  1. m It's easy to say that after the fact. I bet you were all about the movement.... Mistakes happen to every single coach. It sucks. But a couple guys don't pan out, one guy gets homesick, and there you have it when you are not recruiting the same players as the powers. It takes time. Look at Costello. Msu can afford to wait til his senior year for him to be good.
  2. Crean was forced to take huge classes which caused a second reset after the 2013 Big Ten title. Had to start over again. As Izzo said, "how do you recruit to that??!" So yes, I do think there are still ripple effects being felt from the Sampson travesty. If you can recruit with the big boys, you can turn it around quickly. Iu was not and is not in a position to do that after a generation of irrelevancy
  3. You think it's fair to compare a program that took itself to ground zero to ones that have been going to Final Fours and recruiting like it? I mean really? You think that's a legitimate comparison? It's not a crutch. The guy brought IU out the other side, but we are just now seeing the fruit of that labor. I know you guys all want it NOW and to fire him NOW this instant, but it just doesn't work that way
  4. I meant our program hit the reset. In 2008. While these other programs people want to put us in the same category with were functioning healthily and winning. This is the first year the IU program has been close to healthy in a lot of years. Next year will be even better as far as roster is concerned
  5. Rob Phinisee is a must get for Tom Crean. Must be why he was there yesterday. Kid is the perfect point guard for Crean's offensive concepts. Hell of a player
  6. I still don't understand comparing IU to UNC, etc. it's just not a fair look. We hit the reset for Christ's sake lol. Would love to win the BTT. Crazy things seem to happen. Is it really all on IU? I mean, they miss one of those two 3's, we make one more free throw, etc and the tone is totally different? Seems pretty short sighted
  7. Agree with this. Didn't see Crown Point so I don't know what they chose to do. However, I find it hard to define stalling as "ball control." It isn't basketball. I'm not speaking to taking time off of the clock. Talking about literally holding the ball up top for an entire quarter. That's called look at me coaching
  8. He isn't. There won't be any incoming McD's AA for IU
  9. Standing is not a basketball skill. To me winning means going for it, leaving it all out there. JMO no hard feelings
  10. Be careful bringing reason into this.. Ha
  11. Common sense prevails lol
  12. Yes, but you'd have to think the committee will consider where those games were, who was healthy, and most importantly when they occurred. There's not a chance we will be a 5. That's chicken little stuff. RPI is such a poor metric. How it is still utilized is beyond me. Either way, the sky is not falling.
  13. I have zero respect for coaches who deploy stall ball in non game ending situations or overtime. It's absolutely ridiculous and unfair to the kids involved. Some coaches really are in it for the wrong reasons.
  14. This. Those who stay will be champions. Just ask Yogi.
  15. The committee does not take into account how a team is playing at the end of the year. They do not put much weight into conference tournament games. It's the body of work. Based on that, IU should be a 3 or 4
  16. Truly not sure what was wrong with my post. What Bowhunter just posted is what I was referring to
  17. Must not have explained that well enough? Idk what I said that was wrong but there's definitely been a ton of vitriol thrown JB's way
  18. Only thing that makes sense would be that he wants to leave due to the ruthlessness of fans towards him during his absence
  19. It's not Crean's fault IU had poor leadership at the university and atheistic dept level for years and years
  20. Yeah you guys cracked the code. Crean #actually sucks. Good investigative work! Just root for the Celtics. Crean will be back
  21. So was Yogi. Don't disagree, just saying. Blackmon + Troy = bad. Now that may be an actual issue... Blackmon has game. He'll guard well enough to get himself picked up. Gonna be some competition at the guard spot next year... For the first time in the Crean era?
  22. Yep, it's just IU. Only the Hoosiers and Crean
  23. The kid may be better than Gelon. That isn't the point. Why does it need to be second guessed to the nth degree? What's the point? Sasha is a junior. Grant is 2016. Crean got his mad scientist vibes tingling on this one. Low risk move anyway. There are much bigger things to worry about than which Crown Point youngster IU signed
