  1. *wink wink* Looks good on paper...
  2. Agreed. One could argue that it would make him feel invincible and/or entitled... I haven't watched or read enough about him to get a feel for his level of humility.
  3. He mentioned Slowhand (Clapton) in the OP.
  4. Well, you can't make any real money that way. /s
  5. NIL is year to year... and we have two outspoken (Woodson supporting) seniors... so yeah, I kind of expect some fireworks... probably not big ones, but I really doubt he can/will keep this on the rails...
  6. For four years he hasn't. The best predictor of future behavior is past, relevant behavior... so, Imma say "nope".
  7. Neither is the "pay for play" model that it currently is... it was set up for compensation for endorsements, and use of their NAME, IMAGE or LIKENESS ... but, well, that horse is out of the corral.
  8. I'd expect a guy like McCollum to not bring the hubris we got with the current guy... make sure he's surrounded by what he needs to succeed... but for me McCollum is still probably fourth or fifth on my list behind BS, Drew, OTZ and maybe DeVries (with the same support team). Bottom line: whoever it is, he has to win and win big and win consistently.
  9. You left out: Jimmy Page, B B King and Carlos Santana
  10. Could be... but yeah, another DV would be his end... and not sure Dolson gives him a call.
  11. The way I read his initial post was hypothetical. The two elite P5 jobs he was talking about were Texas and IU (if he's hired here)... and what I understood his point to be was that IF he gets the IU job and IF he screws the pooch again, he'd be done - he would have screwed up at two elite P5 schools (TX and IU)... but maybe I read it wrong.
  12. Nah, they pulled the Beard stuff out into it's own thread...
  13. He won't come... we have NIL...
  14. Assuming you meant "Mike Davis or John Treloar"... surely Woodson wasn't in the running that early... he was an assistant with the Cavaliers in 1999-2001... But thanks for sharing...
  15. If my granny had balls she'd be my pappaw... it is what it is... we can't change the past, we can (hopefully) only learn from it.
  16. Yeah... we're still living that dream from last time (Mediocre Mike Woodson).
  17. I would hope/expect them to be here: https://www.thedailyhoosier.com/here-are-the-eight-iu-basketball-players-going-through-senior-day-on-saturday/ https://www.insidethehall.com/
  18. I thought there were a few livestreams last years from some of the IU basketball blogs... I'm sure more info will get out soon...
  19. There are two parts to this... forgiveness and accountability. Just because you said "I'm sorry" doesn't absolve you accountability for your actions. The event was investigated and documented. UT saw fit to terminate him over the event. He walked away rather than challenge them for the buyout money. All of those factors say something to me. The DA ultimately dropped the charges. There could be any number of reasons for that. And he has not been convicted of anything in relation to that episode. We're only 2 years removed from that alcohol-fueled event, and if one is to believe the reports on the internet (yeah, could be suspect/spun/exaggerated), it doesn't appear that the alcohol situation has changed... so the obvious question is "will it happen again?" and we can never truly be sure. All we can say is "it has not happened again yet". Yeah, he can coach... but at what cost? We all make mistakes, we all do things that we regret, etc... but there are levels of transgressions, and for me, this is still a big deal. For me, it's a matter of personal judgment - if he has a problem with alcohol (and he has to recognize whether or not he does), then I believe that he's one "bender" away from another event. Whether to hire him to coach at your school or not is a decision for the administration to make... but I personally do have a problem with hiring him because we don't know if/when it happens again... and it's not a risk that I am willing to take. With that, I'm done with the Beard discussion. Dolson will decide. Then I will decide where my fandom will lay.
  20. not even if it was your mom, wife or daughter?
  21. Well, after a stellar FIVE year NBA career with 14 career starts where he averaged 18.5 minutes and 5.2 points per game, who could possibly discount his opinion?
  22. No, that was one job Woodson was finally able to do... we all wanted him out.
  23. If it's Beard, I am out... goin' local...
  24. "Others trying to jockey into position for the IU job. This search isn’t going to end like the others (disappointment). This is a wanted job. NIL is king and Indiana is one of the true superpowers in the NIL era and that’ll always be the case. The university takes a backseat to no one in sheer resources. Anyway, this is a two, maybe three horse race as of right now. Stevens/Otz/Drew. That’s all for now, I’m out." Woodson is gonna be pissed when he finds out... all this time, he thought he was king.
