  1. I started looking at that picture and totally forgot about actually reading the thread. OK, so I'm shallow! Sue me!
  2. Keady looks like he is suffering from constipation.
  3. Nice, but judging by that video the defensive end of the basketball court has vanished. I think a full investigation is in order. Just kidding, of course, but that is why I never watch highlight clips. None of them ever show anyone playing defense. Well, that and the awful music.
  4. That is just too good for words!
  5. Weren't they known years ago as Indiana Central?
  6. A big THANK YOU to both iufaninillinois and maharkn for your answers to my question! Guess I'll just see how my patience holds out. Have to stay away from any game threads until then.
  7. Is there a way to watch this without subscribing to BTNplus? Please note: I'm not talking about pirating their signal or anything of that nature. I've never seen this listed on any streaming service that carries the regular BTN channel. Not on Sling TV or PS Vue or any carrier. I just hate to pay for a subscription for two months for only three games on BTNplus, that's all.
  8. Top ten? Do you realize how many underclassmen make themselves eligible for the draft every year? What was it this past year? Around 50 or so?
  9. In some cases, that would be like having the fox guard the hen house.
  10. The problem is, where do you draw the line to determine which ones are "elite"? Aren't some "non-elite" players at crooked schools getting illegal "benefits" already? I would think that might just be a different slippery slope for many to slide down.
  11. That is a great term! You should copyright it.
  12. Because knowing someone isn't equal to paying someone. In this case, friendship doesn't buy cars and such.
  13. They were worried for a while about finding Kentuckians with enough teeth to actually bite the coins...........until someone finally explained to them what bitcoin is.
  14. Simple solution. Converse Chuck Taylor's for everyone!
  15. I agree, but I'm also thinking of a much, much more recent comparison. In fact it could come under the label of "current events".
  16. The original post did not make it clear that it was in response to a reporter's question. There were quotes surrounding the statement, but those appeared (at least to me) to only represent the poster was showing he was giving us information as accurate as he could. If the statement was in response to a question, then you are right. Changes things. I had thought it was just a general statement released by the university.
  17. That is the type of statement that always worries me a bit. If you are not involved, and there has been not even a hint of you being involved, then why do you feel compelled to say anything at all?
  18. To your suggestions: In part one - Not all schools are state affiliated/funded, so players becoming "state employees" doesn't work. Paying the players a "stipend" was already tried, back in the 60's I think. It was called "laundry money". The idea being to help cover basic expenses. It didn't go well because, as you have pointed out, the "stipends" started getting - let's say stretched. In part two - I fully agree. If a kid isn't really interested in school, don't make them go to school. Let them enter the draft, or if not drafted, try out for the "G" league, as the NBA now calls it. Maybe something could be worked out that if a kid doesn't cut it at the G league tryout, he could still go to school, but would be required to stay in school past the one year. I actually believe this sort of thing is part of the NBA's intention with the remaking of the G league. That it will serve the same purpose as the minor leagues do for MLB.
  19. I would think a school needs to be VERY cautious about recruiting ANY of the kids linked to the schools currently under investigation, or with strong ties to the shoe companies. I don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water, so to speak, but cautions should be taken.
  20. I thought he would work for the Courier-Journal doing restaurant reviews. Specializing in Italian eateries, of course.
  21. Thanks for the "scare by thread title". So many snarky things to say, so little time.
  22. At minimum, a number of creative signs and chants from the student section? (That is, if it is a home game for IU.)
  23. The NCAA has turned a blind eye to a lot of things for a number of years. Is it really any surprise that another agency had to step in to start righting this ship?
  24. While so many of these guys want to show us how bad they can be at rapping (which I don't care for anyway) Victor brings back a classic. Donny Hathaway, Aretha Franklin, Leon Russell....the list of great performers who have done this song goes on and on. He actually has a certain amount of Donny Hathaway in his voice and phrasing. Darn nice start Victor!
