  1. Pretty much. They introduced the men's team and the assistants/staff that were there. Then did some fan contests. I felt going in that it was more for the men's team but that was just me. We were super pumped to get Holmes autograph.
  2. IMO it's overblown. Peegs version of our Chris basically said both the men and women's program are embarrassed it got put out on Twitter as a big deal. The lady who runs the ticket project got mad because they did not recognize the women's team during the short event. They were there for the autograph/pictures but were sitting courtside. I guess some people got in Eric and Ward's faces after the event. I didn't see it as I went to the autograph lines. Kind of embarrassing. Should they have mentioned them? Probably. It's important to keep in mind the NCAA completely made them change the event. But getting in their faces after the event and going on a Twitter rant isn't the way to make that point. I know the women had their team camp today and it looks like it had a good turnout.
  3. Solid event! We got the whole team to sign the poster except for Leal, Sparks, and Newton. I wasn't the biggest Hysteric fan years ago but I enjoy their IU interviews and they were nice when we met them. As personalities go, Anthony Walker, Malik, Kaleb, and CJ are probably the best ones on the team. Since they couldn't scrimmage they did some fun things like re-creating the Wat-Shot. They chose a few fans but finally Watford himself was able to knock it in. Calbert got the biggest ovation of the night. Overall a really good event for us diehards. I'd like to go every year just to have them sign the team poster. That alone is worth the price of admission. Also, it's never a bad day when you get to go to Nick's and Assembly Hall.
  4. I'm all on board with the raise. So far, he's exceeded my expectations. Bozich had a really solid article about how now it's time for the next step. Big year ahead.
  5. Question for those who have been..do they have photos for players/coaches to sign like at Huber's or do you need to bring something for players to sign.
  6. Still looking forward to this as well. Maybe it will be better as it might be more time to meet the players and coaches.
  7. Mustaf announcing September 14. IU is in his top 6 along with Maryland, Florida State, NC State, Georgia Tech, and Arkansas. I haven't heard much since his visit in June. Feel like we have a good chance but wouldn't think we are the favorite with Fland and Harper recruitment still going on.
  8. I have to agree with you. Don't want to say it's a must but you need to start getting commitments before the season starts. Yes, this would open the door with Queen and Fland.
  9. Have things cooled off between Mustaf and IU? Noticed he was 8 on the ITH Hot Board they put out this last week. He was top 5.
  10. Agree. I know we heard this a lot with the previous coaching staff, but I trust Woodson. Hope I'm wrong on CJ and he is able to play a significant role off the bench. If he can average 5-6 points a game and shoot in the high 30's on threes, that will be big. Eric (one of the Hysterics) has said for quite some time that he would not expect much out of Jakai this year. Hope that's not the case. Some people believe his injury is one of those where it takes him awhile to return to his normal self.
  11. I HOPE Jakai's knee is not an issue. If it's not I think he will be in the rotation. Still think he's a top 50 kid if he doesn't get hurt. On the second part I agree. It's not happening but even though Reeves would have started here and is a much much better scorer than Trey, I think Trey's all around game is much better than Reeves.
  12. Solid non-conference schedule. Wonder how they'll determine who plays who in the Empire Classic. Just a guess..Louisville vs. UConn and us vs. Texas. If IU can avoid playing Louisville not a bad non-conference schedule. Kansas, UConn and/or Texas, Auburn. Add in some respectable programs like Harvard, Kennesaw State, Morehead State, and FGCU.
  13. It's just crazy..felt like ten years ago your roster was pretty much set by May. I remember when Wiggins was in high school and committed to Kansas in May feeling how late that was..Now, it might be August when your roster is set. I do hope the staff can add a reliable shooter, even if it's a role player like a Zeisloft. Just not confident in CJ Gunn being the backup 2.
  14. Career 37% shooter on about 6 attempts a game. 6'5 as well. Sign me up, even if it's a reserve role. EDIT: Horton played with X in 2020-2021 at Pitt. I know X left the program but wonder if there is a good relationship.
  15. I laugh. UK fans went from wanting Cal gone with this "CBI roster". Now with Reeves coming back and Tre Mitchell they are about to win their 9th National Title. Comical fan base.
