Don’t know. But the Pacers never should have spent money on him. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Yea they really made huge jumps. You could really see how it helped them. Maybe that’s where the attitude problems came from too. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Because it is apparently useless because it didn’t help either of them. Just because you can, doesn’t always mean you should. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

That should happen any given year. And coaches should try and help and be part of that process. Durham “tested the waters” last season. But so did Smith. Both got betterish at a marginal rate. Both are just who they are. Smith is frustrating as hell because has the physical tools to be almost dominate and Durham is just not good with a ball in his hands unless he’s shooting. I’d really like to see Durham watch some Kendrick Nunn tape. That’s the guy he needs to be for us and next season he needs to be taking 6 3’s a game, which would double this season. Smith... I feel bad for him really. The offense ran this past season really just took so much away from him. Can’t slash and back cut when there is always a dude on the block and in the way. Maybe that will change this coming season though. I know what my hopes are and I’m sure they are close to others. But both players have crazy jumps to make to become NBA players. Both would last in the G-League and overseas. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

At times One has to face reality. You have about a 1 in 11,000 chance of becoming pro in basketball. It’s incredibly difficult. Not everyone will go pro. Not everyone needs to go get feedback. These guys have the resources to know whether they are on an NBA Radar. Only guy we have is TJD. Maybe Smith because of his athletic ability but even he’s a long shot to ever make a roster. But Durham? Just isn’t there. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

You can roll your eyes, but Durham is ready for overseas now. He was after his Sophomore year. He could even do the G-League. But he’s not an NBA player. There have been hundreds of players just like him and better who haven’t made it. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

What’s he got to learn for overseas? He’s ready for that already. The NBA? Nah. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Archie and Progress

If Archie changes the offense, success would be way easier to come by. But his offense(unless you’re Iowa) is incredibly easy to defend. Especially since he just sits two dudes on the block with no driving lanes. You can’t even get drive and kicks for 3’s. It’s drive to the free throw line, pass and try again. Defenders on the wing don’t even have to go off their man too far because the ball handler isn’t too far away from the guy on the wing. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Odd right? And 30 seconds is a long time. But our offense is so slow with no movement. It’s boring and ineffective. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Early BIG Projections (2020-21)

There’s a reason I said they had the biggest turnaround. Edit: I think you could say Rutgers was the biggest surprise. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

I don’t think there is such a thing as a well oiled Archie offense. Our offensive outburst against good teams have been outliers. Marquette last year, Florida State, Iowa this season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -
Early BIG Projections (2020-21)
Loaded Chicken Sandwich replied to IUc2016's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
That’s part of the turnaround. Is being expected to be that good. Illinois sucked last year just like Rutgers did. Last year Rutgers was 14-17(7-13) and Illinois was 12-21(7-13). This year Rutgers finished 20-11(11-9) and spent 2 weeks in the Top 25 getting up to 24th. Illinois went 21-10(13-7), finished alone at 4th in the Big Ten and spent 8 weeks in the Top 25 getting up to 19th. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Illinois definitely had the best turnaround of any team. You could argue Rutgers, but I think Illinois was better on a national level. I could see Rutgers falling back now that they aren’t they are part of the prey. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Archie and Progress
Loaded Chicken Sandwich replied to Old Friend's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Probably should have been more specific. I don’t think we should have more than 10 losses at the end of the regular season. That will solidly put us in the Top 25 for most of the season. I listed those things about playing good basketball because those are things that haven’t ever happened under Archie. It’s a lot of standing around, dribbling and crappy pick n rolls. If he can’t evolve at that young if an age, he won’t make it. He needs a great season. Not just a chunk here or there. He needs to show that the whole thing can be put together. TJD should get feedback. Smiths feedback will be the same but has the athleticism that will tease someone somewhere. Durham has no reason to think about it. All kids have aspirations of the NBA. But it’s the hardest sport to go pro in and Durham isn’t an NBA talent. He just needs to focus on next season. Sent from my iPhone using BtownBanners mobile app -

Archie and Progress
Loaded Chicken Sandwich replied to Old Friend's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I remember Chris007 bringing up something about two players acting out during practices. Old Friend like to blame Green and Davis, but those stories weren’t about Green and Davis being disruptive. They were about other players. Certain Juniors who are good friends. They are still here. Could have the same problems. Smith is going to start. Durham is going to start. Archie doesn’t have it in him to make big changes. Brunk will probably even start again for whatever reason. But Smith and Durham need to step up. Smith was our second best player last season so that should say where everyone else was at. But those two seniors are going to need to step up or to just be another year of minimal success. Archie and Progress

Sadly he will fail by being so stubborn with a system that isn’t good. It was great at a mid major level even. For Archie to succeed and reach the level we want him to, he will need to change. He will hold back the program more than anyone. If Lander comes and struggles to get driving lanes because of Archie’s loaded paint offense, you can kiss recruiting of Lander types goodbye. Next year is huge for Archie. Archie MUST do 4 things and has to do all 4. 1. Lose 10 or less games. 2. Play good basketball. Defense, offense, hustle, crisp paying, ball movement, player movement, shooting etc. 3. Be in the Top 25 and the Top 20. People may roll their eyes and say the AP poll is stupid and means nothing to them, but it’s important for the programs image and perception. 4. Finish AT LEAST 2 games above .500 in conference (and that’s a low bar to set). Really he needs to be finishing in the Top 5-6 in the B1G. It’s time to put up or shut up. No more moral victories.
