  1. Mike Woodson even said Mike Woodson came back "to win Big Ten titles and a national title". Does Mike Woodson think Mike Woodson has got IU and Mike Woodson closer to those goals? Metrics say no. On Torvik, Mike Woodson is currently worse (90) than both predecessor's year 3 which is saying something to be worse than Archie Miller (56) and Tom Crean's 3rd year (85) in the midst of a total rebuild. Maybe we can find a rule that says those that speak in 3rd person are finished after their 3rd season.
  2. Article when Woodson was fired from the Hawks... https://www.espn.com/nba/news/story?id=5188712 Woodson felt he deserved a chance to return after the Hawks became just the seventh team in NBA history to win more games than the previous season for five straight years. But it was clear that some players had tuned him out, especially in the playoffs. Atlanta struggled to beat a short-handed Milwaukee team in the opening round, rallying from a 3-2 deficit to win in seven games. Then came a total rout in the conference semifinals.
  3. The same Brad Stevens who didn't make the NCAA tournament the year after back to back championship games and had 9 losses to 100+ ranked teams that year?
  4. That's an impressive list of coaches. With the exception of Dana Kirk who I know nothing about and morality issues aside, I'd take any of these coaches any day...
  5. So let me get this straight... Dusty May went to the Final Four and is barely hanging on this year with an 19-5 (9-2) record. I'll give you that 4 of the 5 losses are to "bad" teams but it is by a combined 18 points. You expect them to flame out early in the tourney this year based on something... While you argue that Mike Woodson who didn't make it to the Final Four (losing in the 2nd round) and has a 14-10 (6-7) record should get another year to (ie not be in hot water) turn it around. I'll only call 2 of the 10 as "bad" losses by a combined 23 points. He won't get a chance to flame out early in the tournament this year based on not making it...
  6. Thanks guys. Duh. I knew I was tired this morning, but me missing on this confirms it.
  7. Can you elaborate on the moving trucks? Is this normal? Why would they be cleaning everything out/making it empty by the time the team gets back (in-season)?
  8. Thanks for this. It gives me real hope atm whether Woodson is retained or let go. I wish I could like this more than once.
  9. I know you made the case for Otzelberger in another thread somewhere. Not sure I would say he's already won big at Iowa State or that Iowa State is as hard of a place to win at as you suggested. Hasn't had a winning record in conference yet, and has won 2 tournament games it appears. Time at UNLV and SD St doesn't look all that impressive either. His 2022 turnaround was extremely impressive and he's kept it going (improving rank and conference record in 2023 and all 3 thus far in 2024). His predecessor had 3 years of equal/better results than he's had thus far so I don't consider IA St a tough place to win at IMO. Otzelberger Steve Prohm (predecessor)
  10. Kenpom's "Luck" rating proves this point for you. We are the 11th luckiest team (for those that don't know-meaning our actual record is better than our expected record based on AdjEM, AdjO, AdjD).
  11. Good thing he's not dating Taylor Swift...
  12. I hear that. Makes me think of the Rose Bowl used to be Big 10 vs. Pac 10. It may host a B1G championship game pitting a former Pac 10 team vs. a Big 10 team. Wild.
  13. Interested to hear people's thoughts on Shrewsberry. Doesn't have an impressive record but understandable that he took over teams without a great record the prior year. Heard he has great recruiting connections in the state but that's about all I've heard...
  14. I happened to be watching the game at this point. Actually called a double lane violation and had a jump ball at center court.
  15. Drew is 53 and May is 47. Make Drew say no at least 3x before you go anywhere else.
  16. It was only for the last 4 seasons and so far this season, so it wouldn't account for the 6 prior seasons for Bennett that you mentioned. Definitely not an end all be all. Based on team performance doesn't account for taking over a terrible program/team and improving them substantially in year 1, it would just look at year 1 performance vs. the rest of the teams. https://adamcwisports.blogspot.com/p/every-possession-counts.html
  17. https://barttorvik.com/trank.php?year=2020&sort=&hteam=&t2value=&conlimit=All&state=All&coachyes=1&begin=20191101&end=20240501&top=0&revquad=0&quad=5&venue=All&type=All&mingames=0# Coaches performance according to Bart Torvik over the past 4+ seasons...
  18. I hear that. Of course, if it ends in a win it didn't really matter, but not good for the heart/lifespan...
  19. Purely a guess but a legacy recruit to UGA would make sense
  20. If Davis doesn't work out don't think it would be too hard for UNC to pull Miller from Cincinnati
  21. Agree with you. Remember 2-3 months ago in this very thread how many people wanted Woody gone? Remember how grim people were about next year before Ware, MM, etc joined the team? Still some naysayers sadly will be a massive understatement the next time a few things don't go well.
  22. Didn't take a shot at Luke Brown either. I meant what I said, nothing more nothing less. I'll spell it out for you. I found it interesting that a different in state kid that wasn't recruited by the big boys ended up top 3 freshman scorer there. I liked the post where you brought it to the boards attention. It is even more interesting when a hs scoring legend is also a freshman there. As you pointed out, Luke had no chance given he sat out half the season, and only averaged 12mpg.
