  1. I would be happy with Henson. He did very well his first two season as the OC at Missouri. Not sure what happened in 2015 though. They were awful offensively that year. He's known for his recruiting prowess as well.
  2. If you let your man go by and thus get taken on by another defender you HAVE to locate his man as soon as possible and defend, and/or box out. Morgan and Green are the absolute worst at doing this. They'll let their guy drive into the help side defense and just stand there expecting the missed shot to come to them. Meanwhile the help-side defender (usually Smith) goes up for the block and no one is there to get a rebound. The pack-line defense is not designed to give up rebounds and uncontested put backs...that is a product of not executing the pack-line properly.
  3. This loss is on Archie. He needs to get his sh*t together and stop getting out coached night in and night out. If the problem is the players not being coachable or buying into his system then sit them until they do. But my guess is he needs to toss his “system” and start over. The half court sets are as bad as I’ve ever seen at this level. Nothing he designs creates open shots which leads to one on one play with everyone else being out of position. On defense we’re helping far too much and getting out of position to box out the off man and get rebounds.
  4. Agreed, but no one knows exactly what this all means. All the article says is that Canada wanted a larger say/role in the decision making for his offensive staff and Allen wouldn't agree to it. To assume he wanted to "clean house" is doing so blind with no insight to the situation. No one with Matt Canada's resume is going to take a job where the HC says you don't have the authority to hire and fire your assistants. That's setting yourself up for failure and a very frustrating tenure knowing your assistants don't answer to you, they answer only to Allen. At the end of the day all this means is we're going to get an unproven "Yes" man OC with an underwhelming resume. Allen is and has always been in over his head, I don't know why anyone would expect different now.
  5. I think he'd take the NI job if offered. That would be a great opportunity for him. Hopefully the prospect of coming home and building his alma mater means enough to him to get him here but USC and Georgia would be tough to pass up. As much complaining as I've read about getting Canada back as our OC as I've seen, I haven't heard of one better candidate available so it'll be interesting how this shakes out. If Allen hires him as AHC/OC and pays him $1.5M a year that might be enough to get him here and keep him.
  6. I don't know what point you're trying to make but I'll reiterate that I'd be excited to have him come to IU. That being said I'm still tempering my expectations. That doesn't mean I'm writing him off, rather the exact opposite..hence the excitement. Just because I brought up another instance when a transfer didn't work out doesn't mean I'm saying this will be more of the same.
  7. I think he's a product of bad luck, being coupled with bad HCs or in Durkin's case, a very good HC who was a head case. His offenses have done very well over the the years. He's an IU guy, which isn't required in my opinion but it's nice to have. I don't see anyone out there that we can actually get who would be better. Allen said he wants a guy who's called plays at the D1 level. Kingsbury is off the board and we're not getting Applewhite either who will make more money than Allen next season wherever he lands. Unless we go shopping for OCs from the MAC I don't know who else we can even get that would be a better hire than Canada.
  8. He also basically sat out this year anyway only appearing in two games so it's unlikely they'll make him burn a full year of eligibility on top of his red shirt season this year. I'd be excited if he came to IU but I still want to temper my expectations....least we forget about the last former Florida WR commit we picked up via transfer in Marqui Hawkins. He wasn't a 4 star technically but was damn close with better offers than Green had coming out of high school; however, he didn't amount to anything while at IU.
  9. If you listen to the guys over at HSN, he should be on scholarship and is a first team all defensive team in conference. But no, he never has. Thought he was better than he’s shown this season though
  10. Lol. McBob. What happened to his game?
  11. Smith’s effort is a god damn joke
  12. He's already on the staff. Why would promoting a guy who's already doing your recruiting for you help get new/better recruits? Bringing in a guy who has national credibility and recruiting ties increases the pipeline and adds another body who would have bandwidth to hit the road and get in front of kids we may not otherwise have the ability to recruit. It's not like Womack was getting job offers from other programs. Being one of the most thought of coaches on this staff??? I'm sure there's an ESPY for that.
  13. Not a good move in my opinion. Allen seems to be quite a control freak and doesn't surround himself with anyone outside his inner circle who would have fresh ideas. He only wants guys he's worked with in the past. This doesn't help with recruiting, this doesn't bring talent to the coaching room. It's a status quo shell game and a huge gamble.
  14. Ahhh right on cue, Moore makes back to bavk errors
  15. Not sure what’s taking so long. Those guys come in and usually play well. Give em some minutes
  16. I'm on board with this line of thinking. I'll take the wait and see approach with Tuttle. We had a very talented QB transfer here last year only to have him not win the starting job and quit. My concern is that Tuttle couldn't beat out Jason Shelley who's also a freshmen for the QB2 spot and who also happens to be 5'11 and not very good but my optimistic theory on this is that they wanted to redshirt Tuttle because they currently utilize mostly RPOs and when Huntley graduates they would hand to ball over to Tuttle and change up their schemes....who knows...Hopefully this kid comes in with the right attitude and wins the starting role but if not stays engaged and committed to the team to wait his turn.
  17. Correct. Since he essentially sat out this season he can qualify for a waiver. I'm not sure how often those get rejected. I'm curious to know what Pennix thinks about all this. I have to imagine Tuttle is very talented but lets not forget he was QB3 at Utah when I'm sure the plan was to compete for the starting job.
  18. It’s official. DeRon Davis, who’s listed at 6’10, can’t dunk
  19. If you think for one second that this team will be better next year sans Morgan, Romeo and Fitzner than the rest of this team plus TJD, Brooks (assuming we can even get them) and Franklin you’re crazy
  20. The lack of basketball IQ on this team is staggering
  21. Phin can’t pick up that foul especially with how awful Durham has been handling the ball against this pressure. Gonna be a nerve wracking rest of the game if Al can’t take care of the ball better.
  22. Not so fun fact. IU has only won the 3rd quarter once all season which was against Maryland. The coaching staff needs to figure out a different halftime pep talk and second half strategy. I’m tired of seeing this team come out of halftime flat
  23. Stepaniak single handedly blowing this drive
  24. Need to step on the gas now. Throw the ball down the field. Stevie up the middle can be shelved for this drive.
