Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
ray replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Juwan Morgan scored 12 points and added 7 rebounds. His career total of 1,310 points is just 8 points shy of Jordan Hulls at #28. His career total of 738 rebounds is just 12 rebounds shy of Brian Evans at #10. -
Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
ray replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Yeah, they apparently believe there are (at least) 15 better players. Wow, what a punch in the jaw. Like I said, I hope this fuels him and he has an absolutely freakish performance throughout the BTT. And this isn’t even a Hoosier bias on my part, as I would have placed Romeo below Juwan on these lists. Juwan Morgan’s statistics (Big Ten Leaders) 9th in points per game at 15.1 6th in field goal % at .553 5th in rebounds per game at 8.4 14th in steals per game at 1.16 7th in blocks per game at 1.55 (-30) in assists per game at 2.0 FIRST TEAM Cassius Winston (4) PPG, (21) FG%, (-30) RPG, (20) SPG, (-30) BPG, (1) APG Carsen Edwards (1) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (3) SPG, (-30) BPG, (12) APG Ethan Happ (5) PPG, (10) FG%, (3) RPG, (15) SPG, (12) BPG, (3) APG Bruno Fernando (17) PPG, (1) FG%, (2) RPG, (-30) SPG, (3) BPG, (-30) APG Lamar Stevens (2) PPG, (-30) FG%, (7) RPG, (-30) SPG, (22) BPG, (-30) APG SECOND TEAM Romeo Langford (6) PPG, (27) FG%, (21) RPG, (-30) SPG, (21) BPG, (-30) APG Ignas Brazdeikis (11) PPG, (22) FG%, (23) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (-30) APG Anthony Cowan (8) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (4) APG Jordan Murphy (15) PPG, (18) FG%, (1) RPG, (-30) SPG, (19) BPG, (23) APG Zavier Simpson (-30) PPG, (-30) FG%, (26) RPG, (4) SPG, (-30) BPG, (2) APG THIRD TEAM Jordan Bohannon (-30) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (6) APG Amir Coffey (7) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (8) APG Tyler Cook (11) PPG, (9) FG%, (6) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (28) APG James Palmer (3) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (6) SPG, (-30) BPG, (10) APG Nick Ward (9) PPG, (4) FG%, (14) RPG, (-30) SPG, (9) BPG, (-30) APG Jordan Bohannon? Really? He had 1.4 more assists per game than Juwan. Outside of that...? -
I like our chances so much more now that I learned the Big Ten coaches believe there are 15 players better than Juwan Morgan in the conference. BEAST MODE, Juwan...BEAST MODE. Take them all down in the BTT. Juwan Morgan’s statistics (Big Ten Leaders) 9th in points per game at 15.1 6th in field goal % at .553 5th in rebounds per game at 8.4 14th in steals per game at 1.16 7th in blocks per game at 1.55 (-30) in assists per game at 2.0 FIRST TEAM Cassius Winston (4) PPG, (21) FG%, (-30) RPG, (20) SPG, (-30) BPG, (1) APG Carsen Edwards (1) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (3) SPG, (-30) BPG, (12) APG Ethan Happ (5) PPG, (10) FG%, (3) RPG, (15) SPG, (12) BPG, (3) APG Bruno Fernando (17) PPG, (1) FG%, (2) RPG, (-30) SPG, (3) BPG, (-30) APG Lamar Stevens (2) PPG, (-30) FG%, (7) RPG, (-30) SPG, (22) BPG, (-30) APG SECOND TEAM Romeo Langford (6) PPG, (27) FG%, (21) RPG, (-30) SPG, (21) BPG, (-30) APG Ignas Brazdeikis (11) PPG, (22) FG%, (23) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (-30) APG Anthony Cowan (8) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (4) APG Jordan Murphy (15) PPG, (18) FG%, (1) RPG, (-30) SPG, (19) BPG, (23) APG Zavier Simpson (-30) PPG, (-30) FG%, (26) RPG, (4) SPG, (-30) BPG, (2) APG THIRD TEAM Jordan Bohannon (-30) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (6) APG Amir Coffey (7) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (8) APG Tyler Cook (11) PPG, (9) FG%, (6) RPG, (-30) SPG, (-30) BPG, (28) APG James Palmer (3) PPG, (-30) FG%, (-30) RPG, (6) SPG, (-30) BPG, (10) APG Nick Ward (9) PPG, (4) FG%, (14) RPG, (-30) SPG, (9) BPG, (-30) APG I will say it again on this thread...Jordan Bohannon? Really? He had 1.4 more assists per game than Juwan. Outside of that...? Compare Langford's stats to those of Brazdeikis (who won Freshman of the Year). And merely from a stat line one might question whether Happ deserved BTPOY over Winston. But, all I'm arguing is that the coaches felt there are 15 better all-around players than Morgan.

Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
ray replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Wow, according to the coaches of the Big Ten there are 15 players in the conference who are better than Juwan Morgan? Unbelievable the lack of respect he’s been given. I want to see him in ABSOLUTE BEAST MODE in the BTT and prove the coaches have been asleep all season. -
I’m in complete agreement with everything you said. I know losing and playing the blame game can disrupt team chemistry in a major way. No question winning helps bring players together. I also agree that IU is a scary matchup for opposing teams, just like I think Ohio State will be scary for Indiana (slowly slipping off the NCAA committee’s radar enough to make it desperation time for them as well). I still wonder, though, is this unit (if those members who have been under question remain) capable of performing as a cohesive whole next year? I hope so (as I’m encouraged by the turnaround) but at the same time I know issues of self-entitlement aren’t typically easy to dispel. I’m pleased by the individual performances (improved effort and lack of selfishness) and the team playing together as a whole over the past couple weeks. If that carries over, then I like our chances next year. If not, and the same “cancers” return, then we could find ourselves back to square one. Obviously no one knows the answers to my questioning concerns. I was merely commenting and vaguely implying the question, “Is having a Justin Smith back next year a wise decision?” When he plays within himself and for the team (most importantly, maintains a good attitude) then he’s very desirable on the roster. If not...
-
Speaking of team chemistry, can Indiana bottle this sh*t up and save it for next year? If so, then I’ll gladly welcome back all parties. My concern is still the fact certain players were “seemingly” disappointed by playing time and attention. With the addition of some good recruits, how likely can this team stay glued an entire future season as they’ve seemed to be glued in the most recent couple weeks? That’s a major concern of mine going forward, but I love how excited they seem to be playing with one another right now. Credit to the staff and possibly player leadership. I mean, Smith and Romeo were even offering high fives on the court today. My, how things have seemingly been turned around on this chemistry front. And, yes, I used seemingly many times...purposefully.

I have no clue who this is, but I’ll be drunken by the cool-aid which he has to offer.

I actually admire UM basketball ever since Beilein took over. MSU? Well, that’s an entirely different apple. MSU and UNC are among my most hated collegiate athletic programs. Both are purely disgusting to me in their own ways. Others could be added to this list, but they stand out as among the worst...a disgrace to collegiate sports. Sampson was an idiot for making calls knowing better, but UNC and MSU have suffered no consequences for alarmingly more serious charges. I hate them both, ‘til death do I part.

Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
ray replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
The zebras limited Juwan Morgan's minutes today on Senior Day, but he finished with 25 points and 7 rebounds. Juwan is now one point shy of moving into 29th (Tom Bolyard) and only 20 points shy of 28th (Jordan Hulls) on Indiana's all-time scoring list. He now has 1,298 career points. He also recorded 7 rebounds, bringing his career total to 731 (13th). This keeps him only 19 rebounds shy of breaking into Indiana's top ten all-time rebounding leaders. He is also currently 9th all-time in career blocks. -

Playing so unselfish and the entire team looks happy with one another. That unity has been huge in the past couple weeks. -

I began typing about an hour ago...."I want to see Morgan score 30 and grab 15 boards"....and then I erased it, not wanting too high of expectations. Maybe I should have hit submit? -

I turned BTN on a little early and had to watch the tail end of the UM vs MSU contest in the 60-min version. At this point in my life I want to see Izzo fail miserably in all that he does, and I want the university to be given the hammer for their inability or unwillingness to take care of the ridiculousness that is MSU sports. However, I assume this helps Indiana's resume a little by remaining the only team to beat MSU in East Lansing. Even then, I'm not sure it was worth watching Izzo win another championship. Go Hoosiers! Kick the snot out of the Scarlet Knights...legitimate beat down. -

