Then they have too many people involved in the details or the people involved are shitty at their job. Maybe it’s because it’s a public entity that so many people need to be involved but it’s one thing for it to leak that so and so is a top candidate. It’s another thing for details about pay and timing to leak. People should be fired if the details are true. Or, people are hearing what they want to hear.

Before I retired, I was involved in high level negotiations at my company for personnel decisions. It was nothing like the money/position we are talking about here, and nothing ever leaked on our end until it was done. The biggest red flag to the update are the actual details. What moron who knew them would talk? But, some people are addicted to hopium.

To me, it all comes down to how much he wants to coach at IU. He’s gonna get paid either way. If he really wants to coach at IU and is offered the job, it may be his only chance. Question is: how important is it to him?

Agree. Again, I’ve always thought Stevens is a long shot. But what is he supposed to say if someone asks him if he is a candidate for the IU job? When Dusty was asked, he gave an answer that everyone expected and no one thought, well, he is out. And maybe Stevens said more than that quote.

I’m just the opposite on May. Part of me last year was in the….OK, but can he do it at a higher level? And he has Michigan competing for a Big 10 title after a crappy record last year. If we had hired May and had their record right now, we would be thrilled.

As someone who doesn't know any insiders and is skeptical of the Stevens stuff (not because I don’t believe what people are hearing but because I’m Charlie Brown kicking the football) but it’s possible that the heat got turned up too much, Dolson told everyone to STFU, Stevens issued his non-denial denial, and things progress with the heat turned down. Again, I don’t now, nor have I ever thought we would likely get Stevens. So this isn’t some hopium from someone wishcasting.

I’m so far out of the loop, I don’t believe anything until it happens. But I’m also not out here pissing on people’s parade. Anyone who blames insiders on a message board for info needs to evaluate their lives. Having said that, if IU messes up this hire, I don’t know what to say. But IU and Dolson will not mess this up. So let’s freakin go. Time to step up and leave no doubt.
