Not saying the fanbase NEEDS his support, I’m merely saying that it can’t be a bad thing if his support is gained. Two different things. But I would say that there is a certain faction of the fanbase that won’t support anything unless it’s got RMK’s stamp of approval. I am not one of those people, but they certainly are out there. Does anyone think there’s a chance that CAM reached out at all to RMK about this hire? I know it’s CAM’s decision solely but surely he has to know that getting some RMK support could really only help his cause. With the purported softening of RMK’s Ill will toward the university coupled with his recent move back to B-Town, is this at least a possibility in your eyes? I could see it happening. Last year once we got some healthy bodies he benched him. It seemed to work for the team if not so much for JS. Hopefully there were some serious conversations between him and CAM after the season and there’s a better understanding of what is and is not acceptable effort. The final class prediction for the article is Diarra, Leal, Galloway and Loveday. I can’t say I would be disappointed with that class. I really hope we are in strong position for Cross but I’m not sure who I’d give up from that class to get him instead. There’s a PG, two wings and center. Seems pretty well balanced. Last year was the perfect formula for hyped social media. Prospective B1G POY in Morgan along with a top 10 5* freshman in Romeo. It was really easy to get the fever up. Normally I try to put a positive spin on things but I notice that he is in the same class in height/weight as Galloway and Leal. I’m not going to freak out and say maybe we aren’t in as good as a position with them as we think, but with Geronimo the class would be three recruits of similar ilk. Positionless basketball theory? Maybe. It can’t hurt to be in early on a late, fast riser. I really don’t know how to feel about this one in the overall concept, not necessarily in his perceived skill set. My point is that when they were being recruited they were considered neck and neck. We offered both and pretty much said whoever accepts first gets the spot. It’s not like Newman was head and shoulders above Franklin coming out of HS. It’s more a symptom of the disease, IMHO. In some folks minds because Franklin chose IU and Newman didn’t, he must not be the better player. That statement in the original post doesn’t seem to be based upon anything other than negativism. Wayne, your original post was laid out well and made a compelling case for us to hate our program. It was mostly based on facts. I will say, however, that when you made the comment about Franklin that you doubt he’s better than Newman, that’s just being negative and discredited the rest of the post in my eyes, not that that should matter to you. Is that comment based on anything empirical or because you watched them both play in person? If so, I take it back, but it smacks of Negative Nellyism at face value. “Stalled Recruiting” seems to be an oft cited problem. Sincere question here: What does “Recruiting Momentum” look like this year? If Galloway and Leal commit soon are we no longer stalled or do we continue to be stalled because they aren’t 5* recruits or they don’t come from a “Heralded Class”?
