Game 1 in the books. IUFB 27 ODU 14. I liked what I saw regarding the front 5. Total domination. Could have potentially been a 50+ point blowout. But it wasn't and there's a lot to work on. Next game: Kennesaw State Owls

(2022) QB Josh Hoover TCU - 2026 Transfer to IU
Lebowski replied to Dalton26's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
He made the right decision but man, can you imagine this guy slinging it for Coach Cig. What could have been. -
Not triggered at all. I just understand what the word means and IU's QB accuracy was far from horrid or poor this past Saturday. He hit nine freaking targets! Did he have bad balls? Yes. Did he throw like a Sunday QB? No. His accuracy was better than the average Saturday QBs playing their 1st game of the season. And his completion percentage gets dinged for dropped balls, which happened several times. I'm not putting any blame on anyone. We won! This team is in better shape then last year's team after the first game of the season. And there's lots to work on and straighten out. On to the next game.

Was his 60 yard dropped bomb accurate or inaccurate or "horrid" as you put it? The Nandolarian hit nine different targets in the game and several dropped passes. Does a qb with horrid accuracy typically complete passes to nine different targets? Was he inaccurate on some passes? Yes. Was his accuracy horrid? Not by standards, but that's just me. For me, having horrid accuracy means you're not placing a catchable ball. If the ball is catchable and if it actually touches a receiver's hand(s) than that drop is not a QB problem. There were several drops yesterday, one of them making it a completely different conversation about The Nandolarian's passing stats and overall performance.

The Nandolarian’s day looks a lot better with a 60 yard TD to Omar Cooper. Remember, Cooper dropped a well placed ball by The Nandolarian. Line could have been: - 19/31 for 253 yards (8.16 y/a), 1 TD - 6 rushes for 33 yards (5.5 ypc), 1 TD Lots to work on for sure but also not as bad as people who didn’t watch the game are making it sound.

I gotcha. I'm just trying to set you at ease. We got a real football coach. Like a really solid proven winner. He also covered the busted plays on D (probably the most "Allen type" plays if we're all being honest with ourselves) . I don't think anyone would be this critical and/or concerned if the game ended up in a shutout. I could be wrong though.

I understand your point and concerns but this ain't your Tom Allen football team. Those days are long gone and the rear view mirror has been completely torn off!! This is a Curt Cignetti football team. We'll be fine. https://twitter.com/JordanJamie/status/1961959786083221515?t=IPf8WCR61elgIu_zAPFywg&s=19

I thought he was good. He didn't throw a pick or lose the football via fumble. He hit multiple targets and threw to open receivers, that dropped his passes. He read the RPO correctly, for the most part. He rushed for positive yards when needed. And yes, he made typical 1st game mistakes. But most importantly, he managed the game to a win.1-0. On to the next game.

Everyone, just relax, this is the 1st game of the season against a decent G5 opponent. Last year it was 21-7 going into half against FIU. Our run game is much better compared to last year at this time. Cooper just flat dropped a well placed TD throw. We completely shut down ODU's rushing game in the 2nd qtr. Had decent clock management on the final drive but doinked a 52 yard FG attempt. These things happen in the 1st game. Mendoza will get better. Rourke made mistakes against FIU too.

Herbstreit just said with a straight face that you should be rewarded for losing.

Minnesota has Miami(OH) transfer Javon Tracy who had 3 catches for 71 yards against Buffalo last night. Last year, IUFB's QB transferred in from Ohio, it was his 6th year. The 6 and 7 year players will dwindle down due to the COVID year.
-
Yeah, I thought for sure he would have transferred this year. I mentioned him here.
-
It's a brutal schedule. Let's hope they upset Bama!! LOL!!
-
To be fair all of those MAC teams are consistent top half conference teams. They'd probably be able to compete with any mid level P4 team. Many of those MAC players will end up transferring to or will have come from P4 schools.

Coach Cig and Coach Ricky Rahne have faced each other twice (Royal Rivalry). Coach Rahne is very familiar with IUFB's scheme. Aiden Fisher (assuming all the other JMU guys do as well) has a really good pulse on ODU. RS SO QB Colton Joseph has legs. He played 9 games, replacing current IUFB backup QB Grant Wilson, and rushed for 647 yards with an avg of 5.7 a carry. He totaled 22TDs (11 Passing, 11 Rushing) last season. West coast guy that if he stays healthy and plays as well as he did last season will most likely transfer to a P4 school. Our beloved Hoosiers play against multiple teams with mobile QBs this year (Kennesaw St., Illinois, Iowa, MSU, Maryland, and PSU). Although it's the first game of the season, this game will let us know right away how the D can handle a mobile QB.

I won't be surprised if we don't cover the score. "The game's gonna be hard. I expect a really tough challenge from Old Dominion. We're going to have to play really well." -Coach Cig https://www.on3.com/teams/indiana-hoosiers/news/opposing-coach-qa-old-dominion-head-coach-ricky-rahne-previews-week-1-matchup-with-indiana/
