Completely agree. An example of a player who never should of been recruited in first place and Crean reached as he did here way to much. There is a huge differences between a borderline top 200 3 star (ala OG, Juwan, Oladipo Etc) and a low 2 star like Gelon and April or Priller. This was one of Crean's biggest problems is he thought he could unlock talent in everyone regardless of ability and didn't get the difference between an OG and a Gelon. There is a mountain of difference in unlocking talent between a 3 star and a 2 star and I'm not sure Crean understood that till the moment he was canned. Don't blame Gelon at all and wish him the best.

Not sure I want Johnson back now. As much as I think he could help throwing your dad under the bus like that makes me question what kind of character he has and if he fits what Archie is trying to do. Stay tuned. Also worth noting his twitter account is now verified which generally only happens after one officially withdraws from college and is a draft prospect.

Just as I suspected the 3 guys we lost were leaving no matter what so we will end up with the exact same roster whether we made coaching change or not. Also Jerod Morris said on his weekly Assembly Call he is hearing 60-40 that Robert comes back. I believe him far more than any faceless twitter poster. That's lower than I would hope but odds still in our favor.
-
Or he was just throwing things at the wall and this happened to stick with Blackmon and Bryant? His theory on Johnson has yet to be proven. He has a 50/50 chance of being right on these no matter what so it doesn't mean he didn't write something out of the blue for attention and happened to be right.
-
That guy seems to be an average Joe who is just throwing things out there (under 400 followers and no info tying him to any news organization) from everything I am reading from his twitter posts. He makes Albers look good with his reporting and that is saying something. I actually agree with Brennan that what Rabjohns did with the JBJ information was a bit careless. It should of been clear to him the family was not telling the truth and Rabjohns should not of reported what they said. It's a tough choice and issue but clearly Rabjohns did not handle this well. With that said I believe nothing this Brennan Champion guy says and would not take anything he says as remotely fact or credible.

Can you please provide this link? I have searched the whole internet and cannot find an article saying anything of this sort? Are you referencing anonymous posters on message boards because I am incredibly skeptical of these 'sources' even the ones who are known to be 'credible'? I am not totally doubting you but just curious where you read this?
-
Albers has crafted the most elaborate lie ever (says Blackmon texted him directly to confirm he is leaving) or Blackmon is gone. I would not put anything past Albers but in past he has said 'sources indicate" when he has been lying and making things up. Either Albers has taken his lies to a new level saying the player texted him directly when it did not happen or Rabjohns owes everyone an apology for reporting something that was clearly not true (I understand the family told Rabjohns what they said and I believe they did, but common sense should of said not to report that and the family was not being entirely truthful).
-
I agree but this is not a case of that. This is a case of Rabjohn's trying to get his own info out there on outside chance he is right even though it differs from everything else despite the original report probably being accurate. At least though Rabjohns is reporting what he is told (albeit probably not accurate) unlike Justin Albers who just flat out makes things up so I can't be to mad.
-
Rabjohn's is trying to be a big shot. He's gone and the family is just not admitting it yet. Rabjohn's has to reports what he is told but Rothstein's report of him leaving is 100% accurate in my mind and family just didn't want it leaked yet so they are denying it. I personally will not be mad either way given Blackmon's star crossed play in time here.

Kind of unrelated to this thread but Zeller's excellent character clearly shows again to come back to IU and finish degree and graduate. Not many people in Zeller's position do that given his relative NBA success and shows what a high class individual he is and how much he was raised right and values his education. Again shows between him, Hulls, Oladipo, Watford and Elston how strong leadership was on that team and why it was so successful. Than it all got away from Crean and why he is gone now.
-
I believe Blackmon was content to get out of IU hell or high water even if it means playing in Europe or D-league (I'm not criticizing him just making an observation). In end we get exact same roster Crean would of had in Archie's first year. All scholarships now accounted for next year and days of roster crunches, over signings and allegedly forcing people out are gone for good!

I am all in favor of the Baseball rule of either going straight out of school or going to college for 2 or 3 yrs. Also the NBA as a business has a legal right to set whatever requirements they want to for players to be employed by their league. My job requires at least a college degree to be eligible for the position I hold. My point is the NBA is on perfectly firm ground as an employer to set whatever standards they want to make people eligible for a job with them.

For what It's worth (and it's worth a lot more than the nameless poster on Facebook) the Assembly Call guys say they have been hearing Bryant could be signing with an agent. It's at the 20 minute mark of the video below and than again more about it at the 1 hour mark. I thought when Archie was pushing so hard for Moore that maybe there was at least a decent chance Bryant was gone. Again nothing final but this appears to be a case of whatever was posted on Facebook was at least partially correct as these guys will only put nuggets like that in the show if they think they are saying something credible.

Wasn't that Kyle Cox after him who got into all the trouble with sexual involvement with students after Schilling was gone? Not familiar with the culture at Park Tudor so some on here may know better if he was involved in something different that I am not aware or didn't make media but I only recall the scandal with Cox.

The inevitable has finally happened and IU has finally fallen to 4th in most titles all time. Up to Archie to check us back up within a few years. -
I can tell you beyond a doubt Crean is a very good guy at heart away from the court who has done many great things for the Bloomington community. I have personally witnessed this at least once and heard many other stories like everyone else. He certainly has issues like everyone but he cares about people more than most with his fame and ego. Let's not confuse this with his coaching and behavior on the court which at times leaves a lot to be desired. As for the IU media in my mind that would be anyone in the state of Indiana who either covers all local sports full time (guys like JMV on radio or Anthony Calhoun on TV) or specifically focus on IU (Mike Miller for the HT or Pete Diprimio for Fort Wayne Paper). I can tell you at least several of the guys who cover IU part or full time (the examples I gave above are specifically people I do NOT know or have ever talked to) have been very frustrated with lack of availability Crean has given them at times and when he does give them time he was often late. Other times he would be great and give them a lot of time but would call them in on 5 minutes notice for the interview. Their relationship was very much a tolerant but frustrating one. I have no idea how national media felt.
-
Anyone angry at Crean that when he was coaching us he would not give the media the time of day and now he won't get away from them? I know several people in the IU media fairly well who are great guys and I know they were beyond frustrated at the lack of access he gave them during his tenure (but I have not talked to any of them since his firing to know if this makes them more aggravated that he is talking so much now). More than anything as a fan it was very aggravating that every week in Indy you would hear Painter and Holtmann almost weekly on the local radio shows here but Crean refused to come on. Even when he would talk after games he would not always make sense. With all that said I think Crean is a good man but at times he acts a bit mysteriously and his handling of media was one of the things I will never understand.

IU owes BYU so big right now it's not even funny. Otherwise Zags would be on door step of breaking IU's 1976 record right now and we would all be on edge like never before just as 72 Dolphins were in 07 with Pats till they lost championship in last minute.
