We play Oregon Monday at 8:30pm. Then 6 days off before Illinois. Then 5 days off before Purdue. Northwestern 4 days after PU. Then a whole week off before hosting MSU. Then 3 days until hosting Minnesota. And 3 more days until we wrap up at Ohio State. I like the amount of time we will have to prep for Illinois, Purdue and MSU.

Freeman on Auburn is fun to watch. Auburn vs Bama pretty good game early on

The foot may have contributed to the foul being called, but with 2.8 seconds left, if it were called on us... we'd be screaming bloody murder and ripping our hair out blaming the ref. Wouldn't fault Wiscy fans for feeling that way. Straight up fugly 15 minutes of basketball from mid way through H2 to end of OT. But a win is a win is a win. Take care of business against Oregon and we're well on track.

UConn vs St John's is game of the night for me. Mullins vs Mitchell has been a very fun match up early - neither can guard the other

All IUFB Team - 21st Century
Home Jersey replied to Magnanimous's topic in Indiana Hoosiers Football
An honorable mention, kinda, or maybe just a personal favorite - LB Marcus Oliver. 2 time captain. IU's all time leader in forced fumbles (12). Unfortunately he skipped his last year of eligibility and didn't do anything in the NFL, but he was a fun player and good dude. -
This is totally fair and I think represents the rationale for updating the thread title to something more reflective of the actual conversations taking place in it. Anywho, I'm content to end the back and forth here and look forward to beating Wiscy tomorrow.

Perhaps we are talking past each other or there is some conflation at hand. So my apologies in advance if so. What I found to be haughty about your post and what prompted me to respond is the notion that IU fans should "represent our school better than that idiotic fan base represents theirs." While referencing the diploma hanging on your office wall for over 35 years... just reeks of feigned moral superiority to me. Do you dispute Kentucky fans also make a great environment in Rupp? Don't you think UK players said the same platitudes about having "the best" fans, just like IU players did? Is it not obvious that both have fans who go overboard on occasion? By your logic, UK fans must be better than IU fans considering they've had much better on court success than us for most of recent history, despite being equally if not more chaotic / hateful online. Nothing basketball related is what I took issue with in your post. It was the feigned moral superiority. Curious... do you happen to know the amount of traffic this site gets daily, weekly, monthly? What % of the total IU fanbase do you think actively spends time lurking (let alone posting) about every crumb of news like us psychos do? Folks react to what they see with their own eyes and the vast majority of IU fans will never see or spend meaningful time on BtownBanners. Reddit has a much larger platform / reach and IU fans there would be tarred and feathered here for being sunshine pumpers lol. Superlatives are for high school yearbooks and buzzfeed quizzes. People are gonna be people. No sense getting hung up on stuff you can't control. We're not back in the day anymore.

Sorry, we feel the same way about this thread, but this haughty idea that any fanbase is "better than" any other is a pet peeve of mine. People are individuals and just because you find the behavior of some anonymous internet posters to be distasteful, it does not diminish the fanbase as a whole or reflect poorly on IU, which many on this board are also proud alumni of. I could give a rat's behind what other fanbases think. And I promise you this tiny little corner of the internet is not meaningfully moving the needle on public perception of the fanbase. If things play out how they should, this thread will hopefully fade into irrelevancy soon anyway.

'Tis a free message board. Posters are allowed to make threads. Posters are allowed to think threads are stupid and say as much. Simple... Hopefully the team finishes strong and moving forward there's less reason for anybody to visit this thread in the first place.

I think DDV is coaching them just fine, for the most part. Pretty good actually. I agree with your view of the thread. I don't think it's needed and conversations easily could've been had in game threads. And probably would've been way more constructive / substantive. But it's a free message board so people can have at it as they wish. The "free flowing offense" can struggle a lot in the halfcourt and we aren't deep or athletic enough to run a ton. We don't have a top 16 roster but money is not a good excuse for that. We have more than enough money to field a top basketball team. To your point though, filling 13 spots is a lot different than filling 4-7 or however many it ends up being this time around. He was far more hampered by not getting his first choice assistants and not being fully staffed for the portal IIRC. New coach at a school that's sucked for 10 years, was always going to be a tough sell to top guys last cycle. That's why making the tournament this year is so important. You can sell them on established style, teammates and a chance to win on a huge stage.

Notre Dame can't afford to cancel any big games after their USC rivalry ended and ACC relations are strained. If anything we may need to drop them to get a more competitive OOC game on the schedule.

Lol true. They are on the schedule in 2030 and 2031 though
