I 100% understand looking at it from this lens. It was unacceptable. I'm most upset that A) we probably have to play another B1G Tournament game and B) We may not get to play close to home because we fell on the S-Curve because of this loss. However, this team can most certainly rebound. I know they can.

Last night was bad. It makes things so much more difficult for a team that worked so hard to put themselves in a good spot. Can probably kiss a double bye away and a 3 seed. However, you would have thought it was the 6-25 season when I logged on last night to this site. Don't get me wrong, I'm mad they blew this opportunity and it's by far the worst loss of the season. Big picture...starting with the home game against Purdue I would have been thrilled with going 5-3 in our last 8 games. 7 of the 8 games IU played a tournament team. Michigan is a bubble team. Now, if they come out flat against Michigan and get bounced in the Big Ten Tournament on Thursday/Friday we have reason to be upset. But this season isn't over. I want to see how these guys respond. IMO they're in a similar position they were in right after the Penn State game. They responded pretty well. One last thing..I don't understand the worry yet over next year. It sucks to lose Trayce and probably Jalen. If IU's roster in May has Malik/Trey as our best players, we can worry. However, Mike Woodson isn't dumb. He knows the second this season ends he has to hit the portal. If he doesn't, he deserves to lose his job. I wouldn't be surprised if he has an idea of guys who may want to transfer to IU. Everyone just wait and see what happens. That being said, I feel like Woodson has to win at least couple of games in the tournament for this season to feel like it was a success. Indiana has one of the best all-time players with a legit one and done freshman. Not saying Coach Woodson won't be able to field another good team, but when you have that combo you need to do something with it.

That's what I don't understand...they literally gave everyone the top 16 teams in order just a week and a half ago. Shouldn't they adjust based on that information? I know the Assembly Call guy did based on the bracket release. I don't see how IU is a 5 seed. They beat Illinois and Purdue since then. If anything, should be a 3 or stay the same.

Had some time on Barttorvik on lunch. According to their site, even if IU goes 1-1 this week and gets beat in the first round of the B1G Tournament, they're a 3 seed. I'm not sure if I agree with that. If they win both games as they should, it doesn't matter if they lose Friday, Saturday, Sunday, or win the whole B1G tournament, they're the last 3 seed. If I'm Indiana, win both home games this week and don't suffer a bad loss in the Big Ten Tournament. That should get you a 3 seed. Iowa is a tournament team. Michigan is a bubble team. Moves the needle a little.

Said before that if X can give IU 10-15 minutes a game, that's going to be huge. I am skeptical and want to see him play a few games first. Sounds like we may see him play this week.

Classy university. Hope we beat them by 30 tomorrow. Between that and Fran...

College Hoops always delivers! Today: Iowa State comes back down 13 with 1 1/2 minute to go and wins. Crazy TCU over Texas Tech game Bama wins a thriller over Arkansas Arizona State sinks a half court shot to beat Arizona. UK blows Auburn out. UNC gets their first Q1 victory. Miami gets upset on a last second 3. San Diego State hits a buzzer beater to beat New Mexico. Most importantly: IU goes into Mackey and kicks Purdue's A**!!

Have no idea how the rest of the season will play out but man, it feels good to see IU back in the discussion of being relevant again in College Hoops. Lead game tonight on the Field of 68. 3 of the 4 last Saturday's they have played in one of the biggest games of the slate and won all three (Purdue, Illinois, @ Purdue).

Bingo! Don't need him to be the X we saw last year. Also need Reneau to give IU around 5-8 points IMO. Trayce can't keep playing 38-40 minutes.

Still think he will breakthrough one year and make the final four. I just don't think they have the backcourt this year.

If X can be our 6th man I'll take it. Galloway doesn't deserve to lose his spot in the lineup. Malik would be our Big off the bench. Give Bates, Geronimo, Banks some minutes and see if they play well early...

I think a 7 seed like UK or Arkansas knocks them out in the second round. They need an NBA like wing on their team. Smith/Loyer/Morton aren't good enough. Jaden Ivey makes this team a title contender. They really miss him.

I give him credit. I was questioning him in mid-January. He and his staff have turned it around. Someone else just said it on Twitter. If I'm Woodson I'm showing any point guard who has hopes of playing in the NBA Jalen's footage from this game. IU has won 10/13. Let's finish strong at home!!!

Wins at Purdue, at Xavier, and at Illinois. Those are 3 top 25 teams in the Bracketmatrix. Not many other teams have impressive road wins.

We a 3 seed right now? Lots of teams around the 3, 4, 5 spot lost today.

If he makes another jump like he did this year he could be All-League good. This was in the back of my mind earlier. Would be a little risky. But yes, would help a lot.

Man what a win...as an IU fan since the early 2000s I can remember just a few games where IU won when nobody gave them a chance...'02 Duke is one of those. UK game in 2011. 1) Jalen.Hood.Schifino. Well done. Enjoy what time left of him we have. May be a top ten pick when it's all said and done. Dude just took over. Knew he was the best guard on the floor in both matchups. If he can be consistent the rest of the way... 2) Even though Trayce didn't play well, dude had 8 rebounds and 7 assists. Still found a way to impact the game. 3) Thought Woodson out-coached Painter. Made some really good adjustments all night. 3-1 vs Purdue in two years. 4) Galloway was HUGE! Most improved player this year? Felt he and JHS just set the tone. Nothing against Loyer and Smith..but JHS and Trey are better. Just outtoughed Purdue. 5) Don't get me wrong. Purdue is a good team. Very good. Sweet 16 good. I just haven't thought at all this year that they are top 5/top 10 good. Edey is the POY. Just don't think they are that good outside of that. As much as I like Painter, I can't stand some of their fan base. Obnoxious. And they've won NOTHING. Massive win. Let's finish strong at home and IU is probably a 3 seed. Hope they can get a healthy Xavier Johnson back! Only downside was IU got nothing out of their bench. offensively.

This team can win and win big without X. Just requires a bench to step up. As I said earlier this week, thank goodness the NCAA Tournament is at a neutral site.

If he could score around 7-9 points, play defense, and overall be on the plus side in about 15 minutes of play, that would be huge.

In a reserve role I think we can say Elston in '13. Him being hurt most the the year hurt that teams depth...

I keep waiting for him to lol. Hope you are right. He might be Iu's 3rd most important player right now in terms of needing to play well.

My mindset when X got hurt was for them to go a little bit above .500 without him in Big Ten Play. IU went 9-6. That's tremendous. I just don't know if it's sustainable. While the Big Ten is deep with tournament teams, only IU and Purdue are getting top 16 consideration. I just don't know if this team without X could beat another top 20 team in the 2nd round or a top 4 team in the Sweet 16. Jalen and Trayce would have to be superman. Somebody HAS to step up. Hearing this news changes my mindset about Bates. I just hope he has a game where he goes off and that can lead to some confidence. He's not done much in the last month.

Yep..not the update I was wanting to hear. He may join May in '75 and Alan in '93 as what could have been..

At one point IU had just made a layup and Michigan State responded and he said "Michigan State on an 8-0 run". People make mistakes but I don't like it when it's that obvious.

That play by play guy was horrible.. so many incorrect facts last night. I actually felt bad for Bilas.
