  1. A seat next to Wells on the bench.
  2. It is like the anti-Woodson approach....thank the Lord.
  3. Water under the bridge. He isn't here and is likely to never be associated with Indiana University so at this point who cares? My team is on the floor...
  4. I forgot the Euro we had committed too. I think having some continuity with a fresh coaching perspective wouldn't necessarily be a bad thing. I don't think you want to bring in a ton of Freshmen and have to rely on them. Frankly I take Rice over the guard he has committed. I know what I can get with Rice and he has 2 years of Power 5 basketball under his belt. He was a decent Freshman, I would like to see what he could do with a coach who has both feet in the job again.
  5. So Devries has had success with guards, wasn't there rumor that Nijel Pack would like to come back to Indiana (state of)? Maybe put some feelers out to him if he still has eligibility. We need a PG too. He'll have to see if he feels he can work with Rice and Carlyle. Could he bring back Goode, Rice, Carlyle, add Tucker Devries and Nijel Pack along with Sisley and then hit the portal for some more bigs? I know some people want to blow everything up but I think there are maybe some pieces on the team to work with. Rice and Carlyle were pretty good defenders and they weren't awful offensively at their last stops, maybe a new coach helps them. Goode has been an Indiana kid since he was a child, I think that connection helped out. There are some other dudes on the team that we could maybe work with too. I think the goal in year one would be to reach or eclipse the 22 win plateau and make the tournament. You can build from there.
  6. Well I mean the only hire in-between those was Can't Get Over the Humpty Dumpty....and that was a head scratching Hail Mary of a hire if there ever was one. And I am not a Goodman fan. On another note, I don't think this fanbase is as "delusional" as the sports press likes to paint it. Woodson was being a lazy @$$ in this job. People around the state do watch this program and everyone knew Grampa didn't want to do any work outside the season and a couple weeks around portal time...and most of that work was just dragging a bag of money through the room and seeing who grabbed hold of it. And he antagonize the fans to boot. Archie did a crap job. He missed the tournament at least 3 out of 4 years and was on the bubble in the COVID season that got canceled. There aren't many programs or fanbases that have the support of an Indiana (or anything close to it) that wouldn't have had the same reaction. We get a bad rap because our AD has made bad hires. Period. On a related note after watching the linked video up above, **** Tyler Hansbrough. He doesn't like Indiana because the Pacers wasted a pick on his sorry @$$ and he sucked an entire bag of D while he was here. And UNC is already not happy with their craptastic coach too. So glass houses you powder blue ******.

  8. So it looks like Devries. My opinion, I am fine with it. I thought the Stevens stuff was unlikely and the Kentucky and Louisville searches last year kind of showed that there aren't '"big time" coaches looking to jump ship these days. And to be frank, I don't think their are any guys I would really point to as being for sure elite these days. There were a bunch of big names who left the sport over the past 5 or so years and now we have a bunch of guys clawing over each other to be in that spot. NIL has leveled out playing fields a bit too. Bill Self is an okay coach but Bill Self used to have the ability to make sure his Jim's and Joe's were usually a step above most other programs. Same as Calipari. Same as Kryzewski. North Carolina has been struggling. It is a little different environment now and anyone who wasn't preparing themselves to be slightly underwhelmed by the hire wasn't paying attention. And frankly, that is a you problem. This isn't a flashy or sexy hire and maybe that is exactly what this program needs to ground itself again. We have complained about the style over substance and winning the offseason for the past decade so maybe getting more of a lunch pail guy and building up a bit is the way to go. If he wins, the people complaining now will be back on the bandwagon in short order. I am down to give the dude a chance. Bring his kid with him (with some other players) and mix them in with some current players and I think we could have a decent team in year one. We had dudes on this team who were pretty well thought of coming in, be interested to see them coached by a staff that is 100% committed to everything that is required of a college basketball coach. Let's see what he can do before we start dumping on him.
  9. Really went out on a limb there didn't he.
  10. Indiana has been juicing coaching contracts every four years for most of this century. We are like the coaching profession's quadrennial stimulus check.
  11. I have it on good authority that Ana de Armas reached out to me one final time to see if I would return her affections and she was unfortunately rebuffed. Source? Trust me bro.