  16. Bingo. Why I'm not the biggest fan of the league. Thing people forget, including me, is that these are 17, 18, 19 year olds. They are still developing. Of ESPN's top 8 '22 recruits, only one (Lively) was a lottery pick. Mitchell and Ware had disappointing freshman seasons. Nick Smith was supposedly a top 5 pick coming into the year. It's possible injuries played a role and situations around the school these players chose. However, I feel once some of these kids get to college they just take off. Like a Taylor Hendricks or Jalen... Even 2nd year guys like Bufkin and Hawkins developed.
  17. Very well could but Trayce was nowhere near the #1 player in is class Lively supposedly was. Again, I'm a homer and can't stand Duke one bit so I'm going to be biased a little. Lively may have a solid career simply because as it has been pointed out, he's a rim protector. Sounds like it's being suggested Trayce fell a bit because he did not want to be on a two way contract. No way there are 56 better players in the draft than Trayce.
  18. If I'm someone in Flory's "camp" I show them what Trayce was before Woodson vs. after Woodson as well as Lively's "development" at Duke. #1 recruit, 5 points a game, and the #12 overall pick. If you are a high school #1 overall player, you should be going top 5. Either that or Lively was overhyped which is possible. Sorry, I hate Duke and I'm not on the Scheyer bandwagon like the national media folks. They greatly underachieved this year with the talent they had.
  19. Saw ESPN listed their top 25 today. I think now is the best time to look at it as most rosters are complete. Ours may/may not be. A few things that stand out: 1) I think Kansas is the clear cut #1 team. On paper they are loaded. That game in December at Assembly Hall will be a true measuring stick game for our team this year. That being said..who was the last preseason #1 to win it all. Carolina with Hansbrough and those guys? Florida in '07? Lots of pressure... 2) Really like the next set of teams like Michigan State, Tennessee, UConn, and Duke. UConn really helped themselves returning Newton and getting Spencer. Tennessee I think had a very good offseason with returning guys. Kills me to say this but Knecht is going to help that team so much. They've lacked an elite shooter like him. Michigan State and Duke return the same team for the most part. 3) I think Houston, Gonzaga, Florida Atlantic, Marquette, and Creighton are also in the mix as legit final four contenders. 4) I think there are probably 25-30 teams you could rank from 11-25...Really good for the game. IU could be a 3/4 seed..they could also be an 8/9 seed. A lot of teams adding new pieces. Just so much uncertainty. 5) I love that Purdue is being considered as a top 5 team...these experts not watch the end of last year? I think you have to say they're a top 15 team with a guy like Edey returning. I'm just not impressed with that supporting cast. I think Loyer is the only other player that is a starter on a really good team. The 22-23 Purdue team is by far the most overrated college basketball team of the last 20 years. And I'm not saying that because I'm an IU homer. They had a very good Thanksgiving weekend and an easy B1G Schedule. Edit: LOL they have to include Kentucky on the next list out..IF Bradshaw and Reeves were healthy/returning they are for sure ranked. In fact, I think top 15 good. But I'm not sure they're an NCAA Tournament team right now, especially if Bradshaw is hurt. https://www.espn.com/mens-college-basketball/story/_/id/36058691/2023-24-way-too-early-top-25-men-college-basketball-rankings
  20. Let's get it done Woody!! I think we all want to see a sea of red at Lucas Oil for the 2026 Final Four.
  21. I'm not at all a big NBA fan. But the top guys you want to get for your team all want to get there. Woody played for 11 years, was an assistant for 14 years, and head coach for 8...Recruits I think are starting to see his work pay off (Jalen and Trayce really helped Woodson prove that). Really starting to wonder why he wasn't hired before 2021..
  22. 100% a player I'd love to see at IU! Don't think he would start as a freshman but he's a kid that for sure would slide in as a sophomore. Insane what's going on. Feels like IU is in great shape with Liam, Boogie, Queen, Jaedan, and Tyler. As an IU fan I can't remember this kind of recruiting momentum. I remember 2010-2012 IU was popular but it cooled off for various reasons. Still, gotta close...
  23. I know but he's been there for three years. Tulane isn't a P6 school. So good for him for staying. Most guys want to get out with NIL opportunities and what not. Just kind of rare to see now.
  24. Sucks for us but props to him for staying at his original school. You don't see that too much.
