  1. Yep. He's Delray Brooks, Marty Simmons, or Mike Giomi. For the younger generation that says, who? Exactly.
  2. "Hey Armaan, Xavier Johnson is REALLY looking forward to meeting you!" Good luck in the lane.
  3. If Fife was part of our resurgence, and showed years of loyalty, I'm sure he would get strong consideration. You would have to think CMW would have strong sway and would want to reward Fife at that point. I hope we enjoy the level of success that this becomes an option.
  4. Absolutely. This is that gray area you have to operate in to win. You have to always put feelers out to see what options are available. If you know the hot girl's best friend, you'd be wise to ask her to gauge interest and put in a good word for you.
  5. Good points on system familiarity. He knows packline well, although he got beat off the dribble frequently. His length helps with closeouts and deflections. Offensively he will still be in a slow, methodical, albeit much more efficient, offense. Not sure how much higher his numbers would be due to pace. The ACC isn't nearly as physical as the B1G, so maybe that is appealing. I still get back to the life after basketball factor. Wings his size are pretty common. The odds of him having a lengthy NBA career are still low. One significant injury derails everything. If he stays committed to IU and is part of our resurgence, he and his family are set up well for life due to relationships. Not to mention, mama's social media standing does MUCH better in the state if he stays, assuming she values that.
  6. Loving the coach was a general reason kids might factor in, not necessarily attributable to Archie. Agree on the body language of kids. They seemed finished mentally. Sometimes the well is just too poisoned in a person's mind to allow a change in thought or feeling about the situation. All of those reasons are why a fresh start is sometimes easier for the player, and also the coach recruiting. If certain players still need to be sold at this point, they may fall into the fresh start category.
  7. It depends on the situation. Keeping a content kid from the state that loves the school, yes. Keeping a kid that loved the former coach, had negative experiences with fans booing and social media, or just wants a fresh start? Probably not as easy as a new recruit with a blank slate.
  8. Johnson and Brooks would be incredible.
  9. I got to talk with Christian at several of Trendon's high school games. He and his family LOVE IU! Appreciate his thoughts on coach Woodson.
  10. When Rob is in attack mode, he is at his best. He has a nice shot, just obviously lacks confidence at times. I agree that indecision in what the offense is supposed to do could lead to hesitation, and slowing the pace to think instead of just playing. Push the pace. If the drive is there, take it. If the the pass to TJD is there because he outruns plodding big men, make it. If the defense is scrambling to get back and leaves you open for 3, nail it. Maybe CMW gives him the hug Bardo was talking about Rob needing, then kicks him in the @$$ and tells him to get to it!
  11. Agreed. And the scholarship SHOULD be fair game. It's the schools, not the players. I suspect some kids are going to learn some hard life lessons during this process.
  12. Definitely have a deadline so kids can't jerk a program around all spring and summer. It will eventually calm down like most things do with time. Once a few kids flop at new schools, or get left without a scholarship at top schools and have to settle for somewhere less than ideal, this new concept of college free agency will lose some of its shine.
  13. I'll take 84 in a 70. Plenty familiar with that!
  14. I see your point, but there are numerous quotes and interviews with NBA stars speaking glowingly of Woody regarding the trust they have in him for speaking the truth. Antigua is as slick and dirty as they come in recruiting. Hope the Franklins do their homework.
  15. Agree it doesn't make sense to transfer to Illinois for similar playing opportunities. We'll have to see what our style of play looks like, but it took Ayo longer than expected to position himself for the draft. That being said. Armaan and his mom might want to talk to Mr. Gunn about what potential opportunities IU provides former players AFTER basketball. He seems to see the BIG picture. You don't think Coach Woodson and Dolson might have some influential connections to help with financial opportunities after his playing days are over? Especially a kid from Indy? Pretty short sighted in my humble opinion.
  16. So Brunk is basically a bonus scholarship for this year. Perfect. I want all our guys back, but hope CMW makes it perfectly clear that spots will be filled. Players get to consider options, and so do we.
  17. Love it. 110,000 is pretty specific. Any idea how much we might be willing to spend for Lewis?
  18. I would agree and even contend NBA free agency is even more like recruiting the transfer portal, which is growing in importance. Those kids and their parents have already been through the recruiting process once, and should be more savvy toward false promises, and looking for authenticity in relationships.
  19. Steady, confident, and he sounds like Tone Loc. Just seems like he has a plan and can't wait to implement it.
  20. For sure. But how nice to have your new head coach be able to guide you and give objective, highly experienced feedback on the NBA. What a great opportunity to build trust with TJD and the other players.
  21. This is pure gold. Love all the theories and rumors. Really appreciate our insiders sharing all they hear. Nobody knows anything concrete other than Dolson, so let the fun continue. We will make a great hire, and will rally around our new general. (Lower case g) Also love the fact the press and paid sites know nothing. Eat it. Our theories are just as good as their guesses. Please don't argue with the losers on Twitter; don't give those deadbeats validation. Let's have fun and ride this wave until the end.
  22. It's always interesting to see how people respond under stress. We all want our Hoosiers to win. Gotta be ready to roll no matter who it is!
  23. Agreed. Please help me out with how he would meet the criteria Dolson outlined in his press conference.
