, as a guy who bet on the wrong horse and follows IU football, I'm apathetic right now. Like, Woodson can recruit but can't develop talent, based on what I've seen.

IUPUI versus Detroit Mercy is this week. Believe it or not, IUPUI are the underdogs against a winless team.

The program is in a ton of debt, for starters. Methinks there was a reason for the Big Ten move.

Yeah, Southern Indiana, Alcorn State, and Stony Brook really should drag your rankings down.

Indianapolis has Indiana Farmers Coliseum and the new Fishers Event Center as choices. Basically, a 6-10K seat venue for Days 1 and 2 to complement the rest of the tournament, because it's inevitable that the league is going to keep growing.

Considering how they're leaving out smaller schools just to pump NIT viewership ratings, I'd call bull on this myself.

Can I complain about the Big Ten Tournament for a moment? The New system in place for the future means only the top 15 schools get in. I get it's all logistics, but save leaving out the basement dwellers to the Ohio Valley and the Atlantic Sun; conferences where the economics requires that they leave teams out. Ideally the league could play multiple games at two separate venues in the first two days of the tournament, where the crappy schools are in a smaller arena, fighting to make it to the actual venue. You'd likely get 6-8 games knocked out in one day this way. But for Indiana, it does provide a solution to our bad luck at the tournament; can't lose if you don't make it.

Yeah. So, as far as looking at Lebowski's tiers, I got my own: We Are SO Winning These Games!: FIU (Does Florida International even bother with athletics? They got the IU Indianapolis problem where, for a large student body, all the students are there purely for an education and don't really care for sports.) Western Illinois (Team hasn't had any success lately and last season gave up at the end. Plus, they also have changed coaches.) Charlotte (this school has had ONE winning season, if you can call 7-6 that.) We SHOULD Win These Games, But... It's the Big Ten, You Know Northwestern (school nuked their football program and is building from scratch, it'll be interesting to see how the team looks) That Damn School Up in West Lafayette (I just want to beat them again) Michigan State (want to see a Spartans fan cry? Beat them by four touchdowns.) Maryland (Maryland's actually improving and legitimizing themselves, but they're also still Maryland at the end of the day, meaning they aren't invincible.) Anything is possible, but don't bet on it Nebraska (Cornhuskers had a mediocre season last year with Rhule's first go around, but I'm pretty cautious about giving IU the win against them compared to Maryland if only because Nebraska is the type of program that sniffs its own farts) UCLA (We are going to the Rose Bowl! Except it's in September... and we play the Bruins... and UCLA's probably going to be ranked) Washington (Minus DeBoer, minus Penix, minus a bunch of talent... still threatening) Yeah, No Michigan (They won the National Championship, and even if they have a typical hangover season or Jim Harbaugh leaves for the NFL, they would have more than enough talent to beat us) Ohio State (C'mon... it's Ohio State) Still, a 7-8 win season for Curt is pretty impressive.

Western Illinois went 0-11 last season. If we can't beat them, we're absolutely in trouble.

McNeese State is pretty much gonna win the Southland by virtue of them being the only one with a winning record, but yeah, Howard is... uh, not very good.

I mean, we won. I just wish we won bigger so we didn't have these blemishes against mediocre Ohio Valley schools.
