I expected McCollum to put on a clinic and that's exactly what's happening. Why do we screw up every hire we make? It's really unbelievable. Seeing a lot of Archie similarities with DeVries. Just isn't cut out for a big time job.
I think most people just wanted him to do what Kelsey, Pope, and Dusty did in their first season. Somehow it's always very doable at other schools but at IU it's always a multi year rebuild.
I'm willing to forgive this season. DeVries proved he is a good coach at Drake and did as well as anyone could have with what he had at WVU. He had to put together an entire roster in a month or so with no staff. It was also the first time in his career he had ever had to do such a thing. But next season must be much much better. No excuses or he likely doesn't survive.
He needs to do better at spending his money. If I had $10M I would probably try to get 3 studs at $2M each. Then spend the other $4M on mid major guys I thought we're a good fit.
He's probably gonna need $15M to compete for a B1G title and a FF though.
Yeah. Need to go 12-8 to even be on the bubble. We have zero quality wins. And with how our B1G schedule is set up we won't have many opportunities. We aren't beating any good teams on the road.
We need to have some good wins. We already have one bad loss. What other opportunities do we have for really good wins?
And if you remember there was a year Nebraska went 13-7 I believe and still got left out as they didn't have many quality wins.
