We knew we were in for an emotional roller coaster with the possibility of a search... still not an actual opening. And very well may not be one this year. The vibes right now definitely suggest Pearl is using this as leverage to get what he wants from AU and that Dusty would be a hard sell over Woodson for a lot of key people who are in the mix. Maybe the last few games do matter quite a bit from that perspective, since this entire process is apparently very optics-driven. Woody may pull off a Mark Twain "The reports of my death (retirement/firing) have been great exaggerated." But, the vibes could change again plenty of times over the next few weeks. I'm going to try and mentally prepare for no change

If OSU hires May and Woody is our HC next year I will just have to find a new hobby I guess

Trilly seems to think that Bruce Pearl's son being named coach in waiting is "the most important thing" to BP. Reading between the lines a bit based on some of the exact wording from Trilly, it sounds to me like Dolson is currently working through the pushback everyone has been anticipating. He mentioned getting people to "flip" ... this character in his Discord, who claims to be "a bit of a laughing stock" on HSN - goes by "backalleyguru" - says Pearl to IU is a done deal. He seems to just be blowing smoke though as Trilly could not confirm/wouldn't endorse what he said. That person is claiming Whitten is on board and if Trilly thinks she is not, then Trilly would be "flat out wrong" ... Trilly has not specifically addressed Whitten. The rest of the chat has been debating the whole BOT/QB angle, etc. When he says that BP would be "in line" to be the guy, I wonder how firm that is... It certainly would suck for Dusty to go to a conference foe. I completely agree he's unlikely to jump when we come calling down the road. But for me its tough to pass up a relatively sure thing, even when the alternate may be a home run. In 5-7 years, the Shrews timeline may look better. So much can happen in that time, it's impossible to account for the possibilities. What is clear IMO, is that IU would be instantly competitive next year with Bruce Pearl as coach. And that either Pearl or May would be better than year 4 of this staff.

In "news" (using that word loosely) actually related to this thread... Trilly just chimed in. Nothing groundbreaking, but echoing what Chris said that Dolson is working on it. He also said that if the right people get on board, BP is "in line" to be the guy.

Let's just stop engaging with him in this thread. If not, this thread will be close to 500 pages soon on no actual news. Lol coming back for more after yesterday's display surely answers the "troll?" question

I don't think that's what he was referring to, if Trilly's discord is any indication of what rumors are allegedly out there. Nothing from Trilly himself to be clear.

Lol A fun excerpt of someone telling their Tom Pritchard story: "Days after his last season ended, saw TP at Roy's. The consistency in his rate of scoring since day 1 is mindblowing. Came in great, still playing great.

Geronimo basically has been the same player in twice as many minutes. 23 mins this year vs 12 per game last year. He's averaging 5.6 now compared to 4.2. 4.1 rebounds compared to 2.4. All his other metrics fluctuated only by about .3 Bates on the other hand sort of looks, on paper at least, like the sort of player this year's roster was missing: That's good scoring on pretty good efficiency. Assist to TO ratio is ugly though.

My high school graduating class was only about 80 people. The art teacher's name was Mrs. Preston. She only ever went to soccer games though. Never did see her husband around, though...

Taking an OV to Georgia Tech this weekend.

I went to three IU games this year and go figure the best CBB I'll have gone to all year will be tonight Princeton vs Cornell for a share of the Ivy League championship. Lol. Such sad times.

I don't feel particularly strongly one way or another on this. Would I personally do it? No way. Is it a sign of how bad things are? Yes absolutely. As btownqb said, you're liable to get hit if talking like that to the wrong person. They won't feel so big doing the same thing to a younger person who doesn't have his wife next to him and a million eyes on them. Honestly the worst part of this whole alleged interaction is it happening in front of his wife. That is classless IMO, yes, to try and dress him down in front of his family/others. Do I think it has any looming impact or say something meaningful about our fan base? Not really. Just that we're crazy. But I think everyone knew that already.

Maybe a hot take but I think the majority of undergrads don't follow the team off the court as closely/feel less passionately about things like coaching changes than the rest of the fan base. Damn I miss Assembly Hall!!!

I will be the skeptic/devil's advocate on this, not to be a wet blanket... Curious to me how Trilly could know what was said at Dolson's meeting... and how meaningful is their input? We've seen some notable alumni say they're ready to move on during podcasts and what not, so without seeing what Trilly actually said, how much of a leap is it for him to make a logical assumption that this was voiced? I'm assuming this was a regularly scheduled meeting, as was the one with Woodson... I'm trying not to get too hopeful but the wind certainly seems to be blowing in the right direction
