  1. White boy that played for Iowa and now Creighton. Dix I think?
  2. I want to make the tourney for Wilkerson’s sake. He deserves it
  3. The rally house in FW at the old mall actually carries a pretty good selection of apparel.
  4. I’m not much for sports twitter but Dabo vs Ol Miss. lane Kiffen weighs in on LSU vs Ol Miss. Brett Beilema making fun of both of them. what a sport…
  5. Can Conerway go back to the bench. Enright Wilkerson Dorn Tucker and Alexis had the ball moving pretty good.
  6. They’re not good. Hopefully them allowing us to get in a rhythm pays off and we start clicking in tougher games.
  7. I’m going to pretend to be shocked that the ball and our offense moves better without Conerway
  8. Over lunch I spoke with a friend of mine that has a company that makes sports products. Most of you have either seen or own their stuff. He was saying that IU stuff was flying off the shelves and has been the last few weeks. The only thing comparable he says is NFL stuff, which is the 800lb gorilla in the room of any American sports discussion. Whether it is Devries or the next guy, the coach that gets IU basketball back to championship status will live like a king and be paid similarly. If it isn’t obvious from my posting, I think my number 1 pet peeve with IU are the people—fellow fans, coaches, and admin—who blame the fans. I’d love to see UNC and UK fans go 3 out of 10 years making the tourney and see what their attendance looks like. I’d love to see KU and Duke go to one (fluke) Final Four in 25 years and see their NIL. UCLA has some of the most fickle fans around and they’ve fallen bass-akward into 4 final fours this century. But…what are you gonna do? Me…I’ll probably watch us at Rutgers tonight.
  9. It’sa different world in the NFL even from when Luck played. QBs are protected more than even in college. He should be ok unless he feels like he can’t succeed except for running.
  10. Worked for cig once and he wants him back? I can’t see why this hire wouldn’t work out. He doesn’t seem like the type to tolerate mediocrity and certainly not the type to rehire someone mediocre.
  11. That catch at PSU will be included on any highlight reel for IU football’s season. I just hope for the ones that go they get drafted high to good teams.
  12. I’ve been reading comments all week about what a wonderful special place IU is to play and how the fans are some of the best in the world. Of course, those comments were coming from football players. Who should we listen to: national champion football players or a bunch of Woody cast-offs?
  13. Yet, he’s been unable to scheme around it. And it started before B1G play. I’m sure he’s a talented Xs and Os guy. But getting that conveyed to the players on the floor is also a coaching skill. It’s not happening with this team. There are definitely coaches/teams/systems that can free up shooters without a big. Yet the first time Bailey slips a screen and misses the layup we abandoned it for a while and our guys look like they’re stuck in mud on the perimeter. I think the roster excuse has covered up for some bad coaching, too. There are more things that need fixed next year than just the roster.
  14. His stats are basically identical to last years. Looking at his game logs, he looks like the player he is this year. He’s consistent against midmajor and below teams and inconsistent against P5 competition. He’s not nothing at IU. He’s just too slow and quite frankly disengaged to be effective on defense. I remember watching him at Drake. He looked the same. Size of a high major. Great skills, but pretty slow and grounded. But lots of starters are slower at that level. Didn’t hold him back much then. Deal breaker at the P5 level. I mean, as father, I get it. I’m not trying to belabor the point because lots of good coaches play their kid when they shouldn’t. But as an IU fan it is Just one more kick in the nuts, in a long line of them, that our hotshot new coach in Year 1 loads up his team with seniors plus his senior kid to try and have a nice season for his boy.
  15. I’m not sure I understand this often repeated excuse. Aren’t 40% (2/5) of our starters former Drake/Devries guys? One is his son. Shertz took two guys to St. Louis with him. Dusty May took just Godin, I think. Kelsey only had two CoC guys among his top 7 scorers. The problem isn’t that Devries didn’t get to bring his guys. It’s that his scouting on “his guys” was just as bad as the scouting on all the other guys.
  16. That chart above has us top 10. I don’t know if it’s right. Nobody really does but it seems in line with most estimates all offseason. General consensus seems to have IU safely somewhere from 5th-20th in roster spend. In a sport where only a 100ish teams matter in any real sense and 68 make the tourney, that should be plenty to get at least above average results. Not to take anything away from the man himself, but it seems to me one of Cigs comparative advantages is having a staff he knows, taught, and is loyal to him. Haines, especially, seems like a Cig protégé and loyalist. With IU paying top dollar for staff and not putting any restrictions (ie keep IU guys like Hulls or Calbert) it’s odd that there was trouble fielding a staff.
  17. Yea, I thought so. Brought UK another title and UNC 3 more titles bringing them even with Indiana historically. Wait…that last part isn’t so cool. But Indiana could’ve had Dusty May if they would’ve fired Woody after year 3. But I understand why you don’t like the “Fire xxx” threads, because if we pulled up the “Fire Woody” thread we would find thousands of posts from you defending giving Woody his fourth year and about how awesome he was going to be with his new transfers.
  18. You have to reach down and hire someone promising but unproven instead of bid top dollar for the latest hot name. Florida paid Golden $18/6 to leave San Francisco. I can’t find buyout numbers, but we might be able to infer the contract was a little flimsy from the fact that they already redid it for him in ‘24 with a small bump in salary. They obviously redid it again for him last year with a huge bump in salary. McCasland signed a similar deal initially out of N Texas. His buyout was 70%. So not only did IU dish out a premium in salary, it looks like we juiced the buyout another 10% which isn’t nothing.
  19. We never shoot well there, unfortunately. A decent shooting night and we should win.
  20. Cig talked about a “paradigm shift” in his presser yesterday. If Devries doesn’t work out, I think the AD, Pres, and BoT would be wise to take the philosophy and apply it to how they hire basketball coaches. You can’t keep doing the same thing over and over and expect the results to change.
  21. We’re not Nebraska bad. As bad as we’ve been we’re not close to that bad. And as such nobody at IU is waiting 7 years for a turn around. I’ll go on record right now and say if CDD thinks he can wait until year 5 to make the tourney, IU will be done with him sooner than later.
  22. lol…yep. Never in the game for a single second but made it look respectable in garbage time.
  23. You can tell we suck because Hummel doesn’t feel threatened and actually compliments us.
