Draft position alone guarantees nothing. In terms of going 5th, I wouldn't say seeing it as likely working out as going bust is an endorsement. #5 guys shouldn't be 50% bust. The thought was that Utah gave him a guarantee that if he got to 5 that they insured him they would select him. His advisers seemed to want to go with that assurance as opposed to risk him going two, three or four.

Mbiya is a Bidunga type in that they both are centers. One was a burger boy and the other needs to lay off the burgers. mbiya could eventually be a good player but he’s not going to add much this season. You have stated what Indiana’s need was for him which is exactly what I said: a depth piece.

Would have liked to have him as a depth piece, but ultimately he was an unranked guy who left NC State after they over recruited with a 10 minute mid-major big. His value was from the fact that there aren't many guys available right now.

BTW, Skip Bayless can go to hell. About ten minutes prior to Hali's injury, he tweeted that the Pacers had faked his calf injury because 'he played bad in important games and it took the pressure off him'.

Seems like a hot take based on no information. In terms of Turner, I am inclined to agree that they are better off not overspending. Defensively he fits but I think they would be better off with a guy who doesn't necessarily add much offensively but is a plus rebounder. And my God, get Mathurin to buy in on defense. Guy certainly can score but just gives up too much on the other end.
