  1. I'll have to watch film on him but his numbers look good and it seems like a fit. Let's make it happen Woody!
  2. Have zero clue how much he knows but on his space he says IU is the team to watch. Ya has a connection with him being at Alabama. Around 11:00 mark. Around the 4:30 mark they say we have been tampering with him..lol whatever it's about time for IU to start messing in the gray are. https://twitter.com/i/spaces/1vAGRArRALPKl
  3. I think one of Harper/Boogie with Mustaf is realistic. Swartz and Betsey would be awesome. Guys who won't start right away but be rotational pieces that hopefully develop into starters.
  4. Because we are all excited about the '24 class and it's summer with not as much to talk about, I thought I'd do a fun topic. Let's say you are on staff. Which 5 '24 recruits would make your ideal class? Keep in mind the current players on the roster and the ability to add in the portal. I'll start with my 5: Liam, Boogie, Queen, Betsey, Caleb Williams Liam, Boogie, and Queen are day 1 starters. Queen I think is a multi-year player. Boogie and Liam very well could be one and dones. They very well could be multi-year players. It'll be interesting to see how they continue to develop. Tyler Betsey I think is a kid that could have a limited role as a freshman (similar to Malik..different positions/type of player) then start as a sophomore. He feels like a 3-4 year player. Add in someone like Caleb Williams as a developmental prospect. Someone who won't play as much as a freshman. Overall I'd like to have 2-3 guys make a major impact in their freshman year. (Ex: Jalen, Romeo, Cody, Eric Gordon). Maybe 1-2 of them stick around for another year or two. Add in 1-2 guys that are rotational pieces as freshman and can start as a sophomore (Ex: OG, Malik). Add in a developmental guy that later contributes (Ex: Hartman, Juwan, hopefully Kaleb). As for the current guys;..I'm really high on Cupps/Newton and think they could be your starting backcourt in a few years. Just depends on Jakai's health. Also think Malik as a junior could be All-American good. Add in shopping for vets in the portal... One thing I'll warn everyone on. I don't think you win with starting all freshman. I still think you need veteran players. I don't mind IU landing Queen, Liam, and Boogie. I just hope at least two of them are multi-year guys.
  5. Insane. Again, I hope IU can land him. Kid fits like a glove. Worried he may go to Michigan. I think he would get more opportunities there. I feel IU this year will be balanced.
  6. I know our insiders don't see us getting a commitment until the fall but I think it may be sooner than that. With what Jalen accomplished at IU it has to speak volume to these high schoolers. Boogie has a lot of Jalen in him. I think he is a smaller/faster version on Jalen. If Boogie falls in love with IU, why not? One thing, I feel like IU was kind of on the outside with Boogie. Feels like since the Mgbako commitment it started interest again. Also, I feel he is a two year player. Jalen is 6'6. Boogie is 6'3. He is a little small but that's okay.
  7. IF anyone is interested...on vacation last week I made a spreadsheet of all the '24 kids IU is going after. I have the spot they are ranked on Hot Boards, their position, rankings, schools recruiting them, if they took an OV, and if IU has a legit chance listed. I'd be more than happy to share it with anyone of you. Just message me your email. I'm excited for this class. It just feels like we have a legit chance due to getting these kids on campus.
  8. For sure a ton of questions..X coming off an injury, Mack is just a freshman, Malik/Ke'el were limited as freshman, Banks/Gunn didn't do much in their first year. I feel Reeves/Trey offset each other so well. I just like Trey's game coming off the bench as a 6 man.
  9. If Indiana can land him that would be massive. He just fits what this team is missing. I think he makes IU a legit Final Four contender. I have to think the staff/players know this and will do what it takes to get him. Edit: IF IU lands him, I don't think national idiots will have us very high still in the rankings which is fine by me. I like how this team is being slept on.
  10. With summer break going on I'm going to try and do a study of some of the top prospects IU is going after. Haven't done this in about 4-5 years as excitement has been down. Sometimes I along with other fans are guilty of looking at the ranking and not watching the actual player. With Liam, he is legit worth the top ten ranking. Not sure where I rank him but I think he has to be one of the top 2 or 3 players IU is going after. Might end up being #1 on my list. Seems like a really tough kid. Can play the 3 or 4. He is capable of leading fast breaks. Really good mid range game. Attacks the paint really well and finishes. Has a very nice three point shot. On defense he jumped in front of a few passes. Legit 5 star. I think he is a possible one and done player.
  11. I'm a HUGE Cupps fan. I think he's going to get around 15 minutes a game this year. I love that he is already getting up early to go to Cook Hall at 5:30. IU hasn't had that in awhile. That being said..if you can get a legit player like Fland you do it and figure out the rest later. I trust the staff.
  12. Great article. Really excited to see what this group does..with an addition of one more player. I love that the national folks are sleeping on IU. I think this could be a really good team. This summer starting on Monday is going to be really important. There is a lot of talent on this team. When was the last time IU had three 5 stars on one team? 2016 with Yogi, JBJ, and Thomas? Add in a 6 year Point Guard... If Woodson can get this team to stay at the top of the Big Ten and maybe win a few more in the tournament this year, I think this program will take off.
