(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
Yogi's Picnic Basket replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
All 3 have a legititmate shot at him right now. Vandy isn't just a throw in I promise. What I've been told and said for awhile that Garland and Romeo DO WANT to play TOGETHER. If Garland does choose Vandy(I think he is IU's), Romeo will seriously consider them and may push them even with us. I was told IF Romeo were to choose right now it would be IU, but that isn't the case so. Adidas is a huge pro for KU and IU though. As much as I have heard that he and Garland want to play together, Romeo will still be a legititmate option to be a Hoosier, but I will be worried. KU is 2nd right now IMO with Vandy only having a shot if they land Garland. Regardless of what happens, Bryce Drew and Vandy have been put on the map. 3 top 15 recruits seriously considering them is crazy. -

Pretty much. I'm thinking Archie does whatever he has to to get Hartman on the court. He is needed. -

Thank you for this. They also know if they were to come here over half the roster would be guys who haven't played a minute for IU. Last night sucked as a fan but didnt make me worried about what Romeo or Darius thought that could derail them from coming here off ONE GAME. -

The people freaking out over Darius or Romeo watching last night's game can pump the breaks too. Both knew this year may not be the best and that is why they wanted to come together. Also to note, potentially 7 guys on next years team won't play a single minute at IU this year. That is more than half the roster for those bad at math. It does suck of course but I don't think it will be a deciding factor for Romeo as Garland has already made his choice. Romeo has known why he is wanted so badly as well as Darius. Monday will be a big day whether good or bad, but Romeo isn't announcing soon so Archie has time to get these guys playing better and at least showing hope. -

Garland was NOT at the Vandy game. Confirmed. If anyone was actually worried. -

Being my first official game to cover, it wasn't a good start at all. Archie was beyond himself with the team. Didn't sound like a single kid wanted to speak up after either and that worries me. Hartman didn't play and I pray he comes back soon because RIGHT NOW he is our only player who holds these guys accountable ON the court. Green showed somewhat of a leader I hear after, but it'll take him a bit to learn how. He shouldn't be expected to with RoJo, Newkirk, McSwain, Priller and Hartman but it is what it is. It was only one gamel, but we have to turn it around quickly or this season will be a waste. Regardless though, this isn't on Archie. Like plenty have said, most of these guys have established their personalities here and it will take longer than what he has been given so far to really get these guys playing his style. I expect this team to only get better as the year goes. Archie was asked if he would consider playing Race and it sounds like it isn't an option right now. I do expect Moore to get some more run if Hartman isn't available the next few games. The Seton Hall game could be ugly. I'm praying for good news Monday because the talent level isn't on par with a tourney team right now. We are sorely missing a go to guy on offense. -
Newkirk can start on the bench. Just hasn't looked good whatsoever. Davis and Morgan are the only thing keeping this from being completely over. What I saw in the first half isn't encouraging that we can come back. This is where we see how good Archie can come back from these things tho. Not saying Archie is to blame at all. The players gotta show up but I want to see what adhustments he makes.

If he choose IU and its reported by anyone other than Darius I will be disappointed. This is a life changing moment. Let the kid have it. -

Rabs is definitely gonna miss the attention once Garland announces. He has been pretty much the main voice the last week or so. -

Outside looking in Wilkes, but I knew UCLA had him as did others. He was taking pictures and sending them to Alford on his last or next to last visit to IU. I do respect him for telling Crean in person. He deserves a lot of respect for that. -

I stand by that. Everything I heard for weeks adds up in some way. The day of the announcement I heard conflicted reports but we all know that they have had trouble with that with todays news lol. I will go down w the IU ship regardless. Too much points to us from what I've heard and read. We shall find out Monday maybe sooner the way things are going. -

I'm sticking w my IU pick, but if Darius brushes his teeth with a gold toothbrush the morning of, I will give in and say it's Vandy. -

If you guys really wanna read into every detail why is no one mentioning Rabs has been the guy to break the last 3 Garland stories/news? Lol. Our last few fb recruits have gotten ahold of me or Weaver to let us know all the things Garland is doing with Rabs. Personally I dont read into it much but if people are really using his time of announcement as a dang negative for IU then c'mon lol. -

I just say we lock up this thread till Tuesday. As long as I have believed them to be a package deal(long time) off info, I don't think Romeo says no to us. U of L was the leader for awhile so at one point he was okay playing without Garland. I know they WANT to, but it isn't set in stone. If we miss on Garland, I'm still very confident we get Romeo. Archie will do his part with this team. We have a bright future because Archie will at worst get top 100 kids and that is enough for him. The 5 stars will be nice though. -

Romeo will cut to 3 on Saturday. From here on out Tim Langford will limit access from coaches to Romeo. Other than that nothing new. Hearing IU, Vandy are definitely in the top 3. Battle for 3rd spot isn't just KU and UNC. UCLA has outside shot as well. -

Gary Harris had a cpl. Nothing remotely serious or worth getting upset over. People reading into him waiting are reaching. IMO it is a very smart play. If he really wanted to go to IU this only helps our case. Roy and Self have enough to show him and even Bryce at Vandy. Archie is the only new coach that is gonna be on his list. His reasoning makes sense to me and if Archie shows enough this year I believe he is ours period. -

Crystal Ball is only revelant the day of IMO in recruitments like Garlands. The obvious picks tend to be the ones with the one month correct picks so. It is still a nice tool and we can all bash it but we all frequently check it lol. I like what I have heard today though. If IU doesn't get him I would be surprised. I'm all in on IU. If he picks Vandy I will gladly accept defeat lol and move on, but it's too hard to ignore all the info regarding IU and Darius. If Vandy guys had a clue it may make me worried but since nothing really comes from them that is solid info I tend to brush the he is Vandys to lose comments aside. -

I just believe from what I have been told, read and seen on here that he is ours. IMO IU kills the pros vs cons thing and it sounds like that meant a lot to them in regards to his decision. Of course what we see as pros may be a con to them. No way of telling. Just think Archie has done enough to pull it off. Let's hope so at least. -

I personally believe it is too close to call and most are just making a guess based off being the hometown team. And their insiders claim it has been a done deal so if they have been listening to those guys since he is in that area it makes sense. Message board optimism is different. Gun to my head though it is IU. I just hope he announces soon. This is giving me a headache.
