2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves
Chris007 replied to CrossboneIU22's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I think people were saying that it's really hard to be in law school while also playing CBB. I believe he comes to IU but not 100% on that yet -
Thank you sir. It's funny I have a close friend in the Butler athletic office who is good friends with Jordan. But even he has his doubts about him. Most of their fans really want Matta back.

2019 Off-Season IU Roster News and Moves

Does this mean we can still get Kareem Abdul Jabbar? I believe he has eligibility left but none for Lew Alcindor -
The way it was explained to me he doesn't feel like he fits in with Jordan's system. He was recruited by Holtman but he really wanted to come to IU but didn't want to play for Crean. I was told around the Crossroads Classic that he was going to be a grad transfer and IU was a likely destination.

Did I miss it somewhere or was Brunk transferring from Butler not mentioned anywhere on here?

Somewhat agree with this, just that none of them can improve. Al went 29% 3pt shooting to 35% this year. He needs to make another jump next season in his shooting, ball handling needs to get better also. He also needs to learn what a good shot and what a bad shot is. Green can be one of the best players on the court when his mind is right. Davis can be a good big ten player if he stays healthy and gets his body right Smith, i've given up on him and his attitude. Forrester, Anderson, Thompson if sitting on the bench all season doesn't make them want to get better than they need to move on. Phinisee has to get 10 points a game which shouldn't be hard. He has to get stronger and finish better at the rim. His shot is only going to get better. Plus I think we will be better without Romeo. Just my two cents

Yes but PU is not quite as creative as our staff was

I agree we need one really good shooter to spread the floor. If you get more than one on the floor at a time they are usually a defensive liability
-
That will hurt them IMO, he's the one who calls all of the offensive plays. Holds up the cards on the sidelines

I listened to the first hour and He has some things just flat out wrong. No one at IU has said he can't take kids out on the court to shoot. If you want to shoot at Assembly hall just go there in the summer and you can shoot around for a few minutes. I shot around at games for years in the 80's and early 90's. I would wait till after the game go down to the floor, wait 10 minutes and then start shooting around with a ball I brought. No one ever said anything to me. He talks about not getting an interview for the job after Sampson he leaves out one key part. He was told when he was the interim coach to not do anything with any players after the season was over, the next day he kicked several players off. I can go on and on about him but I won't.

Just total guess I would say Smith and Moore. Smith because he thinks he is a ball handler and jump shooter, and Moore just to find a fit and to get more playing time. But I really have no idea. They will start having individual meetings here in the next week or so. That is when we will start to hear more.

I think all of those schools have players who are pampered. Especially UK and Duke. But those players know they have a common goal to play hard, raise their draft status. I don't think UM or MSU they are treated as well as IU players are here. Their treated like gods around here. That is the part I would put on Archie and maybe those other programs coaches do a better job of handling it. I would kick them out of their locker room, take away some of the perks and make them earn them back this summer.

I think there is a chance for Bruiser or Ostrom to interview for a job. I think both want to be head coaches. If Ostrom takes a job I could see Lewis coming in. I think Lewis is at the top of the list of people we would want. I have heard talk of the current administration wanting someone with IU ties in the program.

Yes and nothing that I saw or heard just my take on it. I don't think you ever want to have 1 one and done player. Romeo was thinking about the NBA and what he needs to do to get there. Some players are jealous, some players don't like one and done because he is going to the league and they think they're better than him. It just doesn't create a team attitude. If you have 4 or 5 one and done, their all on the same page, with one it's just different.

I'm hoping he gets a good job and spot.

When you say light years ahead do you mean he is much older and been doing this for a long time? As others have pointed out his record at Wichita St first three years was not very good in a lesser conference. He also didn't win his conference this year or make the NCAA. But I understand some of your frustrations. But it's funny to me what some of you put on coaching when it has nothing to do with coaching. I wish people could be at practice to see the coaching being done. But I can only go on Crean and Miller's practice. Last night to me didn't have anything to do with coaching, it had more to do with effort and shooting. Playing within yourself and knowing what a good shot is and what a bad shot is. All just my opinion though

Saying everyone has hit their ceiling seems to be a little false. Al, DG, Hunter, Anderson, Thompson, Smith if he is here, Forrester all can get better. We lose Romeo who didn't ever want to be a part of the team. Morgan who played an undersized forward. I'm not saying we will be better but saying that all players except Rob have his their ceiling is false.
