IUFB Recruiting and Transfer Portal Updates
Bigred3588 replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I’ve been wondering if Cig will target this kid. He put up massive numbers at North Texas but I don’t know much about him other than that. I trust the coaching staff to make the right choice but man, I really want to see Alberto and Khobie running the RPO. -
Notre Dame didn’t play Wisconsin (Bama did). But let’s say the early season games are given the same weight as late season games, despite the fact that the committee has historically shown that isn’t the case. ND lost its first game to Miami by 3 and its second game to A&M by 1. Bama lost its first game by 14 to a team that finished 13th in a conference that was won by Duke. Their second loss was respectable. Missouri, Tennessee, and LSU were all a game or two over .500, they looked like @$$ against SC and needed to be bailed out by the officials, and they looked mediocre at best against Auburn. Then they showed up to the conference championship and looked like the team we thought they were after the FSU game. As far as the “teams playing their best at the end” argument being flawed, I’ll simply have to disagree. Do you think the IU team that played ODU in week 1 would’ve beaten OSU? I don’t. Some teams improve throughout the season, some stay the same, and some regress. The ones that improve are typically the ones that win the bowl games.

Annnnd we’re back to ignoring the conference championship game. I don’t care what they did in week 3. They got absolutely dog walked by the same team in week 13. And they looked like garbage against SC, Auburn, and LSU in the games leading up to that. Hell, if it weren’t for the officials in the SC game, they’d be a 4 loss team. ND, on the other hand, appeared to be peaking. Their two losses were for a combined 4 points against two CFP teams. Like I said before, I wouldn’t hesitate to put my $ on ND if those two teams played Saturday. Matter of fact, I’d probably take them by 14. And I don’t even like ND.

Alabama hasn’t looked particularly good the last few games and just got steamrolled in the conference championship game. ND has been rolling. I know they say the conference champ games aren’t a factor, but that’s obviously BS because OSU would still be the 1 seed if it were true. I 100% believe ND is being punished for not playing in a conference champ game and I’d put a good deal of money on ND to beat Bama if they played each other on Saturday.

I don’t take anything as a given with the way the committee determines the rankings. Just look at the situation with ND. I dislike ND to the point where I used to rip down ND flags when I’d see them hanging on houses around the IUB campus. That being said, there’s absolutely no justification for Bama getting in over them. The fact is that the first couple of spots are generally clear cut. Everything after that is at the committees discretion. Oregon didn’t make the conference championship, so there’s no reason to believe they couldn’t have dropped. The Bama decision proved the committee is going to do what they want when it comes to the “tier 2” teams. You’re welcome to disagree, but the only reason IU has the 1 seed is because there’s no argument against it. They’re the only undefeated team. I don’t believe for a second that we would’ve retained the 2 seed if we’d lost to OSU. At the very least, Georgia would’ve jumped us and probably A&M as well. College football is big money, and we aren’t a brand in that arena. Last year is proof of that. They didn’t want us in the playoff after OSU and they used the ND loss to further their argument. We were written off as the team who shouldn’t have been there and they said “who’s this year’s Indiana?” They didn’t want us to win then and they don’t want us to win now. What’s the best way to do that with the teams chosen for the top 12? Put us in a situation where we’d potentially play two opponents who’ve been studying our film all year.

My hope for a natty tanked when I saw the bracket. I’ve always felt it’s very difficult to beat the same team twice in a season, especially with college football. There’s a very real chance we’d have to do it twice in back-to-back games. What really irritates me is that I don’t think it’s an accident. After what I’ve seen the past two years, I’m convinced the powers that be do NOT want to see IU win it all.

(2026) S D'Montae Tims to Indiana
Bigred3588 replied to Pagoda's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
I just watched his tape and I’d say he is seriously underrated by the recruiting services. He looks like a fast and decisive ball hawk that can be used multiple ways, tackles well, and doesn’t give up on plays. I feel like we’re getting D’Angelo Ponds at safety with this kid. -
Interesting factoid: Combined record of Oregon’s opponents is 11-16. Combined record of IUs is 17-10. Oregon has three wins against teams over .500: Montana St. (4-2), Northwestern (3-2), and Penn State (3-2). Of the 10 games those teams have won, 2 were from power conferences. NW beat UCLA and PSU beat Villanova. IU has 4 wins against teams over .500: ODU (4-1), Kennesaw St. (3-2), Illinois (5-1), and Iowa (3-2). Of the 15 games those teams have won, 5 were from power conferences. ODU beat Va. Tech, UI beat PU/Duke/USC, and Iowa beat Rutgers. Oregon has the star power on their roster but I think there’s a possibility IU may shock some people this weekend.

Guys…Bill Self did this while under investigation and didn’t get touched… Id love to be wrong but I wrote this one off when I heard it was down to us and Kansas. These kids are looking to get paid and I have a hard time believing we beat Kansas at their own game.
