Agreed, I definitely think he’d want to a part of this big time and I’d hope he’d be willing to do whatever role necessary to stay onboard. I’d like to think if he knew Fife had a shot at coming he’d gladly move down the line a bit to get Dane on the bench. Is the news about an assistant today going to be about Roberts staying on staff, or someone else coming in?

Nothing against Roberts, I definitely would love to see him still on staff in some form, but hearing Dane Fife will be an assistant will be a lot more exciting to hear today than Roberts returning, ha. Doesn’t seem like Mike returning would be any type of big news knowing he’s been on the transition staff. Seems likely he’d get a role somehow anyways.

Would definitely be pumped to get Fife. Seems the situation we have brewing would be intriguing and exciting for him to want to be a part of. Plus MSU obviously isn’t in the tournament still, so maybe that’s something we can hear about fairly soon. Wouldn’t be surprised if we end up getting Lewis instead though either, and that would be just fine as well. He’d probably find our situation pretty exciting as well, plus he already knows Hunter if he happens to stay on staff.

If Woodson brings the NBA style offense and let’s the players play more freely, that in itself ought to entice the players in the portal to return. Archie seemed to have them scared to do the wrong thing every play and everything was so repetitive and structured.

Do you think this plan we had ready includes knowing the assistant coaches Mike will have on his staff, or are those positions not set yet and are just hopeful candidates discussed that he might go after?

I think this could end up being a matter where the opposing coaching staffs look at the bench of our coaching staff in the pregame handshake and go “oh s**t..”.....because I really think if they brought in Woodson his staff is gonna be BA.

I kinda like knowing Matta is on staff. That oughta be a pretty good helping hand. Let’s see who else will be joining him.

I’d like to hope like heck that since it is Woodson, a plan is already in place for who could make up a star staff.

If we do indeed get Brad, what is the most likely scenario...we hire someone like Lewis to take over until Brad shows up after the NBA season, or Brad comes before NBA season ends?

Something that does make me think this could have been arranged a while ago and that Brad was told to just deny deny deny up until this point, is how awkward that one presser was with the Dunkin’ Donuts, Masshole thing. Seemed out of character for him and just things he was trying to come up with to say to get the people in Boston what they wanted to hear. Just my personal opinion. IF he indeed comes to IU then you could probably point to that and would make sense.

A scenario where I could see that it’s not over with Brad, is he and is wife are smart people and know now this works. IU offered him to come here. He knows darn well obviously that he’s a hot commodity here and that people see him as the Golden Boy. He and his lawyer wife also know that if the Boston higher ups love him as much as they think they do, they will want to try to keep him. So they flirt with the idea of coming to IU (not to play us but seriously considering), and then figure Boston will try to match the offer and give a raise. Okay, so they do, and leads people to think he was just trying to play us to stay in Boston but get more money out of them....but then on top of all that, knowing as said before that he knows IU REALLY wants him, figure IU will most likely come back with EVEN MORE money to go higher than Boston matching our first offer, and then he takes it. Idk, was just thinking about it for a couple days. Not saying it’s all correct and how it is, but something to ponder.

I’m not saying I think it means he will be our coach, but I agree that it definitely doesn’t sound like things he would say normally and were completely pointing away from just flat out answering the question. The things he said were things that seem like something people in Boston “would want to hear” and really make them think he’s trying to be one of them....but again, I don’t wanna jump onto any theories....does seem odd though, I would agree, and makes it interesting. Again, I’m not trying to rationalize as to hold out hope, but it’s just an out of the box way of thinking about it.

I agree completely. People are trying to think outside the box with what he was saying, and I get it, but yes if I were him I’d wanna be getting the IU train rolling as soon as I could if I knew I was coming here.
