Crean player, Crean player, Crean player, .......I agree that the two coaches run vastly different defensive systems and would not recruit similar players (at this point I’m not prepared to say Archie has an offensive system) but the “dreaded godawful Crean players” went 9-9 in conference last year. This team is going to do worse. Morgan, Al and De’Ron do not play “fast but soft” as all the Creanies are lumped together. At some point isn’t it Archie’s job to teach them something? Reducing the time spent doing the weave is the only adjustment I have seen. Trotting the same five out to start the second half was dumb and was Archie’s decision, not the Crean players decision, It was Archie’s poor decision to have De Ron ride the pine at the end of the game, when Romeo and Morgan don’t see the ball for the first five minutes of the game it is Archie that does not call a time out to tell the guys to get them the ball or else, etc., etc. The issues are far beyond “Crean players”.

That’s the lineup I wanted to start the second half. Instead, as usual, he started the same 5 as the beginning of the game and they got off to the same terrible start In the second half as they did the first half. Think about that....the poor five minutes at the beginning of each half were a major factor in the loss.

I think you might be kidding but a bushel of coaches could have won with this team at home, against OSU, today.

I don’t care if his plus/minus was a record setting 4 million. He killed us at the end with the terrible pass/turnover and he was going to go “hero” from the get-go on the last possession. Those were virtually the worst things that could have happened and they were done by a junior PG (I.e the position you would hope you could trust the most in crunch time).

Just think of how bad we played and yet we still could have won. Just a slight bit of improvement and we would have at least 2-3 more BT wins. That is what’s so frustrating.

Yes, some did but there were some (not a lot) of comments about his teams lack of defense. I don’t recall much of anything negative being said about Archie. PS. nice avatar.

Yep. As sure as the sun rising he was going to dribble the clock down and take a last second hero shot. NO DOUBT ABOUT IT. Somehow that is obvious to internet warriors but not to Archie.

In fairness to Glass the media, other coaches etc., universally called Archie a “home run” hire.

I’m not sure how well he has been coached and/or incorporated into the offensive “system”.

And yet Archie then starts Smith in the second half, because his name is on the laminated starter card, and we start out with 2 points in 5 minutes. I DON’T GET IT.

I don’t feel any better coming out of an Archie timeout than a Crean timeout. Never thought I would think that.

Try not to think of Morgan and Romeo being gone.

It is so frustrating that we have had multiple games in which we “had a chance” even after playing horribly half the game. The talent is there (not to win at Duke but certainly to win these home games). This is a “what could be” year.

So this exact same starting five started the first and second halves in the same crappy fashion. What a surprise. The half time adjustments are amazing.

2 years of training would get him within a year of learning the three year defense :)

We will see. Archie tends to start the same 5 in the second half no matter what.

And one of those was a desperation three at the end of the shot clock. Just baffling.
