  1. The risk of keeping Mike Woodson past this season is far greater than the risk of moving on... IMHO
  2. Reality... as you see it... Everyone has their own view of things. There is not an objective "reality" or correct/incorrect when it comes to assessing this sort of thing as a fan. All one can really do is use the whole picture, as they see it, to make up their minds. Anyhow we don't need to get into it I'm sure you've got a long list of people to reply to lol
  3. I think it moves a little with a S16 and massively with an E8 or better.
  4. I don't think anyone disputes that guys on a team play hard for their captain/team leaders and miss them when they're out. So Cupps isn't looked at the same way as X and that's why the team didn't play well or didn't play hard? There's no excuse for not playing hard. Not playing well... sure that's a valid argument, Cupps was asked to do too much as a freshman. Whose fault is that? So with X back, we may be a bubble team or sneak in as a low seed at best? That's "IUBB at it's best"? Beating a p00py Wiscy team late in the year is too little too late, it doesn't necessarily speak to the team rallying around a leader or a coach. Is it so hard to believe a basketball team just wanted to win in front of the home crowd and pulled it out (with a little help from a bizarre alarm stemming a run and less foul trouble than usual)? Everyone at this point has made their mind up, that much is clear..... it doesn't mean anyone lacks understanding of team dynamics. It just means someone is convinced they're right and clinging to any rationale, despite what we see every game day and an 8 game losing streak. Sure a million things could've happened differently, but they happened the way they did. And recruiting is abysmal. We can agree to disagree on what's best for the program... but acting like others who interpret things differently than you, MUST be forming their opinion with no factual basis/deep understanding, is why you get the reactions you do.
  5. If the administration lets him skate on that excuse, that will seriously be a breaking point for me in my level of investment in IUBB.
  6. True. I'll be honest I'm at a point of finding myself preferring that they'd lose. Sort of like when you bet against your favorite team and you're either happy coz you win the bet or your team wins... I am "happy" with either outcome but I'd prefer that we lose so we can rip this band aid off. Since I'm a fan my opinion doesn't really matter/influence things. I still have hope that can happen, but 1 more win and probably not. I will probably be more upset if they win again and it crystalizes for me that we're really doing this again.
  7. Good thing "IU - Kaulie" (and none of us here, presumably) actually work in the administration. It's perfectly okay for fans to want their team to win. I am happy to see a win tonight like I am happy to see a 3-legged dog running. I wouldn't have been upset about a loss for the same reason you were rooting for it. People can be fans however they want.
  8. Why we haven't run more Gallo/Ware action like we did JHS/TJD last year, I don't know...
  9. That's why they play the game though.
  10. We wasted what could have been an absolutely special year with him. Tragic, really.
  11. Not gonna lie I don't feel good about this win like I normally would.
  12. He can definitely still save his job but... those other factors are so overwhelming... I think he needs one more win to really make a "convincing" pitch that he deserves a fourth year (why these useless games seem to matter is an entirely other problem....) Bottom line... I still have hope, because I have confidence in this team to do what they've done all year the rest of the way. Lol
  13. I have faith in our ability to lose the remaining games on our schedule lol. We were due for one after that 8 (?) game skid. Sucks being conflicted after a victory. But here we are...
  14. That was a really fun game to watch! Always nice to see an IU victory... just wish it meant something. Really hope this does not stop what needs to happen from being done. On another note... Hummel's commentary is borderline unprofessional IMO. Takes every opportunity to crap on IU. Can't listen to him anymore.
  15. That person is in for a world of pain very soon lol
  16. Somebody set off the alarms because Hummel was being dangerously obnoxious on the broadcast.
  17. Gotta say... haven't seen this before. Hopefully everyone stays safe!
  18. Peacock doing Woody no favors showing that one particular clip from his media availability this week... lol
  19. Yes for the record, I would never want that sort of trouble associated with the IU program. Even with that said, I don't think it's enough to brand Roy Williams a bad person. Misguided actions/mistakes, etc. happen, everyone makes them, especially with competitors. There's a spectrum of what you can or can't tolerate. For me, it's pretty simple... the minimum requirement being a HC that has no violent past/active substance abuse issues himself, etc. Then, first priority is ability to coach winning basketball. Second is about holding guys accountable and building a successful culture that can be sustained after him. Third and finally, graduating non-pro players while putting your best players into the NBA
  20. Amen - I just think "clean" is also somewhat subjective/exists on a spectrum. I don't think anyone could point to something about Auburn today and the way he runs things there, and say it's dirty or out of line. Everyone will have a different profile for what they can tolerate. I'd be happy as a pig in mud with either Pearl or May. I do feel like Pearl is a bit of a long shot, even though I'd prefer him... age/optics wise with Woody, I think May is more palatable/potentially higher upside option. Some are hesitant after Archie. I appreciate that May is his own coach and his story at FAU is a lot different than CAM's at Dayton... I just feel the program needs to finally put a competitive stretch together again to solidify a foundation for the next guy to come in and build on. I am confident Pearl could get us there and more. May has a good track record too, but it's less of a known quantity. I'm ready to move on!
  21. I don't mean to be confrontational but it rubs me the wrong way that you keep making reference to BP not being a "good man" Chris Facial Hair we can all, for the most part, agree is a "bad" man. I certainly think he is and would not want him here. Bruce Pearl's "trouble" is from ages ago with a now impotent NCAA. The one semi "serious" issue connected to Pearl (bribery charges) were not even tied to him directly (an assistant was charged). Not only was that essentially industry standard way of operating... but there is no longer a need for that sort of stuff with NIL. You could reasonably argue his program is cleaner in today's context than Roy Williams' ever was - those kids weren't taking actual classes. They were made up and entirely on paper! And guess what... I don't think Roy Williams is a "bad" man either. The point is there is no such thing as a "clean" program. That doesn't mean the people working in them are inherently "bad" So is Bruce Pearl a bad guy for helping kids get paid, having BBQs, or recruiting when he shouldn't have been? I don't think necessarily. You can say it makes you doubt his ability to run a clean program... fine, but as has been said, it's basically all legal now. To assert others are okay with a "bad guy" like Bruce Pearl being HC because he broke some obscure rules is sanctimonious at best. No coach is perfect. No man is perfect. Yes there are degrees to all of this and everyone is entitled to their own opinion. If someone draws their line at a coach like Bruce Pearl, after our past 20+ years, okay.. I'll keep rooting for us to catch lightning in a bottle like Knight again
  22. While an assistant at Iowa, he recorded a recruit (being recruited by Illinois) where he basically admitted that he had received impermissible benefits (a truck I believe). The incident resulted in Illinois basically getting a slap on the wrist (I think 1 year post season ban) and Pearl basically painted a huge target on his back for fellow coaches because he essentially "snitched" is my understanding. So it's no surprise he'd get dinged years later for something silly as a BBQ. People have long memories
  23. Bruce Pearl is the kind of guy who could make IUBB Head Coach his identity, not just his job... which I recall a few people saying is basically what this job requires to be successful. I'm sure other guys could embrace that too. But we know CBP wanted/s(?) that opportunity. He would relish it. Give us 6-8 years of that and watch how different of a place this program is in when he hangs it up.
  24. Most of the stuff that makes Bruce Pearl seem sleazy is old news driven by outdated NCAA policies/infractions. It sounds like the people who've known Bruce personally believe he's a man of good character. Players like playing for him. He stays in touch with his guys. He's called this place his "dream job". And as you said... he wins. That's good enough for me.
