How bad were the emails? That seems like a potential breach of contract situation?
-
The argument from QB was “Archie got 4 years, so does woody. And here’s $6mm to buy a team” and underachieve
-
It seems like he’s 99.9% gone imo. Dolson was ready to move on last season.
-
Let’s see what happens after NW. I don’t trust Woodson at NW vs Collins
-
I hear you. Collins is just a 10x better coach. he would be on my personal short list, but still don’t think it goes past Stevens & May.
-
If they get buried at NW, it’ll get interesting. Very tough stretch after that.
-
Then at Purdue and Wisky. Two more tough ones after MD. Then Mich and Mich St. Tough stretch.
-
I personally don’t think they win at NW. maybe this win bought him a weekend, but if IU gets buried at NW, it’ll be an interesting couple of days before MD
-
Agree. Don’t see him wanting the job full time.
-
I hope. Only concern is OSU or Texas situation, but that seems like a 3% chance of happening (or less)
-
Dolson had him lined up. QB had him turned down. IU is May’s first choice and dream job.
-
And I’m not defending it, but can understand it. At least at the time.
-
Typical business negotiation. Both parties got something out of it. Plus, the program was on a different trajectory than it is now. There were definitely high hopes going into this season. the buyout structure is very appealing for Dolson now thank goodness.
-
Was the buyout restructured at the same time tho?
-
He has no aspirations to be the IU coach. No risk of them making a run and maybe having to hire him (ie - Texas and O$U). I assume Ya wants to be a head coach and maybe Hunter has the desire?
-
Cheaney made the most sense as he wouldn’t want the full time job anyway. Makes sense why Dolson asked him first. Also not surprised he said no.
-
If Louisville nor Kentucky didn’t hire him, no chance he’ll end up at IU.
-
I really think Dolson is spending more time with Donors and lining up NIL than a candidate list right now. This has been a year plus in the works. He knows who he wants and has buy-in from those parties. Im sure Brad wants to get past the NBA trade deadline in February. If for some reason he bails again, it’s all in on Dusty.
-
There was a tweet that Dolson wanted him last year and QB got involved - again. I’m guessing Dolson told May to give him one more year. Hence the buyout. allegedly May chose UM over Louisville bc Louisville wouldn’t agree to the buyout. UM was desparate to get back on track; hence why they agreed to it. Usually those buyouts are like 20mm+. if May doesn’t end up at in this offseason, his buyout will change with UM.

It’s been a rollercoaster for 3+ years. When your boss acts the way he does with recruiting and towards other people, it trickles down. Zero leadership from the boss. Zero on the team. Throw millions of dollars at kids and it only gets worse when your leader is the way he is. I’m not sure if there was a specific incident, but this team has zero heart.
-
Ha. I don’t think it goes past May given his IU buyout he has with UM.
-
I’m sure Louisville and Kentucky vetted him too. And obviously passed.
-
Correct
-
Stevens and May. Won’t go past May.
-
Collins would be hired before Beard.
