  1. I'd have to think we hear something soon. I'm sure Woodson wants to hit the transfer portal after he has an idea of his roster. Just reading the tea leaves from other people, my guess is a combo guard who can shoot it and a stretch 4 is going to be the number 1 priority. Not that Hunter can't start, but I think that is a hole on the roster.
  2. Don't get me wrong, I want Franklin back. But man that is a lot of talent if just those three portal/NBA decision guys come back.
  3. I can't imagine listening to an IU game without Don Fischer.
  4. I sure hope to see Providence in the tournament next year. As well as our Hoosiers. Al deserves it.
  5. You not watch him at Arkansas? True he's not a 3 point threat but he still played the 4 spot a lot there and had success. It's possible if he can defend.
  6. I think Woodson only plays one big the majority of the time. He won't play as much for Woodson in my opinion. Sounds like he wants to play close to home assuming he has a year left. My only thing about Franklin is he and his mom act like they are all about IU. If that's true-he stays. Obviously I'm not a player but hearing about Mike Woodson's style vs. Archie Miller's style this should be music to their ears. Probably will get flack for this comment but part of me hopes Woodson gave them a deadline. Meaning by a certain date they are either in or out. I know Archie recruited them but they committed to play at IU. Woodson gave his pitch. They are either in or out.
  7. I think he tests the NBA draft waters (as he should) but I would be surprised if he isn't back. Lots of mock drafts had him as a mid 2nd rounder before the season. He's fallen out of the top 60. A third year makes sense. Play for a former NBA coach, get your degree in three years, and improve your draft stock. If he develops a nice mid range shot he gets drafted.
  8. I would be stunned if he left. The NBA style Woodson is bringing has to be music to his ears. I'm not as high on KL as his ranking suggests but I think he is the starting PG next year. I'd like this line up: 1 Lander 2 Franklin 3 Stewart 4 Stretch 4 Transfer that can shoot it (basically Justin Smith at Arkansas) 5 TJD Galloway, Leal, Hunter, Duncomb off the bench. Brunk and Phinisee stay, but I don't think they fit with the style Mike is talking about. If one of Lander, Stewart, or Franklin leave I'd like to see a CG transfer that can shoot it. I'd like to see them go after Tre Mitchell. I think IU recruited him. He can shoot the three ball.
  9. Good poll. I think Al, Race, and a surprise, Phinisee, leave. The surprise player that stays is Geronimo. TJD tests the NBA draft waters but comes back. IU keeps Kenya and Parker. Woody recruits a stretch 4 and combo guard that can shoot it. As much as I like Race I don't think he plays as much for Woodson as he did for Miller.
  10. I didn't like that either. Or him calling out the parents and families. I 100% agree with him on that topic, but I didn't think that was the place or time for it. I will say I love him and Woodson saying the portal is a two way street. Love it. "You want to enter the portal? Fine. But it's up to us if we want to keep you." I get the vibe Woodson is not an a$$ kisser. I still think that is part of the reason Archie didn't work out. He didn't know how to handle Romeo. Mike Woodson coached the biggest egos in the world. This is nothing.
  11. Listened to the press conference at lunch. I certainly like that he is ready to go. He is meeting with the players today and will have a staff soon. I'm warming up to the hire, but he can't have a 2008 like exodus of players and not bring anyone in. I do think this can work! Interested to see his staff.
  12. Last night was the first I had heard of it. His first year and a half at IU I was sold. It wasn't until that losing streak that I felt he didn't want to be here.
  13. Bozich and his dad said that on Assembly Call. It sure looked like it but I'm not sure I buy it. IF it's true, that is on Fred Glass for not doing his due diligence.
  14. Man..crazy 24 hours for Mike. Gets on the plane to head to Indiana, meets his teams, meets with Hunter, press conference, and now individual player meetings. I listen to Assembly Call sometimes and I don't always agree with him but Phillips said it best: What Mike Woodson does these first few weeks is going to go a long way in the success he has in his first year or two at Indiana. He has to retain some of the portal guys, hire a great staff, and start building relationships around the state while recruiting in the transfer portal. I think it is so important Woodson has a solid first year at IU like Davis and Sampson had. Make the tournament and get some momentum.
  15. Good for him! You don't want to be here? Good luck elsewhere and move on. I would think we start hearing about players soon.
  16. Historically Indiana is a top ten program. In the last 20 years, they have not been a top 25 program. Both can be true. Doesn't mean they can't get back.
  17. I'll probably get ripped for this but Dakich said it best on his show on Friday. If they don't want to be here, goodbye. I get listening to other schools while Indiana was searching for a new coach. But they have one now. They either fit in with what Mike wants to do or they don't. I don't see how someone wouldn't want to stick around for a former NBA coach when they came here to play for Archie. But that's just me.
  18. Again, who cares what he thinks. I wish IU fans would stop interacting with him on Twitter. He is getting what he wants. This is the same guy that ripped people for saying Archie wouldn't work back when he was hired in 2017. He is like Skip Bayless- an entertainer.
  19. Weird...I'll take a guess at it: Lander- Stays but wouldn't be surprised if he leaves Franklin-Stays Thompson- Iffy. I think he transfers Geronimo- Gone Stewart- Stays if Hunter is on the staff Durham- Gone TJD- Will test NBA waters but returns. Would not fall out of my chair if Phinisee and/or Hunter leave.
  20. Two weeks ago when rumors started about the job status of Miller I wouldn't have liked Mike Woodson. I'll admit it's growing on me. He wasn't on my top 5 wish list but I will give him a chance. Pros 1) He wants the job. I really don't think Archie wanted to be at IU. He just wanted to coach basketball. That's just now how it works at Indiana. 2) Today's group wants to get to the NBA. Mike Woodson played for a decade in the NBA and coached for around 25 years with 9 years as a HC. One think I saw was he led the Hawks and Knicks to their best season in years. 3) It has been said that he relates well to younger players and that he knows his X's and O's. If so, this will be a great hire. 4) He coached in New York-the biggest marked in the world. He can handle Bloomington unlike the previous coach. Cons/Concerns 1) Can he recruit? He has to have a monster staff. I hope he can retain Kenya. If he does I think a lot of our guys in the portal return. It is important he gets off to a good start. Indiana HAS to have some momentum. They have none right now. 2) If he went to another university, would he be a candidate? I guess he checks the boxes, but just makes me wonder. I expect things to move fast. It's possible we know of some players/staff by the end of the week. If he can return our core guys and bring some transfers in, a tournament appearance should be expected. My hope is Woody can leave the program in good shape. I'm not calling it a home run hire. I'm not demanding he hang a 6th banner. What I want is for IU to be fun to watch again. For the program to compete in the B1G and nationally. It is hard to win a National Championship. I want Indiana to win a National Championship but they have some work to get there.
  21. Agree. I hope he gets a good staff, keeps our top guys, and lands a nice transfer or two. If so, tournament should be the expectation no doubt. Him getting off to a good start is going to be critical. Can’t have another 18-16 type of season.
  22. Hunter, Lewis, and Fife. I think that staff keeps TJD, Lander, Franklin, and Stewart.
  23. Doesn't have to be just Dakich. I never heard Archie outside of his weekly show with Don. I like it when Painter talks to Dakich. I fee like I learn a lot about the game.
  24. My hope for his staff: Hunter, Lewis, and Fife. I think if Hunter stays that helps with Parker Stewart.