  12. Because I think it was more Woody's ego vs. Eric's ego and they ended up in a passing match with each other. They Hysterics are loose cannons and I think the University should be a little more active in controlling it's image. Those guys basically had the "Officially Licensed Indiana University" stamp on them and when outsiders talk about a toxic environment, I think they would be at the top of that list. And they aren't reliable reporters. They carried Woodson's water for years and then aired the laundry after they got cut off. It makes total sense for Dolson to cut out wildcards with the next hire. We need this to go well and the last thing you want is people who were given special access staying close to your program when they have been shown to backstab you in the past. And frankly as a content consumer, I think it is better to not have these guys attached at the hip to IU either because it causes them to withhold info (as the Hysterics have admitted).
  13. I think Rabjohns burned some bridges with the school during Woodson's tenure too. If I were the AD, I would cut quite a bit of the access to the guys who have to make a living off Indiana sports clicks. I think that Woodson was an @$$ and deserving of all the criticism, but if you are the school you can't have all the parasite sites bad mouthing your coach and frankly I think those sites are more useful when they aren't a mouthpiece for the school. The Hoosier Hysterics would be DOA if I were Dolson too.
  14. They have already shared their opinions. At this point I kind of feel like they are going to find out if they were right around the same time as the rest of us.
  15. I don't believe this. And if it is true, how bad do you really want the job that you would let a teenager make the decision for you?
  16. So by AD do they mean Scott Dolson, then associate AD Harper, and then the coach and his agent? I still think this is some out of left field candidate or, this is crazy because I will be shocked if it is him, Stevens. There is enough cloak and dagger around this to support the latter though. Wish their timeline to announce aligned with mine...lol.
  17. He admits to being a former player. Read through that whole thread and you get an idea of what is wrong with the program straight from is mouth (unbeknownst to him).
  18. For me, he is just another blah hire. As you mentioned, he was in a tough ACC and he was a 18-14, I rarely make the tournament coach, when he had that type of competition. The most successful he has had has been when that league fell off...hard. Indiana does have some built in advantages and one of them is negated out the door for him. Even the casual fans are going to be, "Who?!" on that type of hire. Other schools have money. MSU, UM, Purdue, Louisville, and Kentucky are teams that are probably going to need to be fought off pretty hard for recruiting and in the portal you have to hope that your boosters (who loved Woodson) are going to be willing to throw the same cash behind a meh hire. McCollum is at least a hope hire. It isn't love for him so much as it is really disliking the idea of Brownell. Brownell is just throwing in the towel. Which whatever, if that is what Indiana wants to do I don't the summer bull **** tour and all the "This is Indiana" type of crap they run out every year. This hasn't been INDIANA in a long @$$ time and landing on ******* Brad Brownell would just be a complete capitulation. And that dude is getting one year. He rolls out 19-13 in year one, the fans are going to lose their **** on Dolson and the entire AD, particularly if hires they have passed up the past few years are performing well. If Dolson took a year thinking he would need to make this hire and all he could come up with is the mediocre @$$ coach from Clemson, then he failed miserably.
  19. He will have it hard because he will have one foot in the grave on his first day. Literally no honeymoon. He is the Univeristy going out and saying, "We are a 20-10 program and so we hired a 20-10 coach."
  20. Nah, we get who we get. I am not going to jump on anyone either way.
  21. Yeah I still think this is going to be an out of left field hire. Seems like that is usually the case. Guess we find out soon.
  22. I agree with that, do you think Brownell is that? I think he is average. Out of most of the names that have been tossed around here for the past few months, I can't think of too many that I would rank below him on my wish list. There are a bunch of names on the list where I would think, "OK, let's see where this goes...." but he would have about the shortest leash out of all of them. He is Tom Crean at Indiana if he is lucky. And that looks good in comparison to what has been but...meh. I could always be wrong but I think Brownell means we are back here again in 4 or 5 years having missed the tournament 2 or 3 times in his tenure doing all of this nonsense all over again. And if he is what Indiana aspires to be, fine, but the school needs to diial down it's own propaganda around the program exponentially if that is the case. Iowa doesn't get the support of Indiana. They don't pretend they are on a higher level than they are. If we are going to be Iowa, the school needs to act like it.
  23. That is kind of what I am clinging to. I can't remember which hiring it was, but a few back all the sudden Lon Kruger's name came out and he was the leading candidate for the job and then it ended up going in a totally different direction (and people flipped out about it being him too). I think (hope) Brownell is this year's Lon Kruger. That meh pick that is out there as a smoke screen so everybody is like "Oh lord, not him" and whoever is picked is a sigh of relief...."Well, we'll see how it goes with "X" but at least it wasn't Lon Kruger (Brad Brownell)....."
