(2018) SG Romeo Langford - INDIANA HOOSIERS
MadAboutIndiana replied to ccgeneral's topic in Indiana Men's Basketball
I agree, but I just don't think it's realistic at all to expect the top Indiana kids to want to go to IU all of the time. That concept, much like a lot of others kicked around here and elsewhere, are relics of an era long gone. Of those top kids, how many grew up watching IU as a fan? Probably 0. Basketball players now were flying places for tournaments starting in 3rd grade. It's not like they've never left Heltonville, Indiana. They love the big programs. Crean goes hard after a ton of guys, so we should get our share. But it's not like it'll be some big failure if some don't come. The kids are the ones picking here. Edit: looks like Pap beat me to the punch and said it much more succinctly -
Somewhat agree with this. These situations are highly nuanced. Kids that bust just as easily can work out. It's not all "Coach A is an idiot!! Why would he offer this kid??" If that's your take on Hollowell, Devin, whoever.. Congrats on being brilliant.

The fact is the main reason he got the job was due to his ethnicity. Pathetic. Should've hired Crean after Davis, might have a banner or two by now

Kelvin is a fine coach in his own right. But his style of "saving kids" just didn't fit at a powerhouse school.

Yogi clearly had a better high school career. It shouldn't have been close. People don't like Park Tudor and their domination as a private school. Stupid politics relegated Yogi to runner up Just because they were 2A. Gary Harris never even won a regional -

Hell no. Yogi flat out should have been Mr. Basketball. Not even close -

It's just the Internet. It's not an attack on anyone Personally I think Green is going to be more than solid. -
How about Malik Monk? Best guard in the class besides Ball

You just don't recover from being Creaned... *huge, exaggerated fart noise* -
Always wonder how Ron Patterson would have done on the court at IU

What gets me past the underwhelming aura IU fans have created around the kid is that there's something to be said for a kid who can pass and catch the ball. Some of our better players struggle with that. Kill me if I'm wrong, I just get the feeling this kid is going to be the next Hulls. Not a 4 year starter. Don't expect him to see much time next year. But he's a program guy -

Pretty sure Grant has said this is how his family is. Still, scrappy _____ kids love Duke lol -

Cool, man. The point is, he seems to be a prideful kid/one that will spill it all out there. Not surprising he wasn't an IU fan growing up. Would you have been? -

I don't think he's gonna do a whole bunch at IU, but I think the Hornsby comparison is spot on. What's wrong with signing a guy like that ya know? -

That's all I could find issue with. The people writing him off already. Questioning him or not being sold is more than reasonable. There are questions about all of these guys -

Just seems like he's regressed as a player. Known to be a big partier and not much of a worker or a guy committed to raising his game. Along for the ride so to speak. Acc to SAS fans at least -

Hahahahahahaha The most awkward pre game speech I've seen. Before a national title game of all games [emoji24] -

I don't think that's the aim at all. They believe he's gonna be a player. But the thing that a lot miss... There's a human aspect here. Crean is known for this kind of thing. He saw something special in Grant. Maybe it's his unassuming personality? Maybe he thinks he will grow into the model/leader like Zeisloft? Following his gut when it comes to scouting is a very good thing for IU! We all aren't privy to the most important information anyways, so it's hard to tell why some things happen the way they do It's definitely going to be fun to see what Grant does.
