    Oh yeah. I remember it well. Through most of its years, it was only open from 3:00 AM until 3:00 PM. That made it really popular with bar employees, musicians and third shift workers. Great place, great food, great prices, but most of all GREAT PEOPLE. The place was a treasure.

    I can picture a packed house for next year's opening game. Woodson is introduced over the PA as the coach and the crowd ROARS! One of our returning players turns to another one and says "What's that noise?"

    We do a lot of odd things with our language and pronunciation. For example, show me where the "R" is is the military rank of Colonel. And yet it is pronounced more like Kernel.

    Colleges do that too. Ever see some of the "official" measurements from NBA combines? Funny how so many kids suddenly lose an inch or two or three when measured by the NBA.

    You want to recruit the Department of Motor Vehicles? OK, I hear they are good at driving the lanes and passing.

    They are talking about not having him back on TV. He is bad on radio at times. He wants to get into political areas and lets that get in the way of his sports show. He's entitled to his opinions, of course, but sometimes he goes way overboard for a sports show. Emmis has a political talk station. Maybe he should get a show on that instead.

    Ahh, yes. Good ol' Calamine College. Not a bad School of Medicine, but the students are always doing something rash.

    One of the things he did during a broadcast that really cracked me up was in reaction to a call by Tony Brothers he didn't like. "Tony, pack your bag and get out of here!" Yeah, Slick wasn't one to hold back much. You could hear the disgust in his voice on that one.

    I was always under the impression that non-conference games were, for the most part, scheduled a few years in advance. Is that not the case? Maybe I'm remembering all the Home-and-Home series we used to have with schools like Notre Dame and KY.

    Well of course skill level is important for any position. Kind of goes without saying. At the same time, skill level with size is going to help out a lot more.

    How many of those guys are "true" 5's though. I'm sorry, and maybe I'm just old, but I don't look at guys who are 6'8" or 6'9" as being "true 5's". Well, unless your name is Ray Tolbert. :)

    HA! I do hope you are right, but got a chuckle out of this part. If there are ever awards for famous last words, that would have to be on the list of contenders.

    When I fist saw that picture I thought he had fallen asleep with his head on the arm of his sofa, and it just stayed like that when he got up. HA! Just kiddin' of course.

    That is great and all, but let's remember that guys were not going to MSU to play for Fife. They were going to MSU to play for Izzo.