I guess I shouldn't make wise cracks about threats of terrorism either. I just thought the title seemed a bit much if it was nothing more than a stupid comment. A verbal threat is still a threat, but it's a far cry from a months-long email correspondence with a terrorist organization. It's probably a simple case of a reporter doing his or her job of creating the best headline to grab attention. Anyway... YouTube TV has the start time of the game tomorrow scheduled for 11, but every place else says noon. I'm guessing that's due to the spring forward business which happens tonight. There's no mention of which time zone YouTube is using. I hope my recording doesn't shut off an hour earlier because of this. -

Wow, terrorist threats??? That sort of makes the thought of a drunken player running over a teammate seem less serious. -
Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
ray replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Juwan Morgan scored 20 points against Illinois, bringing his career total to 1,273 points and moves him into #30 on Indiana's all-time scoring list. He passed James Blackmon Jr, Steve Green, and Joby Wright. He also tallied 9 boards, bringing his career total to 724. This leaves him only 26 rebounds shy of breaking into Indiana's top ten all-time career rebounding leaders. -
(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
ray replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I can't be convinced Romeo would publicly admit his heart isn't with the team. His heart may very well not be (I hope it is, for the sake of what's left of the season), as he has aspirations and plans to play for millions elsewhere, but he has never struck me as a kid dumb enough (especially at this point in his career) to make himself look like a selfish whiner on a public platform for all eyes to read. That would be a very poor professional move. Garbage. -
(2019) SF Keion Brooks Jr. to Kentucky

I know you didn't imply that, and I know there was no rude intent. I was merely admitting you're right and that I'm guilty. No worries! -

Yes, I'm guilty. You're absolutely right. Although, much of this thread (and threads for other recruits) are spent speculating. I'll wait it out quietly from here on out. -

And not choosing a place because of the hopes of AF or TJD to play alongside him. That was my first guess too. We shall see. I’ve had a whole lot of guesses in my life, and some have turned out to be correct while others haven’t. Life’s full of mysteries and surprises. In fairness, it could simply mean it’s time to focus on himself and the decision ahead of him. And, yet again, “it’s time to be selfish” could also mean its time to focus exclusively on what he wants and not try to satisfy mom and pops. Who knows? I certainly don’t. I’m really happy to have TJD and Franklin coming next year. I hope Race and Hunter can have a healthy season next year, and I hope Deron stays another year as well. Add Keion and I’m fully stoked. EDIT: I really should read through to the end of threads before replying to a comment and then realizing after it’s too late that all my thoughts have already been stated. And furthermore, all my comments were made under the assumption that Jr made the tweet and not Sr. I’m with my brother, just name your kid a different name than your own...because it confuses the living s—t out of people. -
Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
ray replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
9 rebounds a game in the guarantee games puts him one rebound ahead of Brian Evans and places him tenth all-time. With one additional post season game he would need 7 per game to tie Brian Evans. Either way, I think it’s certainly possible considering he’s averaging 8.3 for the season. I would love to see him break into the top ten. That would be quite an accomplishment. -
Juwan Morgan's climb up the all-time scoring record list
ray replied to ray's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
Juwan Morgan scored only 7 points, but snagged 11 rebounds in Indiana's upset win over Michigan State. This leaves Juwan at 1,253 career points and moves him in front of Tom Van Arsdale for 33rd on Indiana basketball's all-time scoring list. He is 4 points shy of moving into 32nd with James Blackmon, Jr and only 19 points shy of breaking into the top 30. The 11 boards tonight brings his career rebounding total to 715, which is just 35 rebounds shy of entering Indiana's top ten all-time career leaders in rebounds. With 35 more rebounds on the season, he would tie Brian Evans for the 10th best career mark with 750 rebounds. -

Wow! Well done! Sucks to think of how much this win, the win in East Lansing, and the win against Wisconsin would change things dramatically if the close losses to Purdue, Iowa, and Ohio State late in the season would have been pulled off. Oh well, just keep winning...it’s their only hope at this point.
