  1. Rushing what? He's had four years. The only reason they would bring him backs is because of the buyout. He's done nothing to warrant a 5th year. It's just pathetic and sad that this is what Indiana Basketball has become. Not dogging on you, I appreciate the info you share. We all love IU basketball. It's just the fans are sick of this crap. I'm sure you are too. The first team I really followed was the 2001-2002 team that went to the title game. I remember watching Bob Knight/IU games at my grandparents house. It was such a big deal then. I've never really seen this program take off like it did in the 70's, 80's, 90's. I got a small taste in 2012/2013. Tickets to an IU game are expensive. Merchandise is expensive. Cable TV to watch IU games is expensive. A lot of people spend their hard earned money on this program. I think that's about to stop. The COVID pandemic taught all of us we can find entertainment other than sports. Bringing Archie back another year just shows that they don't care about the basketball program. I'm sorry, if you're the "state school" "top basketball school in the state" you don't miss the tournament when it's in your home state yet alone on your home court. You don't lose 9 in a row to freaking Purdue. You don't miss the tournament essentially 3/3 years that they've had it.
  2. What has he even done to warrant another season other than the crappy contract Freddie handed out to him. He's missed the tournament in the three years they've had it in his tenure (would've been a 10/11 seed last year with a first round exit) He's 0-7 vs. Purdue..that itself should get a coach fired. He has a losing record against Wisconsin, Ohio State, Michigan...add Purdue that's almost 1/3 of the league. I think he's lost all momentum recruiting this state like Crean did. The top three recruits in the 2021 class are going to rival Big Ten Schools. Most importantly it's been the same thing over and over again. Crappy offense, inability to close games out...his teams get worse as the season goes on. Archie Miller is a great guy. I hate it that it hasn't worked out at Indiana. In 2017 he was on my second tier list of coaches. I thought he could be the guy. He's not. It's time to move on. Bringing him back is a slap in the face to anyone that spends their time, money, and energy on this program.
  3. If they don't make the move this year it's going to be ugly next year. Half empty Assembly Hall, low ratings...I've watched only a few games this year. Would probably by 0 next year. Sad thing is...they might actually be better next year and only because of improved guard play and frontcourt depth. If Parker Stewart is as good as people think he is and if Armaan makes another jump that will be the best backcourt in years here. Brunk and Duncomb with Race would be a good frontcourt. Thing is I have zero faith in this coach.
  4. I'll take Illinois over Michigan. I wouldn't count Purdue out either. All 3 are playing extremely well right now. Kills me to say this, but Purdue is going to be a legit national title contender next year if Williams comes back.
  5. I went to Assembly Hall on the day Indiana introduced Archie. It was spring break and I just wanted to head up to Bloomington. I'll never forget the players walking out of the tunnel for his press conference. They looked like zombies. Months later I went to the infamous Indiana State game. The players again just looked like zombies on the bench. I don't get it. These guys just don't look like they are interested in playing. I've never really seen heart from this team. Is that all on Archie or the players?
  6. The emails are what makes our fan base look silly. That being said Indiana fans are fed up. Of the last 12 NCAA Tournaments, Indiana has only made 4....that's 33% (still more likely than this current team hitting a 3 pointer). I understand why fans won't accept a Dane Fife and another mid-major hire. However I do think whoever it is, they need to have a chance. You never know. I didn't think Howard would be very good at Michigan. Beard at Texas Tech.
  7. Something odd is going on for sure.
  8. I 100 % agree about Brunk and Armaan and I know you aren't making excuses, but some fans do use the injuries as a crutch. Illinois beat Michigan by 23 without their best player. Teams win all the time with injuries. That is on Archie Miller to make sure there is depth.
  9. He will be another phony if he keeps Miller for one more year. You are 100% right.
  10. I think Archie Miller is a great guy. That being said he has zero business coming back to Indiana next year. None.
  11. I still think if Yogi/Zeller don't commit to Indiana in 2010 that he gets fired after the 2010-2011 season.
  12. Yes, same situation as the 2015 team that lost to Wichita State.
  13. What's frustrating about that team is they finished the regular season on a winning streak and then they crapped the bed against Ohio State in the BTT. Romeo looked like he had other places to be during that game.
  14. I gave Archie a chance this year. However, when they got killed by Northwestern at home I knew it was the same crap as the last three years. I think from start to finish, I've only watched a few games since. I just started posting on here recently just to see the chatter about what is going on with the program. I like talking to all of you. That being said, I just can't invest time in a program that is okay with being a bottom 4 team in the Big Ten. We are literally Nebraska right now.
  15. I appreciate all the info you and others give. In no way can this university justify bringing a coach back that lost the last 6 games of the season. If money is an issue, then Freddie wasn't as good of an AD as many of you thought he was. He gave Archie this contract. This was an epic collapse like no other. To make matters worse, the whole tournament is being played in Indiana...rds 1 and 2 at Assembly Hall!!! He's never beaten Purdue, has a losing record against the conferences best, has missed the NCAA Tournament in the three years they've had it (Indiana would've been a 10/11 seed last year...yipee....). Indiana basketball will be almost dead to me if he comes back. This tells me the university doesn't care about winning. I'm pretty sure I watched more games that the 6-25 team played than this team. I think I read where IU-Michigan State was the lowest viewed IU game in a long time.
  16. I'm just guessing... I think there will be a quick announcement. Could be early as Friday afternoon. I get the vibe IU doesn't want to wait around. The talking heads on ESPN will be all over it. I can see it now, Greenburg and Bilas arguing that Indiana should've gave Archie another year and it's a "bad look" to fire a coach in a pandemic.
  17. Good point.. I will edit it. I still wonder if 6 mil would make him think about leaving.
  18. This is what I based it off of too..I would agree. Surprised that Mack's agent reached out to IU. L'Ville must be getting hit hard. Stunned Tony Bennett is #18.
  19. Just looked..of the top 25 paid college college basketball coaches only 11 schools pay their basketball coach more than their football coach. Kentucky and Duke are outliers. Average salary wise, others pay their basketball coach either $500,000 to $1.5 million more. I'm guessing Indiana could get someone around $5.5-6.5 million a year. Would be #3 behind Kentucky and Duke. @Chris007 Is this realistic thinking? Not saying this to overpay someone (like UCLA did with Mick Cronin). But if the right guy is there...
  20. The timing of this is interesting too. It's like a message was sent that "we aren't screwing around".
  21. I take it as really good news that Indiana gave Tom Allen a well deserved raise. I think that squashes the narrative that IU needs to be cheap on this new hire for basketball.
  22. I'm a Cowboys fan. It was so Jerry Jones to wait a week after the season to announce Jason Garrett was gone. If you know-just say it and move on.
  23. Yes. You'd think he would say something IF he was coming back. I can see a change coming as early as Friday morning.
  24. Just trying to follow along from what I've read on here and other sites from those who we can trust: 1) It sounds like money is not an issue for Archie's buyout. They have enough raised. 2) Dolson has put out flyers for the job/agents of coaches have approached Indiana showing interest. 3) There was a B.O.T meeting today with people in the athletic department.
  25. I wonder this will follow the same timeline as 2017. I think IU let Crean go 48 hours after the season ended. My guess is they'd do it after the Selection Sunday. I hope to goodness with a 16 team NIT tournament that Indiana would not be selected. It could also drag on if Archie and the University mutually part ways. Lots of negotiating.
