That has always been the best scenario, but I doubt CMW's ego would ever agree to that as it would be a transparent firing and that ego is much more important than any player or fanbase to the trigger man in that case.

IU is favored in 2 of their last 9 games so if that goes chalk that puts them at 7-13. Not going to go through all the other teams below IU but I would say that record would be far closer to the 15/16 cut point than would be comfortable.

What's the point of an in season firing at this point. This team is well outside the tourney bubble, there is no even moderately competent replacement on the bench, and there would be only a handful of games left after Wisc. I expect IU shot their shot last night, that was the best effort you will see the remainder of the season, maybe they show up for IU/OU part 2, the rest of the games that they are expected to lose in they will give meager efforts, folding early and often.

He definitely has a mental issue, whether it is pathological narcissism or dementia induced memory loss or something else. N Conservatively there are 50+ college coaches that could do more with less than CMW, considering IU's physical talent is top 15-20, there are literally 50 currently doing more with less than CMW, the only rude awakening is if they ran it back again with CMW

Roy Williams is/was infinity times better coach than MW, which makes his thin skinned crying pearl clutching all that much more pathetic.

Where did anyone say the reason for an in season firing would "contractual?" It serves the purpose to drive home the point that his coaching has been so substandard that to let it go on a handful of games is unacceptable, it serves the purpose to let unknown coaches that are interested to reach out through their representatives to kick start vetting, it serves the purpose to begin the healing of the fan base and their relationship with these players. I doubt it happens, but there are reasons.

No saying it changes his game time coaching so much, but I bet the players were reminded of football beat down a few times this week to get them even more frothed up than usual for an IU/PU matchup.
