Two close games, though. Seems like maybe we are getting close to getting over that pesky hump. If the game lasted 39 minutes, we’d be set.

Blaming fans for booing is like a person on my 600 pound life blaming the food.

I wonder if fans booing is simply all part of the process.

And they should have been fired even sooner. Davis and Miller for sure stayed too long. Crean maybe deserved his last year but it was obvious where the program was going. And now we have Woodson. Her narrative may be silly. But until Woodson is fired before the end of the season, she’s correct. Even if it’s trolling.

She may be trolling. But her position that IU is slow to make decisions is true. And the smoke that a decision may be made before the season’s end is just smoke so far. That doesn’t mean it can’t happen. But while she may be trolling, she’s been correct. We will see if that changes.

And that, my friends, is why IU basketball is simply fodder for good teams to play. Nothing like setting the bar to “don’t break the rules”.

The other argument is, we squeak into the tourney, win a game, and then the Woodson cadre say, see? We are back. I don’t buy the argument from rational people that that wouldn’t be good enough.

Yep. And I’m not specifically meaning you. She has taken a lot of grief here, much deserved. But her basic premise that IU doesn’t work in the way we would like to fire him now may end up the most likely scenario.

We can joke about Cathy but her prediction is still on the table and may end being correct if he’s with us through the end of the season.

The fact that he has any leverage is all that needs to be said about how bad the IU basketball program is.

Hmm, a failed coach is going out kicking and screaming and IU should give a crap? IU should say you have coached your last game. Do you want us to announce you have been fired or do you want to have a different story to tell the public? Why we would negotiate anything beyond what’s in the contract is silly if it means he remains coach. But, shitty decision makers are why we are in this mess, so throwing good money after bad is on par.

I’m now on the side that if optics is playing a role, and he is for sure gone, then now is a perfect time. I don’t know anyone personally who would be surprised or upset if he was fired. But letting him stay opens the possibility that IU squeaks into the tourney or wins some games against good teams. Then optics may get dicey. No reason to risk that.

If there is a plan to make a mid-season move that depends on the outcome of specific games, it’s a terrible plan. Which is why I don’t think there is a plan to get rid of him mid-season. If there isn’t enough evidence to get rid of him now for the head honchos, then he’s coaching the rest of the season.

I don’t see how this loss is on the King. He shouldn’t have to tell them to foul when we had a foul to give. He can’t make Malik not score on his perfectly planned final play. He can’t help that randomly putting in players with 3 seconds left wouldn’t confuse Maryland. And he can’t help it if Rice misses a gimme as the clock expires.

Just gotta get over the hump of being up by 4 at home with less than a minute to go. totally doable

Glad Maryland decided just to make this a 3 point shooting game, so hope their prayers don’t start getting answered.

Whichever team starts to play well on defense wins this game. Both teams pretty much getting shots they want too easily.

That we need to get blown out or some other “optics” for us to maybe, perhaps, if the stars align make a change shows how much of a clown show IU has become. Yes. Getting destroyed by Maryland…. That would do it. People thinking Woodson is gone by the end of the year is cute. I remember thinking Santa was real, too. Good times.

Agree. But what’s baffling to me is how some people say IU fans are being too harsh. No. IU is being too soft. It’s truly amazing. If IU moves on from Woodson this year great. And for those who are 100% confident, I wish I could be also. But IU has screwed the pooch too many years to give confidence. I’ll believe it when it’s official.

And I hope you’re right. I truly do. I’m just tired of IU accepting average results. Before I retired, if I had a person reporting to me with Woodson’s record, he’d be fired. Not even a question. In fact, I would have been gone if it didn’t make a change. And we are talking about positions that made maybe $200k. Good money but not what Woodson is making. But IU fans are supposed to take it. I truly hope we make a change. But the fact that we accept what is being put out for this kinda money is amazing to me.

Here is where we are. Insiders are telling people things that are not true. Maybe they think it’s true. But it doesn’t really matter. Those people go to social media and say this is what I’m hearing. IU fans, thinking that IU cares about winning basketball, fall for the insider tidbits. We get fooled. And then we come back for more because we want IU to be good. But the power brokers don’t actually care about winning basketball And that’s where we are. so

And it may happen. But the same smoke was there last year. Some were saying it was basically done. Until it wasn’t. I just find it hard to imagine IU wouldn’t fire him last year but at 5-4 if we lose Wednesday that’s it for him. I hope so. But tea leaves mean jack **** at this point.
