Because 8 years ago there were countless articles calling Archie college basketball's next elite coach.

I don't understand the college basketball landscape at all. I don't understand what 9, 10, 11 million per year will get you anymore. If we don't finally just make someone, that is worth it, the highest paid coach in college basketball....I just don't understand at all. It communicates one of three things to me. Either the IU job is just not an attractive job anymore to any top coach, or we aren't serious about turning this around, or both. Pay enough money, and you're going to get the best out there. The donors are only willing to pony up the big dollars for the one guy they know IU can't get.

I'd give Cig another season before you crown him. We played 2 good teams all season and got torched both times. He was also able to bring a bunch of his JM guys with him. Just reminds me of Tom Allen's covid year where we didn't beat a single team that finished in the top 25 and he got a near $40M buyout for it then the wheels came off. Many of us called it at the time. Expect a lot of 7-5 finishes from Cig which is certainly fine.

Goodman is a clown but he hates IU with a passion. Wants nothing more than to see us look like fools. He's also well connected and has great sources. He's known the whole time guys like Brad and Drew were never remotely an option. We tried warning you. You bought into the nonsense yet again. The good news is that BM seems like a solid coach. He could definitely be our Bo Ryan for the next 20+ years. An equally good chance that he completely implodes. We shall see. But at there's hope unlike with a Brownell or McDermott.

Yeah we're too impatient. Crean just needed more time. A near decade wasn't enough and that perfectly explains why he flopped at Georgia. Same for Mike Davis just needed more time. His firings at UAB and Detroit are the IU fans fault. Archie just needed more time. Also perfectly explains why he's about to be fired by RI. Woodson just needed more time. Perfectly explains why no one in the NBA would even give him a look anymore. And when UNC fires Davis next season after he won the ACC last year and went to the national title game in year 1 you won't hear a damn peep from this jackass.

I think what people are saying is that it's virtually impossible to get anyone but 2 and 3 star recruits at NW. You could argue that a prime time Bobby Knight would have had difficulty winning any more games than Collins has at NW. We don't know if that's true or not. He would be no riskier than a mid major hire at all.

Mike Davis said his dream job was to coach in the NBA while coaching IU.
