I'm sure he fully expects that to happen. I'm also certain he and his staff will be hitting the portal as well. They need to fill some spots on the defensive side of the ball. Losing Blidi comes to mind.

15 minute interview: Hoosier Hysterics Podcast: Coach Cignetti He mentions a desire to change some NIL rules and understands the importance of football (83% revenue) in the athletic department. It's worth a listen.

(2025) WR LeBron Bond to Indiana
Lebowski replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Shane Wynn also comes to mind. Yeah, I typically don't get too excited about verbal commits until after the season is over. We haven't even started the season. LOL. -
Yeah, Lucas is probably a really good comparison. Shane Wynn is another comparison. Bond is under 5'10" but is able to create space. It also helps that his teammates on the field are really good as well. He has offers from a handful of P4 schools, Maryland being one of them.

He's making an unofficial visit this Saturday 4/6. So he's go some real interest in what our message is to him. Rivals has him as 4 stars.

(2025) CB Jaylen Bell to Indiana
Lebowski replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
Yeah, he's in Hurricane colors on his On3 profile pic. I'm just glad he's interested in Cream and Crimson as well. LOL! He's a 4 star on Rivals so this kid's probably got some much welcomed talent to B-Town. He must of liked our message for him to even consider us. He's got a nice list of offers on his sheet. -

(2025) CB Jaylen Bell to Indiana
Lebowski replied to Lebowski's topic in Indiana Football Recruiting Forum
They did offer. He's also a decommit from LSU. He committed to LSU in Nov. of 2022 and decommitted this year in Feb. On3 has The U and the Gamecocks as the front runners at this point. -
QB out of Fonda, NY IUFB is his first D1 offer of many more to come. Freshman year stats (source) throwing dimes: 2957 yds 31 TDs 63%

To be fair, most of IUFBs HCs in the past were able to first recruit P5, now P4, talent or at least gain interest from P4 talent at the beginning of their hire. It's the consistent winning part that hasn't happened since, like, ever. Another factor that might be in play here is NIL. We were able to grab Cherry and I'm not sure how much NIL played a part in that but I would imagine it did. It might just be me, but this feels different. It feels like we finally got a HC that knows what he's doing if that makes sense.

The margin of victory and losses is the main driving metric. IUBB is suffering from wining games by less than 10 (9.6 to be exact). Even though they have one of the best, if not the best, records in the conference of wins by single digits (aka close games). Also, blowout losses to UConn and Auburn in November and December carry more weight than a winning streak or clicking at the right time late in the season. Bottom line, the NCAA Evaluation Tool (NET) rankings hate Indiana's resume. The NET rankings apparently carries more weight with blowout wins to mid-majors and wins in November and December over improving during the season and ending the regular season on a four-game winning streak. Basically the current system places value on blowing teams out, does not value close wins against weaker opponents and penalizes teams that suffer blowout losses even if it's to better teams. All of this happened to IUBB. IUBB basically has to win the Big Ten tournament in order to punch a ticket. But personally, I think they are good enough to make the tournament right now without anymore wins. But that's just me. It is what it is.
