I would love to ask Archie why he changed the offense from our first year to this crowded mess that we run now. I was watching some highlights from that first year and the spacing and pace we played at was so much better. We weren't constantly looking over at Archie about what play to run like we do now and there was way more fluidity to the play. We were still a terrible shooting team and didn't shoot enough 3s but I remember thinking that whenever Archie got some of his recruits in to that offense it'd be pretty good. I'm just confused why he decided to change it so drastically to what we see now.

Sounds like you could be the Hoosiers coach for the next 30 years with that young age. -

He's still only 42. Maybe he goes back to a mid major program and has a lot of success with some adjustments to his system. He'd probably get another shot at coaching at big time program. -

Please be true. Fresh start would be good for both sides. -

Give me Scott Drew. I'm of the opinion the last two years are more indicative of what he'll be going forward since he switched his defensive system up. The tourney is such a crap shoot. All it takes is getting hot once. Virginia can lose to a 16 seed and then go and win the title the next year. Having great regular season teams with Kenpom numbers capable of winning a title is much more important to me than having one final four run. If you have those great regular season teams, you'll make a run eventually. -
I disagree a little. Archie’s offensive system is not conducive to success in modern basketball. He doesn’t value three point shooting enough and I know i saw concerns about that from his time at Dayton. Most of the best teams are really good shooting teams. The last four years we consistently have at least two people that are terrible three point shooters. Archie’s system is all about drawing fouls. Drawing fouls is helpful but when it’s the only focus it leads to clogged paints and a lot of the bad offense that we’ve seen the last few years. The game is trending to four or five players on the court that can all shoot but Archie usually plays at least two that won’t even look at the basket outside of five feet. The inability to develop that stretch four has really hurt us.

These teams are really fun to watch. Lots of shots being hit these first 10 minutes.

Saw somewhere that Archie is like 2-22 vs Michigan, OSU, Purdue, and Wisky. You can’t have a guaranteed loss to a third of the league and keep your job here.

Should’ve hired Chris Mack four years ago. -

Give me Drew out of those. Young enough that he could be here 20 years. I think the last two years are what he’ll be like going forward so I’d have the most faith in him giving us a shot at a title. -

Just keep Archie if Enfield is the best we do. Only reason USC is good this year is because they hired Evan Mobley’s dad as coach and the PAC 12 is terrible. -

If we’re just throwing candidates out there Chauncey Billups? Could be the next Juwan Howard. Interviewed for a couple of NBA head coaching jobs last year. Everyone knows who he is. Assistant for the Clippers right now. No Indiana ties so it’d be a real out of left field candidate. -

Seeing some of the possible candidates for this year makes me sad that we got this hire so wrong during our last search. Looking back, the potential candidates seemed a lot better than the one's that are being thrown out now. Getting one of Drew, Stevens, Musselman, or Oats seems like a pipe dream by the sounds of it. I'm sure I could talk myself into Fife if that's what we end up doing but there is definitely is a lot of risk with him. Would love a more proven candidate since we've been so mediocre for the last 25 years. -

Seems like a worse Archie. He's young so that helps but looking at his offensive numbers, he's never had an offense ranked higher than 150 on Kenpom. -
Suffering through another year of this would be painful.

Scott sounds like a giant Hoosiers sports fan just like all of us. Gives me some hope that he'll want to get us back to winning like when he was a manager. -

The improvement can be directly tied to a change in his defensive system. He's going to have another top 10 team next year most likely. I don't know what other coach we could get that has ever had a three year regular season stretch that good. The tourney is a crap shoot but if you consistently have great teams you'll go deep eventually. https://fivethirtyeight.com/features/baylor-was-known-for-its-offense-now-its-winning-with-defense/ -

I wish we got to see what his team would've done last year since it was his best team. If he had that final four run last year or this year I think there'd be very few questions about him. -

I’m sure Ed Cooley is a great coach but his resume at Providence is worse than Archie’s at Dayton was. I don’t know if there’s anything either advanced stat wise or just w/l record wise that would lead me to believe he’d have sustained high level success here. Feels like a big risk and half the fan base would be unhappy with him before he even coached a game. -

Wouldn't winning be the thing that unites the fanbase the most. I think there are many coaches that can win here even if they're not a sexy name.