  13. How accurate is message board and twitter speculation...idk but it sounds like he's 50/50 on going back to UK. If he does enter the portal, sounds like us along with Illinois and Memphis have a shot. IMO he fits perfect here.
  14. Very cool story. Saw 247 has him as the #34 transfer overall. Lot of upside it seems. Think he would be like our 6th man for this coming season. Sounds like the staff is seeing who else is out there before going all in on him. Have to think if the staff goes all in IU would be able to get him.
  15. Really good event! If you are an IU fan and live around 2 hours from Huber's it is a must. Met X and Trey. Really cool autograph session at the end. Food was very good. Dolson had a few remarks and Fish came out to talk with Tom Allen and Coach Woodson. They did a player session with some other athletes in addition to Trey and X (Parrish, Jaylin Lucas, Matthew Bedford).
  16. Awesome I can't wait. I bet there may have been more people with Covid and what not in 2020/2021. Sounds like they'll have stuff for me to have them sign! I may bring a ball as well. I'll let everyone know how it goes.
  17. Sorry if there was already a thread created...I am going to the Huber's event tomorrow! Anyone else going? Seems like a really cool event. Just got an email that it will feature Coach Woodson and Coach Allen as well as players from Men's/Women's basketball, Football, and other IU sports. I assume Woodson and Allen will have some remarks. Add that to a dinner and autograph session, seems like it should be a good time!
  18. If Trey could go from around 6.5 ppg to about 9-10, I'd really like him. Trey finished the year with 6 straight games without reaching double figures. If you want to be a legit contender, I don't think your 2 guard can go 6 straight games without scoring at least 10 points...especially in March. One thing that's true, Trey is a hard worker. I have no doubt he will get better. But I also understand the need/want for IU to get a transfer at that spot.
  19. In a sense I get it too. Right now, IU is probably a borderline top 25 team. X coming off an injury, Reneau and Ware while talented both were not featured guys a year ago. Mgbako is a freshman too. However, I really think it can work. Also, I don't think they're done adding pieces. They are waiting on a guys who are leaving the NBA draft.
  20. I crack up at this clown.. he says "The truth is probably somewhere in the middle: Kansas was in good position, but Indiana was never truly out of it." Not the biggest Rabby fan but that is literally what he said all week.
  21. Bingo. I'm not a huge NBA fan, but I may have to invest in a JHS jersey. Wearing my red and white colored glasses here but he has All-Star potential.
  22. I agree it is a huge question mark about playing high talent freshmen and transfers but I'm afraid it's here to stay. I hated it 10 years ago but I really do think you will see this almost every year from now on. IU will play around 8-9 guys in their rotation. X, Trey, and Malik are the only 3 that really contributed in the prior years. I would like to see IU land another guard that is an upperclassmen. While talented, our starting frontcourt is Fr-So-So. Granted we have a 6 year PG which is awesome and a 4 year guy in Trey. For me this is ideal: X, Trey or Transfer, Mack, Malik, Ware as the starting 5. Trey or transfer guard off the bench. Depending on the matchup Anthony or Sparks. I can see both playing heavy minutes one game and none the next. Give Cupps some minutes as well. See what Banks/Gunn can do. Both are going to have to take a huge step forward to see significant minutes. Newton feels like he won't see as much this year. My expectations are around the same as last preseason: Top 4-5 in the Big Ten and be a second weekend team. IF they can land a high level guard and move Trey as 6th man, I really think this is a Final Four roster.
  23. What is going on with Catchings? Been quiet for a few weeks. Sorry to get OT.
  24. Have to think at least one. I still say this: The biggest thing the Romeo Langford did for IU was help this program land Trayce. Not saying IU wouldn't have been able to get Trayce without him, but it would have been much more difficult. I thought Dylan Harper and his comments were interesting.
  25. This was such a massive, massive win for this program for a number of reasons: 1) Tells me this program is continuing to go into the right direction. I said two months ago that IU couldn't afford to take a huge step back in 23-24. I really think this is a top 25, top 4 B1G team that could make some noise. 2) Staff went against the big boys for this one. Woodson and co. did such an incredible job. You could really tell they wanted Mack. While it's "stressful" for us fans, if IU wants to be a player again they're going to have to win these type of recruitments. 3) Sends a message to the '24 or '25 guys I think. Get on board. Right now I think IU has a good chance of having two first rounders for the '24 draft in addition to this years draft. Not many programs can say that. 4) Was nice to shut up the arrogant college basketball media folks and KU fans. I'm a huge fan of Dauster and the F68 but was a little disappointed to hear him say "I really hope this kid picks Kansas". Obviously this is a reason to celebrate but we know the staff isn't done. I do think that if they can land a starting caliber guard (hopefully on upperclassman), this roster I think is Final Four good.
